Also cocaine is technically worse for your heart because it has local anesthetic properties ( which block sodium channel and weaken blood flow to heart, or something like that ) But meth lasts longer , so really depends on the circumstance. But on paper cocaine is worse for the heart. But meth is worse for your brain, as its neurotoxic. And oddly enough cocaine is apparently neuroprotective ( protects neurons in the brain ).

One day I couldn’t find any Roxy and my friend had a couple bags of fentanyl he said it was cheaper and it feels like 3 Roxy’s of course I was hooked from there. I lost multiple relationships because of it, strained my relationship with my family but when my first son was born when I was 21 I said enough is enough as soon as I saw his face. Today I’m 25 with 4 years clean and I have 2 boys, age 3 and 8 months. They have saved my life and don’t even know it yet. I still deal with the long term effects daily and am on medication but I couldn’t be happier that I’m alive

I know functional addicts who work and abuse drugs for 20+ years, and half of that time they did IV, and they have never ever been in jail or had any issues with the authorities. It takes brains and some boundaries, it's not impossible. At least in Europe though. Probably in the US is a bit more difficult.
I am 25 years old and have used heroin and xanax for almost 10 years. In my opinion, I and have seen others use cocaine in the same way functional alcoholics can. It does not effect people in the same way opiates do. I lost everything. I would cry myself to sleep. I couldn't eat and became a skeleton. It tore my parents hearts out. While my friend on a gram a day of coke had a girl, kept a job making lots of money and continued his life, no problem. Not saying everyone is like this, but on average I'd say. Although I would point fingers at xanax & all benzos because like alcohol, they are the only two substances you can die from withdrawal alone. I had a grand mal seizure that would have killed me if my brother wasn't there. So popin beans & bars, drinking lean and slamming dope isn't cool. Even if your favorite rapper says so.

The solution to end the war on drugs is to do like Portugal and decriminalize all the drugs. Instead of putting drugs users at the jail, they should be directed to a doctor to help them getting out of the addiction

As a person who knows a lot of addicts and recreational drug users, i can honestly say ive never met an open heroin user. People will pop some coke out a dinner but heroin addicts will hide away. I feel like this really undersold the difference in addiction potential between the two. Cocaine can be used as a "special occasion," drug, it's really only as bad for your body as getting quite drunk (fine once in a while, bad if it's every night), while heroine is much harder to use casually and infrequently.
This is exactly why I will never try any street drug even if I was offered it for free and knew I wouldn't get in trouble with the police. It's not worth ruining your life just to get high. The war on drugs doesn't seem to be working though so we do need to find a more effective solution to this drug problem.

The war on drugs is completely wrong. People who do drugs shouldn’t be placed in the same category as a violent criminal. Doing drugs does not make you a bad person. If someone has a problem with drug use, we should help them and send them to rehab instead of sending them to jail. Also, alcohol is way more dangerous and abusive than most other drugs, yet is is legal.
I agree, for the most part, however unfortunately drugs abuse is still often tied into violent criminal behavior. However, yes, there is a big difference between just a functioning addict who got caught, and an addict robbing a liquor store for their next fix.

Admittedly I've done crack cocaine and not regular cocaine which is slightly different but I think it's a bit of a shove to say it makes you feel superior to people. It certainly gives a confidence boost and helps with my social anxiety but I can't say it's ever made me feel superior to anyone.
And if you combine them, it’s even more addictive. At least psychologically. I have lost way too many of my close friends in the past 10 years & I wish I was saying that figuratively. 7 years clean in April. If you are struggling, please don’t ever give up :)
Addicts are often viewed as bad people, when that most likely isn’t the case. Addiction can be a symptom of something bigger, like trauma. If drug addicts received empathy and care, I’m sure things would improve.
As an addict in recovery, I fully agree. One of the main personal issues I have with "cash cow" rehabilitation facilities is the fact that seldomly do they effectively treat the underlying issues of addiction such as trauma, as you mentioned. Additionally, and unfortunately, per my personal experience, as an addict with complex generational trauma and several severe clinically diagnosed mental disorders, these treatment facilities usually aren't educated enough and/or are I'll equipped to professionally and effectively treat the prevalence of the commodity of complex trauma, mental illnesses and alcoholism and addiction. At least that has been my personal experience and I have been to over 5 rehabs in Southern California. Any thoughts?

I don't see the problem. If I have a choice in how I die I'd choose heroin. Seems like a better option than working for the next 40 years, getting cancer, and dying while in constant pain.

As a person who knows a lot of addicts and recreational drug users, i can honestly say ive never met an open heroin user. People will pop some coke out a dinner but heroin addicts will hide away. Heroin will destroy your life after 1 hit. Ive literally heard addicts in recovery saying they feel like they settled for less even though they are stable and clean

When I was in a hospital (unrelated to drugs) we had a lecture about the reason most people get addicted is for a escape from their issues

Both together is the probably the most dangerous of all.
I feel like this really undersold the difference in addiction potential between the two. Cocaine can be used as a "special occasion," drug, it's really only as bad for your body as getting quite drunk (fine once in a while, bad if it's every night), while heroine is much harder to use casually and infrequently.

This is exactly why I will never try any street drug even if I was offered it for free and knew I wouldn't get in trouble with the police. It's not worth ruining your life just to get high. The war on drugs doesn't seem to be working though so we do need to find a more effective solution to this drug problem.

You're exactly right. Anything that is banned outright will create a huge black market for it. If you legalize it and put high taxation on it, even the government can make so much money from it to make healthcare as cheap as possible

The war on drugs is completely wrong. People who do drugs shouldn’t be placed in the same category as a violent criminal. Doing drugs does not make you a bad person. If someone has a problem with drug use, we should help them and send them to rehab instead of sending them to jail. Also, alcohol is way more dangerous and abusive than most other drugs, yet is is legal.

I agree, for the most part, however unfortunately drugs abuse is still often tied into violent criminal behavior. However, yes, there is a big difference between just a functioning addict who got caught, and an addict robbing a liquor store for their next fix.

Admittedly I've done crack cocaine and not regular cocaine which is slightly different but I think it's a bit of a shove to say it makes you feel superior to people. It certainly gives a confidence boost and helps with my social anxiety but I can't say it's ever made me feel superior to anyone.

I would put coke on the “mild” drugs list. Not strong enough to be a “hard” drug, but good enough to not be a “weak” drug.

Addiction can be a symptom of something bigger, like trauma.
If drug addicts received empathy and care, I’m sure things would improve.
As an addict in recovery, I fully agree. One of the main personal issues I have with "cash cow" rehabilitation facilities is the fact that seldomly do they effectively treat the underlying issues of addiction such as trauma, as you mentioned. Additionally, and unfortunately, per my personal experience, as an addict with complex generational trauma and several severe clinically diagnosed mental disorders, these treatment facilities usually aren't educated enough and/or are I'll equipped to professionally and effectively treat the prevalence of the commodity of complex trauma, mental illnesses and alcoholism and addiction. At least that has been my personal experience and I have been to over 5 rehabs in Southern California. Any thoughts?
