      @@billybee3423 Really? I didn't realize that he regretted it. I think it's beautiful homage and I love almost everything Bocephus has recorded and acknowledge his father's greatness and influence as an earlier American country singer.

    • @nates.249
      @nates.249 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Chicken_Wing91 That's a good point. I'd also like to add that Bocephus never had the opportunity to sing with his dad in person, so the technology that had become available in the 80's allowed him to do so. Also for anyone interested in checking out more musical homages to Hank Sr. by Hank Jr., check out "Hank" by Hank Jr. and also the Austin City Limits performance by Hank Jr. and his band in 1980.

    This song was written by Hank Sr and recorded but never released, so the only version of it was the original recording track, not even a master was done. This Demo that was then given to Hank Jr by Bill Lister who had found it and released a version of it. This Demo(something that was meant to be disposable as it only needed to last until the master was cut) lasted from its recording in the 50s until it was given to Hank Jr in 1988, and then released it in 1989. So Hank William Sr's Finial New release was a Duet with his Son, released 36 years after his death.

    Hank Williams was legendary. He put superstardom on the map. There were other big names before him, but none of them came close to the level Hank Williams achieved. He is the most prolific songwriter I've ever heard. More people have recorded his music than any other artist in history. There's no telling what else he may have accomplished had he lived beyond 29 years old!

    Hank Sr was amazing, he's been so influential in country music it's insane. Actually some other genres of artist covered his songs. In my opinion the KING of country, people can debate that if they like. He had so many hit's by the age of 29 (when he passed) it's insane. The hits Williams SR and JR had put up is mind blowing....best father/son combo in music history, my opinion of course.

    My dad was always and still is an alcoholic. But I remember as a kid seeing him drinking so much until he’d start singing along (my father loved classic country, especially Hank Williams Sr) and he’d literally have tears in his eyes as he’d sing along and take a drink from his favorite beer. My mother, even though she loves this song, can’t even listen to it without thinking about the time she saw him drunk, singing along with tears in his eyes. 😂

    Hank Jr did an album like this with his son Hank III. They sung a lot of Hank Sr's songs featuring all 3 of them. Some were just Hank Sr and Hank III singing together.

    It's nice watching your reaction to this video! I remember in 1989 watching this thinking it was such great technology for that era, the reason Hank Williams senior stands the way he does is cuz he had spina bifida which is a spinal disorder which also made him as thin as he was! Just a little bit of background! Glad you liked the video!!❤

    This was amazing(still is) when it came out. They took Hank Jr's lips singing this song & put it on Hank Srs face, slowed down the video cause it's from a different Hank Sr song. That same yr they did the same thing with Nat King Cole & his daughter Natalie Cole. In the early 80's 2 Country Classic Singers who never performed together had 2 hits on the radio almost 20 yrs after their deaths. Patsy Cline & Jim Reeves. Same with Jim Reeves & Deborah Allen. It's a treat for us fans when things like this happens. Which isn't very often.

    Hank Williams Sr had that same kind of superstar mystique about him, like Elvis did. But back before Elvis.
    They're obviously different styles, but hopefully you know what I mean. He just had confidence, charm, he was flashy, and captured people's attention. He was a unique legend that majorly influenced the whole genre for decades. He passed WAY too soon. Can't imagine what songs we missed out on by him passing so soon.
    He's on my Mount Rushmore of favorite artists, along with Hank Jr, Alan Jackson, and George Jones.

    If you ever hear someone say Luke the drifter they're talking about Hank Sr. He did gospel B4 he was discovered. He wrote most of if not all of his songs.
    When he and his wife went to meet with a record producer the man told him that he was taking Ms. Aubrey to lunch and if he was as good as she says he was when he gets back Hank will play him a song he just wrote with a street, a girl and losing the girl. When He got back there sat Hank in the producers chair, his feet on his desk and guitar in hand. He began to The song I can't help it if I'm still in love with you. Listen to it please cause it really shows his talent. And it's what got him signed to a record deal.
