Atwater reminds me of a long distant family member of sorts. His demeanor and understanding of the streets as a detective makes him more relatable to so many people, regardless of race.

It is literally always jay that goes missing. Like what the heck. He better be alive or else I will be soooo mad 😡
I think the reason Jay is the one that always goes missing and ends up getting in major trouble has a lot to do with the fact that he's a lot like Hank in many ways & in some ways he's not and there's no doubt that Hank cares about his whole team ( no doubt ) but he Really cares a lot about Jay almost like a son we saw that last season when Jay went against Hank's Orders to go after the guy that had something to do with his father's death that ended in Jay getting shot then and a mouth full from Hank. but whatever the case taking nothing from the rest of the team who are all great characters Jay is really a huge fan favorite among the fans the fans absolutely love Jay Halstead especially us lady fans so the writers & producer's realize how popular he is so they atomically come up with ways to boost the ratings even more than they already are so let's put Halstead 's life In danger again & again. And even though us fans absolutely hates jay' s life being in danger it still makes for a great season & an amazing fall / winter finale. But it's going to drive us absolutely crazy till Jan wondering how it's going to turn out. WOW !

yes absolutely I agree with you both completely it would definitely be sad not just sad but devastating to the rest of the team & to us fans especially after last season when he was shot then & now for him to be kidnapped then shot & his life In danger all over again in this season it really does stink & if our sweetheart Jay dies trust me I feel the same way you do I'm a huge fan of Jay 's he' s my favorite character on Chicago PD. And what's really sad for me this season on my other favorite show NCIS NEW ORLEANS I'v already lost my favorite character on there Chris LaSalle played by
( Lucas Black) was just recently shot then he ended up not making it . And now this just happened to Jay on PD so yes I absolutely agree i will be angry & really sad also if he doesn't make it . But i have a good feeling that Jay will survive & come back from this because we all know how strong he is .

It's about time the Real Chicago PD came back!!! Although they have seemed to lose the power and ability to have three storylines flowing in one hour as in the first 5 seasons. This episode was more like the Ole days, instead of a watered down Charlie's Angel's meets S.W.A.T..... See ya in January!!

He is still muscular, he just tone down over the years. He started to slim down in Season Five. It looks like he changed his workout routine. He was muscular thick in Season Three and Four and then he started to tone down but still remains muscular since Season 5.
They seriously need to hold open auditions for writers on CPD. Jay gets shot up and kidnapped every season, Al got killed off because the lazy bums didn’t want to write for the character anymore (WTF!!!!) Antonio..same thing, Platt is next cause she’s getting about 30 seconds an episode now. It’s like the writers worst nightmare is a successful show
