That scream is honestly the best/worst noise I've ever heard in a horror movie. I can't imagine what the fuck was happening to her because I've never heard anyone make a noise like that before. Whether her death was sexual or not, it was definitely excruciating and creative.

Definitely unnerving, but I don't think the way it's shot (at least the available deleted scene, as cut) quite works. There are moments where it's just blatantly a man in a suit. A physically remarkable man in an aesthetically remarkable suit, but a man in a suit nonetheless.
That may be why it was left out. Because it is such an unnerving image when it's convincing, I can see no reason to cut it, except for those "rubber monster suit" moments.

The screams go on for a longtime, that along with her not having any pants on afterwards seems clear Lambert was violated. Ridley's commentary on the Alien being attracted to Ripley when she was in her underwear supports this. It is also implied throughout the series that the Aliens enjoy sadistically causing harm to everyone even there own.

I personally think it put it's tail inside of her. It's heavily implicated both by the director and the film itself. You can actually hear Lambert breathing like she is in lamas class before she really starts screaming. Considering how much HR Giger and Ridley Scott fought for many of the images of Giger's work on the film to actually make it into the film I would have to say that a full on shikibob rape/murder would have been too much over the top for the studio and the censors to take. So all you see of Lambert is her naked legs dangling and dripping blood from unseen wounds. Subtle and
    tastefully done in my opinion.

Here's my hot take of the day: Alien is scarier for adults than it is for kids. To a kid this is just a horrible monster killing people. As you get older though, you start to see more and more of the implications behind the Alien and what it does. Not only do you feel terror, but revulsion at what it does that creates a pit in your stomach prompting a binge watch of funny cat videos after the fact to forget about it.

Thorsteinn Gislason But what if the tail is the reproductive element; both functional as a stinger that injects an incapacitating agent into a host, and a reproductive agent, that introduces the enzymes for the process fans refer to as egg morphing. Or something worse again.
I would love to see the creatures have another agent in their hierarchy, something akin to the backbursters’ of Covenant that somehow further the reproductive fitness of the hive. Created by manner of traumatic insemination as is hinted and implied by the horrific manner of Lambert’s death.
Ie, the action figure company Neca, released a white drone that was to serve in the hive as an egg handler, and instead of a secondary jaw, it had a phallic proboscis that perhaps secreted the material that lined the hive, or served some reproductive method like the facehuggers.
When creative restraint is exercised, but the creatures expanded upon, in dangerous and slightly sexually suggestive manners, and the creatures not entirely predictable, alien becomes its most... alien. And frightening. Like the eponymous creature from the Thing. You don’t know what it’s going to do next, how it’s going to brutally reproduce with its hosts, or even what specific form may result from this process. Making it truly the top of the evolutionary food chain, and that no matter what approach you take to eradicate it, it will quickly adapt with a new methology that will eventually catch you unawares, and have you gasping “kill me” as some nasty, indescribable metamorphosis occurs within in you, or of you.

Thats what I thought too, but the aliens instinctive "mind" might contain something, or things that it nevertheless craves, but which it cannot fully grasp, nor fulfill. Since it is possessed by this blind rage as an deep inherent trait.

This is the only YT thread where, after viewing the videos, I cannot wait to read the comments, which speaks volumes to the creative and intellectual levels on display here. Fantastic channel!
This Xeno definitely seems to possess some personality traits, whether through observation or behavioral growth. Like curiosity, such as when it's watching Lambert, Brett, Jonesy, or even Ripley. Or, maybe, a bit of cockiness, as when it displays its various mouth weapons for Ripley during the shuttle showdown buildup. And definitely not out of the realm of possibility is a bit of the inexperienced sexual fumbling of a relative "youngster."
Trying your best to remove the nearly impossible-to-film "crab walk" from your mind, focus on what it's doing here: in what must feel like a "submissive" position, sensing a possible "mate" and even...erecting its tail to a higher degree to follow and understand new instincts, drives, and possibly waiting for a response in kind. And THEN, when Lambert's mind is totally unable to cope, Big Chap stands but does not strike, almost wanting to (and I know this is most likely far too human) continue its assessment/courting (two extremes) of this different specimen. It doesn't even begin to reveal its layered mouth weaponry, choosing instead to almost >smile< in a fashion that seems tame (but certainly feels otherwise to us, and as Ridley Scott spoke to a disappointed Veronica Cartwright after she found that she was being cast as Lambert, paraphrased, "Lambert is the emotional content of the audience").
I've always felt that this Xeno, like any other newborn creature, must still learn at least some of the social customs of its new home, even while the unstoppable operations of instinct and speed of learning drive forward. Along with Scott stating, "Yes, this was a violation-type death," there is no other reasonable conclusion. The horrible death sounds from Lambert leave a lot to the imagination, except for one clear section, and most here would agree with what that is. Also, because Lambert can scream functionally at the end, this reveals that her head/throat would be intact, which causes my conclusion to be "death from fear/fright due to violative attack."
(Just typing this comment made me uncomfortable. However, great movies cause great depths of thought to be examined. Also, someone here (?) mentioned Parker "whimpering" at some point in this scene. I've never seen or heard anything like "whimpering" from Parker. FTM, I'm still trying to figure out what he says directly before the Xeno strikes his forehead!)

