Subaru probably doesn't realize just how terrifying he probably is to the rest of the world, from the perspective of everyone unaware of Return by Death he's this unbeatable strategist with the strongest allies on the continent. Somehow, even when you plan things out perfectly he still manages to read you just as perfectly. It's bittersweet, he looks like a gifted genius but he's just a regular guy who refuses to give up. Definitely my favorite Isekai hero out of all of them.

subaru's moment with rem when he's at his lowest is so badass for me. he's been through so much trauma, dying multiple times, seeing people he loves die brutally multiple times. he keeps on trying but fails again and again. he's hopeless. the worst part is, no one knows. he can't share the burden to anyone since he's being stopped by satella. he gave up thinking he's powerless and there's nothing he can do. then rem trusts him and chooses to believe in him even though she doesn't understand what's happening. ugh rem ❤️

No anime character knows true suffering until they have experienced what this guy experienced. I'd need a reasonable argument to make me state otherwise.
I'm not a huge anime fan, and I can count the series I like on the fingers of both hands. However, Rezero is truly unique. Even the moments in which you are ashamed of Subaru’s actions, when he is fooling around and acting like a complete idiot... Still, your heart fills with warmth and a smile appears on your face. And all because you are ready to forgive this idiot anything, just knowing what suffering he went through, because you went through all these scenes with him, step by step.
This is the one character in anime who suffered way more than any other in the anime universe. To go through all of this by himself and be unable to lean on someone's shoulder or share his pain with them, a black horse who's suffering for the sake of others yet no one knows what he's going through. Admirable, one of the best if not the best anime in its genre.

Re:Zero does an excellent job at making you hate and cringe at Subaru's antics only to follow up with some of the worse suffering you've ever seen. And all you can think is "holy shit, he didn't deserve this..." And you almost feel bad for how you felt toward him 2 episodes prior

Whenever I have to cope with my own pain because it get's unbareable, I come here and feel his pain to numb myself. It really helps but makes me cry really fast.
Glad you focused a lot on episode 15 in the crescendo. It really showed how hopeless Subarus situation is. Also because it’s my favourite anime episode.
He really could have avoided all these constant sufferings by simply walk away, but man is just too damn good that he just keep coming back to hell to save the people he cares about, again and again. The novel is at arc 8 now, and it just seems endless, the things he has to deal with, the man’s will is out of this world, one of the best main characters i have ever seen.
