sucks seeing TH-cam channels slowly start turning their videos into subliminal adds for their products. It's like creators forget why people watch in the first place...
Yes, no one who operates a TH-cam channel should ever make and demonstrate their own gear. Much better for large companies to sell us everything we want to buy, not small businesses or knowledgeable content creators.
You do know black scout survival started as a product sales company and is first and foremost. TH-cam came much later. I’m not an”creator” or “influencer” but a business owner that just so happen to make TH-cam videos.

I've learned that it's not a "camping" kit, but a move now bag. I do still use a 5.11 rush 24, which is too much honestly. It's what I had!
Is the only thing you had/have really too much? It's not like you have to load a larger bag all the way full. You do the best you have with what you've got. Way too much can turn into not enough pretty quick in some situations.

I'm not sure if cash will be King during SHTF, however, you are right! I've got Constitutional silver in my bag, {heavy yes} extra mags & my IFAK. I'd add more food, because it's going to take me a few days to go 400 miles, and right now, THAT'S the only plan I've got...
I keep cash in my wallet. And gold and silver bouillon in my concealment belt that’s on me at all times.
Terrific 😍👍 I'd like to see a reflector blanket as all of the apocalypse movies I have watched they hunt survivors with thermal imaging! They also Use Gas or smoke to kill them off inside of dwellings so a gas mask of some sort?

LOL I already knew this would be a good video, but then I stated questioning the fishing line being part of what should be kept very readily available. Thinking who is going to have time to fish when you're on the fly (pardon the pun. lol)

You're on the run - you pass a stream and set a Trotline. If you're still in the area later on, you know where you can check for a quick and easy meal (protein.)

What's your opinion on a camel pack in a bug out bag? I know it's that $hitty plastic but a stainless bottle on the go isn't exactly ideal .. Thoughts & opinions please Jack & The Tribe?
Really nice set up. Have you ever thought about adding a silk sleeping bag liner to that mylar sleeping bag? The real silk ones are not that cheap, but man do they add serious warmth to that setup. When they say they add 12 to 15 degrees of warmth, they do, if not more. It makes a huge difference when using those mylar bags.
You should look into making a Black Scout silk bag liner, but a GOOD one. Use heavy silk like a 28 or 30 momme weight. That's just how many pounds a 45 inch by 100 yards bolt of silk weighs. So, 30 pounds per 100 yards is heavy duty silk and made to last and can handle real emergency shelter needs. Keep up the great work.

Personally, I like a larger bag for the smaller kit assembly to give me the flexibility of carrying the opportunistic find along the trek. The addition of a pack of lifeboat rations would be lightweight, but allow the flexibility of dealing with unexpected delays along the trek; that planned 1-2 day trek could become an unplanned week due to injuries, laying doggo from being hunted, etc.
That’s the philosophy MacGuyver had about why he carried a large, empty bag: “….it’s for what I can find along the way.”

Great info as always! Quick inexpensive go bag to address your basic needs. Your location will dictate what else you may want to add to aid in your goal obviously urban situations are different than people who live out in the north forty. Mike Bryant, That looks like a nice bag. I just don’t like slings. I keep a small kit in a Rush 12. Basically my EDC bag. My sleep system can attach to the bottom and a tool pouch to the side then it’s my Get Home Bag. 5.11 bags will last for ages of hard use.
You continually provide the best content on TH-cam My whole family now carries very similar kits in thier cars with the addition of tier one first aid it has saved a couple of lives already during recent storms here in the free state of Florida I always have to thank you for your continued service Sir and now May I Have Another Sir👍

Liked your video. Personally I use a Haversack from Raging River. Custom built and easy to grab and go. Because I have a service dog with me, I have to use a 64oz stainless steel water bottle. Just so both of us have water.
My multi tool is a custom made Leatherman surge for bushcraft.
Energy for us is MTN OPS greens in power individual packets, with caffeine.
Attached to the bottom is a 3x3 DD Tarp. Quick basic med kit is an absolute must.

Quality kit!! I'd just replace the Leatherman with a Victorinox Swisstool, but that's a personal preference.
No first aid?... Just a small snack Ziploc with Aleve singles, alcohol wipes, Neosporin, band aids, tweezers and some Super Glue?
Question Jack:Instead of the purification tabs plus the straw plus the bag or cup/bottle...why not just bring a Sawyer mini? Sincerely-D.

Wrap some gorilla tape on the bic.
Cheap snap blade razor knife.
A few hard candies, no nutrients but some calories, and good for moral, never expires.
200 lb test Kevlar string, very compact, great for snares, shelter, trip wires, big fish!
I wouldn't really plan on cooking much with a go bag that size, just use some gel energy packs like the bicycle people eat during a race. Or go without eating for a few days, our ancestors did it all the time during hunts, and exploration.
The same company that makes your bivy bag, also makes one in OD green. Forgive me if I missed it, but do you have any cordage? Sawyer mini water filter is smaller and more versatile. Just my thoughts anyway.
The same people that gripe about this being expensive are the same ones that pay 300$ for air pod ear buds… bet. Just that canteen set alone at SRO Canterbury are 45-50$
I guess leerning about sun dials can help determine time without a watch. To purify water.

I like adding nutritional flavor packs to treated water. You’re right, it tastes nasty. I have the GCC, BSS flashlight and your survival kit. The only thing I would add is a small saw.
Jack I built one of these for my work truck awhile back just for my work truck…I dont work outside the county very often and made it to get home in a few hours to a day or so…
Would it be smart to use a bushcraft set up and 72 hour set up and blend together for a sustainment load?
You have the mug with the canteen, ditch the pan you don't need it for short term carry
Need a small zip-lock bag of GORP, maybe with some MMs mixed in the GORP to lift your spirits a tad
Nice kit, one thing i always wondered, do you start with the canteen full of water, I always do that as in the desert it might be a while before i find water but water is also a bit heavy.
Thank goodness there was no fuel tab stove. Those are a joke when you live at elevation
I this kit I can put something like this together and keep it simple.
Everyone prepares, but they call you crazy if you prepare for the big things as well as the little.
I have my Winter (snow) prepare kit I keep in my car. 0° sleeping bag, rock salt, cat litter, window deicer, Halo power supply. Where I live you may or may not have cell service to call for help, so if I have to wait on help I'm going to be comfortable.

Excellent demonstration coupled with sound counsel! I put a micro kit together more than 40 years ago at the urging of my father. And since that time I've never been without the bare essentials on any outing however seemingly benign. That fact likely saved my life twice. The first time I'd chalk up to getting myself into a predicament due to inexperience and youthful exuberance. The last time because we live in a world where things can go sideways without preview or forewarning. Great job on this video!
