What a sensitive and so well balanced take on this beautiful song. I think it can be common for jazz pianists to destroy the heart of a song with an overkill approach with improvisation and unusual chord structures but this is just so gorgeously restrained and a tender, gorgeous performance.
Finding the notes and melody of such a very sad and heartfelt song had to be a "little torture" to create. Every time I hear it, I find myself settling into a more reflective and thoughtful train of thought. Thank you for this beautiful music.
It's good that Fred hasn't really "jazzified" this tune which would really render it too "way out". It's a very tasteful rendition which characterizes everything he plays.
So pretty, gorgeous version of Billy Joel's beautiful song. Lovely performance !
very talented pianist, such a fine orchestration! Thank you, sir!
here i am..took me an entire week to remember the details of this melody i had in my head and find the author of this rendition.

I don’t think it is common at all … I like this rendition a lot!
@@rieske2000 I should rephrase I agree it is not common however the melody and tune have not been overridden. It's a beautiful piece of playing.
Beyond beautiful, every tone "speaks"
grandioses arrangement ❤❤

bedanke mich bei meinem lieblingsmenschen UW für die empfehlung!
Soft, lyrical and lovely. As a pianist I’m interested in watching your hands perform the piece. More hands please Fred. 🙂
Absolutely . . . no doubt . . . beautiful.
Heart-rendering in all its meanings. Looking forward to upcoming gig in Perugia.
Simplemente maravillosa. Gracias Billy. Gracias Fred. Gracias :-)
