- All new 2023 Lexus GX 460 Black Line Review by Cars No Cap. The Lexus GX 460 is putting down 301hp 329 lb-ft tq from a 4.6L NA V8. This is one of the few Lexus/Toyota vehicles sold in the US that is still built in Japan to ensure the highest quality standards. Starting at $63k USD, would you buy it over a Mercedes G550, Mercedes G-Class, Jeep Wrangler, Ford Bronco, Toyota 4Runner, Toyota Sequoia, or Toyota Land Cruiser?
Just bought my 2023 a few weeks ago. Grew up with 4runners and sold my 2020 for the GX. Thought I'd hate the barn style backdoor but it doesn't bother me much and even prefer it most of the time.

No, you're wrong to hate the barn door..... that barn door is meant to be installed with either a giant gas tank or an extra spare tire.... you can't install gas tank bracket or extra spare tire on liftgate... ask the serious offroading people....they all love and thankful for the barn door.....
I wanna buy this car and keep it for 20 years.

What a great review.I am buying a '23 GX Luxury ,tomorrow.I own a J200 Land Cruiser which should long outlive moi.This vid helped sell my wife on the purchase. I am 75 years old and it is good to hear from a young man whose sensibility sounds to be much older than his years.The V8 in this vehicle will long outlive the turbo boosted 6 banger in the '24 model which only gets 1mpg more. Keep up the good work young man.

Where it really shines is off-road driving. Got my 23 GX BL in March and put 5K hard miles on it on forest/backcountry roads on many camping trips, and it performed flawlessly. It’s basically bullet proof. Will lift it in a couple of years so I can go anywhere with this car

For me personally after watching and test driving the newer Toyota's..Even the new GX..I wasn't impress.. Before pulling the trigger... I went right back to a GX460. I also owned a 2021 Land-Rover Discovery HSE..worst SUV IMO. I ended up selling it within the first 6 months .. So I Couldn't agree more with your review on the GX.. quality /reliability 100% . Just traded in my 2016 Luxury GX460.. Bought the 2023 Premium model Caviar color. Swapped-out stock suspension for the Bilstein Front 6112 / R-5160 added Front & rear Duro-Bump stops. This Changed the ride quality with almost no more body roll to a smoother ride quality.. Kept the stock height..Best all around daily /highway driving one could ask for IMO. I'll NEVER sell this SVU. One can now drive with a Peace of mind.
That's awesome! Great to hear feedback from another long term GX owner. I may never sell mine either. I also want to do suspension/tires. So the bilsteins you got keep it at stock height? Are you running larger tires too?
No..same stock size ..I just went a bit more A/T Falken Wildpeak .. For me is the perfect ride.. I also live in Colorado and spend a lot time both on both dirt/highway roads.. Also 50% RCI under body protections shield out.. @@MakingMonroe

Own a 2010 GX with over 120k miles. I can tell you, it drives and rides exactly the way you describe your new model. They are built phenomenally well!

I bought two 2022 premium plus sport design. I kinda wish I had got one nori green blackline. But I think the GX is top 3 vehicles on earth. Very nice ride man enjoy it for many years to come. Don’t get rid of it

“Limo” …. Never used that description before but when I drove my GX460 luxury home from the dealer yesterday ….. I felt “limo” & told my salesman ….. I never even felt the cattle guards I went over.
Think I’m going to name mine …. “Cloud!” cause that’s how it feels - floating on Cloud 9.
It is a Land Cruiser Prado with a V8, the last V8.

I just got my 2023 Lexus GX 2 weeks ago. Incredible ride quality. That backseat mirror is a sunglasses holder. Just pull it down and it opens further. Great review! Keep the GX man, it’s the last of its breed!
Congrats and agreed on the ride quality! I do love this thing and am leaning towards keeping it. Plus if I do trade it id probably get a 4Runner so not too different…You just blew my mind with the sunglass holder. I'm trying that as soon as I get in the car tomorrow lol thank you

There is a sticker over the mirror from the factory that tells you to pull it down further

The body lean In The GX is much better/lesss then the 4Runner limited for sure. But both are great. I love my 2023 GX premium plus. Fixes many issues the 4Runner had/has

Nice job on this review. I have always enjoyed this vehicle. Currently have a 2019 Audi Q7 which has been reliable. Just thinking of one of the Toyota Lexus products for longevity and reliability.

Just bought 2017 gx premium sport for $26k. Could've bought new but didnt want payments. Added trd pro bronze wheels and loving the stance. Couldn't stand the tucked in look with oem wheels. This will be one of my forever cars for me

That’s great congratulations. It really is a great vehicle I love it. The quality is truly the best. I think the interior quality and materials are better than it’s German rivals after owning it for a while now. Audi/BMW interiors *look* nicer but the materials feel cheap compared to this Lexus.

the gx has a similar depreciation its about 5 year 50% depreciation but after the 5th year it retains value extremely well
Similar to what? The GX holds really well during the first three years and then does drop off after that however if you consider the useful life of the vehicle and you keep it for ~300k miles it does well compared to competitors in terms of monthly depreciation expense. Much better than say a similarly equipped X5.

Your assessment is spot on about this vehicle I know because I to have one myself bought brand new. I love this vehicle and I have the black line edition with the mark levinson stereo system 12 speakers and it sounds so amazing going down the interstate to the beach. I will keep this vehicle until the wheels fall off.

Part of the reason I'm extremely apprehensive about selling my V8 4Runner this month because I bought a new GX this year...
Yeah someone did mention this, and that was my fault. I thought it had the 4.6 but it was the 4.7. I think you'll get plenty of miles out of your new GX though, the 4.6 is also super solid.
@@MakingMonroe I'm a Lexus master tech and the 4.6 has had its share of issues over the years but I haven't seen really any of them since the 2020 facelift. Though time will tell I suppose. The 2023s have been coming in off the transport with wet transfer cases. Including mine. I also have a black line. They only made a very small number of these in 2023 vs 2022 so we definitely have collectors items! I hope you enjoy yours enough to keep it

How are the light grey handle the dirt? Do they get dirty quick and are easy to clean out? Thats my only consern with that interior color.
So far it hasn’t been too prone to getting dirty and I have a golden retriever that I throw in there often. It’s also been durable too. No tears or punctures after 6k miles

I'm looking for a green 23 BL but can't find one. We bought a 22 green BL and like it so much we want to buy a 23 as insurance in case the 22 is wrecked, but can't find one. I will by a regular 23 if I find the BL's are sold out.

Both good choices, I’d test drive them. GX is definitely more of a rugged solid truck feeling vehicle. Body on frame vs unibody.

I cross shopped all of these when I bought the GX. The GX isn’t the flashiest, most fuel efficient or most cutting edge tech, but it will be the longest lasting and most reliable of these and there was just something about driving it that I loved. The power train is crazy smooth and the cabin is whisper quiet.
