@PanAmerican Seed Is there a way to store these and use them the next year? I have unpelleted petunia seeds that last for many years. Pelleted seeds are down to 10-20% viability in year two. Is there anything to do about this?
For small seed like begonia, one seed per pellet takes an experienced pelleter to produce. It takes about 2 years to train an employee to pellet every type of seed we produce. Begonia is one of the last crops they learn as it can be difficult to produce a batch without empties or doubles. The type of powder we use, how we apply the powder, and a lot of experience is how we can achieve one seed per pellet. Thanks for the question!
@@PASVideoTV One of the first things I learnt about flower seed when I started out in the Nursery business 33 years ago was how fine Begonia seed actually is. A figure of 81000 seed per gram is still stuck in my head, lol. Not sure if that is accurate for Begonia Semperflorens, the varieties we grow in 6 packs here in South Africa. You literally cannot sow it by hand, its so fine, like dust. I've sown a gram of Begonia seed in a few centimetres of space, the trouble comes when you want to prick out those tiny plants. So, we leave our Begonia sowing to Ball/Straathof in Gauteng who supply our Nursery with flower plug seedlings.
Para saber si una semilla está correctamente peletizado, coloca 10 cápsulas de petri con agua y colocas 10 semillas peletizadas ese conteo por cápsulas le daría el 100 por ciento
