My rose bush seems to only be growing on one side, it appears one side is very woody I tried trimming it right back just after winter but seen no growth so far on that side. Is this the end for my bush? ☹️
I watch this every August to remember the technique. This August, my roses are now gorgeous, blooming like crazy, probably because it hasn't been so hot. Should I still trim/feed now --- it seems a shame to cut off the blooms. Should I prune now or wait until they stop blooming?
It is perfectly fine to skip the August pruning. We usually have "tired" roses in August, but this year has been different. If they are healthy and well-shaped, I would skip this year.
@@backbonevalleynursery104 , my knock out roses are full of blooms but this summer they really need a hair cut like you did, as of now it’s September and full of blooms , but out of control can I do it now?
@@gabbyferreira4786 It is fine to do a "light shear", or "deadhead", which means removing spent blooms. It would be better to wait until mid-late February for a more significant pruning. The later you wait to prune the more likely you will encourage new growth that may be hit by a freeze.

I haven’t done anything to it since I got it 2 summers ago.... it flowered during the summer and early fall but now we turned off the water since it’s below the freezing temperature... can I still prune it now or just wait until next summer? There’s a few branches and a couple of them are dead.... don’t know what to do with it.
Heavy pruning should be reserved for right before they leaf out in the spring in Late February to Early March in Central Texas. Lighter "shearings" may be done between blooms, but should only be to shape and deadhead.

Do not prune Lady Banksia roses now. Since they are a "spring-only " bloomer they should only be pruned immediately after flowering. Pruning later in the year will remove flower buds that have formed for next spring, and you would not have flowers next year.

How many times a year can you trim them like this? I cut mine back to 18 inches in spring and there huge right now

Same question! Only mine's just finished withering as it's 100° (August) almost everyday here in Nor-cal so I'm just not sure if now is a good time!?
