Just got my pack of Hyaenadons after some trial and error of taming them. We were ambushed on the way home by some raptors, big mistake on the part of the raptors.
Dude you're fine they're pushovers. Kill one and the rest will scatter. They're also not good at climbing at all. Basically any rock you hop on they wont be able to find you.
one other thing with hyaenodon meatpack... they're crafted in your inventory, which means you should be able to make better armoured versions based on your crafting skill.
@@Breviparopus Well, not exactly. Traditionally you would make a mindwipe , reset all your points, put everything into crafting, make the thing you're going to make (including stuff made with schematics that is already better than normal), and then mindwipe yourself again and put your points back to what they were before. That way you get the benefits of having everything in crafting without the drawback of having all your other stats be awful.
Awesome video! Been wanting to tame one as a portable fridge so this helped put! Also, when you were carrying it with your Argent the reason why it stopped attacking was because it was out of range from it’s pack, you can tell because the orange/red aura disappeared meaning he had gone out of range. Other than that great vid! :D
Hey phlinger Is it just me or is the female hyaenodon more smarter than the male cause the male seems less smart easy and less of a struggle to tame with just petting it?
Hyena females in real life usually rule the packs so I'm guessed that is what ark based it off of. Females are usually higher level and alpha in the wild. I had to pet a male 2 times today for a tame which took a little over a minute while my tribe mate took 20 mins to get one female
Everyone speaks of the bean and it’s pack of meat, but no ne speaks of ph linger saying wrong button, is it wrong? Or did you actully mean to hit it? (I’m joking ofc)
I remember when you invented your taming pen for them in ark solo, it was revolutionary and I used it ever since :D

Finally my favorite tame getting the love they deserve! On official they were all I tamed, used them to help my tribe clear Carno Island