One thing I find strange about Lambert's personal history is the whole sex reassignment idea. From the short bit of research I did into it, the sources imply that this procedure was performed at or shortly after birth. Perhaps the movie meant that she was born intersex/hermaphroditic instead, with her parents requesting surgery to remove the male features? Or perhaps in this dark future, it's not uncommon for parents to alter the sex of their child at birth to fit their own desires for their children. Whatever the case, it's a strange yet interesting detail.
Anyhow, great and informative video here!

He said that part ended up being cut because it was too gory. I can’t remember exactly which magazine( Penthouse or Hustler, maybe) as this was 1980 or so, and I was just a kid. He said that part “ended up on the cutting room floor).

I always figured it ran it’s tail up inside her and out her mouth. This would lift her off the ground and as the tail slowly drove it’s way through her body, she’d be screaming and writhing In unbearable pain until it finally pushed its way out her mouth and silencing her. Her boots fell off her feet as she’s lifted, and when the Zeno withdraws the tail, her pants are ripped off in the process.
Canonically according to the creators, Lambert has her face chewed open and her head punched in and left hanging partially intact.

    After watching all the various alien incarnations, I've come up with this personal theory;
You have a Queen, laying eggs, when there's a queen. When a drone's alone, it tries ANYTHING to procreate, (that's it's only purpose when it's by itself separated from a queen) and since it's birth host was human, and it has human dna incorporated within it, why would it not attempt to violate Lambert?
The alien takes on the characteristics of each host to some extent, perhaps these characteristics get past along, (including ones that involve procreation) from one generation to the next - from every host it's race has encountered - literally giving it limitless ways to procreate.
You have egg morphing one moment - then you have the predalien implanting eggs down the throat of pregnant women the next. When there's a queen, it's back to egg laying.
Each time, adding something to the species, ensuring the next generation's survival.
    BTW - LOVE your channel.

      @jduttskywalker 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Well it's also been added that the predalien in AVP 2 was actually a young queen. Young queen xenomorphs have the ability to implant embryos like that in order to establish a hive quickly. Had she had a longer life she would have grown that huge egg sac and started laying eggs.

Alien is the most terrifying movie of them all. There’s never one point in the film where you feel relaxed. The Aliens appearance seems to mimic the cold, dark metallic interior of the Nostromo. The underestimation of the creature by the crew is all the more prevalent when you watch it again after watching the sequels. There is a safety in numbers vibe to the other films, especially Aliens. In Alien they all go off alone at various points, only for a split second and it’s frustrating but you forget that the creature in this film is completely unknown at this point, even to Ripley. And at the point where most of the characters die, they haven’t yet seen the alien fully grown, aside from Parker catching a glimpse during Brett’s death scene. They all go about their duties half knowing what to expect based on Ripley and Parker’s description but when they see the creature for the first time, you can see in their faces that the sheer monstrosity of it blows their minds and renders them useless and paralysed with fear, also a lot of the characters stare at it as though trying to take the sheer magnitude of the creature in, like Lambert who was clearly skittish before the alien got on board. People debate the rape scene more since the sequels because we have come to understand their breeding cycle and the concept has never been explored so provocatively again in the films, so it’s hard to imagine why the alien would violate Lambert but it’s highly probable that it would use any means necessary to procreate since that’s it’s only agenda and can’t survive for long with the absence of a hive. Maybe it was going to make Lambert a queen. We don’t know that if the Nostromo wouldn’t have been destroyed and managed to dock somewhere that there wouldn’t have been some huge queen aboard with a shit load of eggs being protected by Dallas and Brett Aliens.

I dont think that the alien could literally rape Lambert. The Xenomorphs reproduce quite differently from humans. Xenomorph Drone/Warrior doesn't have a penis or any kind of human-like reproducing organ. And the creature certainly can't feel any kind of sexual desire (especially towards humans) that would make it want to rape it's victims.
Most likely the alien just killed Lambert in a very brutal way (like piercing and ripping her body with it's tail). While you say this is a rape-like kill, it is definitely NOT a literal rape.
The only Xenomorph subspecies that can "rape" people are the facehuggers.

