Demonstration of how I adjusted the length of a belt that was too big for me by cutting off the extra material, refinishing the new raw edge (beveling, staining, burnishing), and adding more holes.
Shorten the belt by cutting the excess of the other side. Move the buckle in the appropriate amount. Use the cut off piece as a pattern to mount the buckle to the correct position. You will have a finished end with the the. correct hole patterns. Also it will look professionaly done. Have the buckle connect to the center hole in the original pattern. Were the leather folds over thru the buckle, You can hold it in place by drilling two holes in it. Use eather two pop-rivets or two small brass bolts with washers and nuts. I've used both ways. Its a lot better way of doing it. A little more challenging, but well worth ìt. Especially if its a good leather belt. Good luck
