This is the place where the Tabernacle or Tent of Meeting stood for 369 years and also where the Ark of the Covenant rested in the Holy of Holies. When news came of the death of Eli's sons and of the Ark being taken by the Philistines, this was also the place where Eli fell backwards off his chair and broke his neck - ending his life.
