- Hello everyone,
In today's video we cover the incorrect comparisons of Aussie's and Kiwi's. Then I ask you all about commercials! Hope you all enjoy.
Sincerely,
Daniel and The Foley Family
The crunchie adds from the early 80s is good
total mayhem...... awesome as!!!
The relationship between NZ and Aussie is rather like sibling rivalry
The Rhys Darby link?
A usefull reference re Aussie history are the potato factory trillogy by Bryce Courtney. Well worth the read
Look up the lift plus Ads on TH-cam there was a few of them but they were short
Last one(s), this is an ad featuring Barry Crump a NZ bushman and author on Toyota Hilux's it was a series of ads that ran 3-4 I think, here's the first one. th-cam.com/video/iqwnr2sza_o/w-d-xo.html
The Bugger Toyota add and the Mitre 10 ...come on Jonesey add
NZ police often put out funny, but serious road safety ads.
"Ghost Chips": th-cam.com/video/CtWirGxV7Q8/w-d-xo.html
Likewise, Air NZ often puts heaps of effort into their flight safety ads.
Phar lap a famous kiwi horse claimed by aussie
Lots of kiwiana references throughout this ad for Macca's/McDonalds Kiwi Burger commercial. th-cam.com/video/Z5CX_NCf8Ow/w-d-xo.html and another oldie ad for Ansett (an ex Airline company) and a cat called Fluffy th-cam.com/video/QFE5AF1j-Ws/w-d-xo.html
One of my favorite pieces of kiwi trivia is that the 'Ah Novus' ad is now protected as cultural heritage, and the Broadcasting Standards authority now ignores all complaints about it. It's not the funniest ad, but the fact you can't complain about it anymore is hilarious.
Edit: Found link: th-cam.com/video/9VGStavaFB4/w-d-xo.html
While watching this the ad about kids in a parked car talking about how their dads drive while high popped into my head, I was going to link that but decided on this classic instead. Our road safety ads are humorous but also do a good job of reminding us to be safe. Also, “make it click” a McDonald’s ad about always wearing a seatbelt, I still think about it every time I get in a car.

Here’s the kids in the car ad, thought I’d link it just in case you wanted to watch

Kids Mitre10 advert Kiwi and Aussie kids is a good one.
Export Beer ads there's a couple
Lift plus ads have a heap of them.
NZ police ads
and the last lot are not funny, actually their a bit brutal it's the drink/driving ads.
How about the relationship between US and Canada
From when I was a kid. It was filmed in NZ

Despite people saying NZ is in the middle of nowhere, we are actually very close to two massive continents. One is a barren wasteland devoid of any intelligent life, the other is Antarctica
Lol😂😂😂
By the way Flight of the Conchords has some great clips of the Aussie vs NZ moments, here is one : th-cam.com/video/aeGdahBW5i8/w-d-xo.html
and another great compilation of Flight of the Conchords : th-cam.com/video/buoztHLk9JQ/w-d-xo.html It is a TV show that used to be on HBO and was a lot of USA folks introduction to Kiwi humour.
Rhys Darby is just one of our great actors. He's hilarious. My late son made a few movies with him and had a lot of time for him.
Blessed days mate..
We are all different people.hey..it doesn't cost anything to be nice..Sweetazz👍
I’m biased because I know who made it but here’s my favourite NZ ad. Excuse the 2010 quality. th-cam.com/video/jDBAFxg3mqw/w-d-xo.html
Half the well known or famous people in Australia are Kiwi's. There's actually too many to list and you probably wouldn't know who they were anyway. The country/rock singer Keith Urban is a Kiwi. Born in Whangarei but moved to Aus when he was a baby. He actually has NZ, Aussie, and US citizenship as his home base is Nashville. Alan Dale who played Vice President Jim Prescott in 24 is another Kiwi actor claimed by Aussie just because he worked there. He was born and raised in Dunedin. He was 32 before he moved to Aussie.
Crowded House was NOT a Kiwi band. It was a Melbourne band, one member of which was a New Zealander but had lived in Melbourne for many years. Nick and Paul were both Melbournians. Liam was born there and Tim lived there. Throw in a couple of Americans and the Kiwi claim just looks pathetic.