Theres actually multiple versions of how Lambert died. The one we see in the film that the book elaborates on where the alien has tried to force her body in a duct and it wont fit, another in the original script where she hides in a locker, has a heart attack and dies of fright and a concept floated around (which finally appeared in Alien: Resurrection) where Big Chaps acid blood causes a hull breach and Lambert gets slowly sucked out through the hole.

Yeah, she was raped. The clues are all there.
1: The alien sliding it's tail between her legs in a very suggestive manner. (I am well aware that this scene is actually the death scene of Breth. But the directors decided to use it for Lamber's death, and they knew exactly how this was going to look from the side.)
2: She was screaming for what seemed like 13 seconds. And in-between those screams, you could actually hear the alien doing some weird sounds. Until she finally made her final scream.
3: When Ripley finally arrived to the scene, Lambert's body could partially be seen, hanging from somewhere. But the important thing to point out here is, that you could see her naked legs, with blood going down on them.
Since the alien has no visible genitalia, we can assume, based on the fact it slided it's tail between her legs, that the alien used it's tail to sexually violate Lambert. And she probably died from the shock and internal injuries that she received from the tail, going inside her... female genitalia. Which is why when Ripley showed up on the scene, Lamberts lower half of the body, was naked and blood was going down between her legs.

I believe that the Xenomorph slowly shoved it's tail up Lambert's nether region, pushes it through her body. The tail eventually exits her from out of her mouth, and even lifting her off the ground. She's surprisingly still alive at this point but is obviously in massive pain and struggling to breathe, giving off a sort of… panicked snorting. Then the Xenomorph hangs her on something on the ceiling, then rapidly and painfully removes its tail from her, causing her final scream. The extraction also rips her pants off. The massive blood lose is what kills her from here.
That's how I believe the Xenomorph murders Lambert.

Only because of examinations of this sort do these ideas even register in my brain. These hints or suggestions, or subtexts people 'discover' or see always surprise me. To me the creature is just killing her in a new way; keeping her from leaving. With a tail between the legs she can't run. It doesn't seem to be going anywhere specific with that tail ...except for her back? I always thought she was stabbed & then jawed. But stabs to the back, particularly the lungs leave the victim unable to scream or shout. (Did the producers know that?) So I may be wrong.
But also I never saw that she had no pants on. Seen the movie plenty of times, never saw that. Maybe she bolts & the lacerating effect of sharp spines on it's tail shred them? Where it then picks her up for the final blow.

In Alien, Aliens, and Alien 3 (There are only three, be quiet.) The Xenomorph always has a similar MO when it comes to dealing with humans in a one on one setting. Men, Males; They kill immediately, usually with a puncture to the skull, save for Brett and Dallas. I attribute the Alien 1 xenomorph's behavior to desperation, or biological failsafes. Women are treated with more immediate hostility towards their physical being. Vasquez is stormed by several aliens at once along with the invalid Gorman. Lambert, as we've discussed above, is physically assaulted. Perhaps, and this is my own conjecture, The Xenomorphs, instead of leading towards procreation, are instead eliminating potential threats to the longevity of the hive. Men are simply killed, Women are destroyed. I think that the Alien aboard the Nostromo violated Lambert with its tail to destroy her uterus, violently plunging up between her legs with that bladed tail. Not as an act of sexuality, but an act of removing competition. Maybe.

Vasquez was only stormed because she was the tail-end Charlie. They weren't all coming for her specifically but were rather chasing down everyone who escaped from the room. Ok, here's a theory for everyone, this accounts for lambert being trans. The alien mistook lambert as female and wanted to rape or breed with her but found out she's trans and the alien killed her the most viciously and most painful way as punishment for not being a true female, meaning no womb. The idea the alien is a metaphor for a serial rapist killer or maybe a true female gives better warriors or breeds a certain type or maybe since the alien came from a male host, it wanted to rape a female. Just my 2 cents.

Onboard systems would have noted an airbreach and recorded it. Why didn't any of the clean up crew, find the Face hugger's dead husk? Ripley would have definitely noticed a facehugger's dead corpse in her stasis chamber. Flaw after flaw in the writing, makes it difficult to follow after "Alien's", if one pays attention.

There was a deleted bit, from the scene when Ripley finds Dallas and Brett, in which Dallas tells Ripley that the creature brought Lambert into that room, and ate her. So I figured this is why Lambert has the word "lamb" in her name, and that this element of the story might have been present in the original screanplay, as I've heard Dan O'Bannon say that the characters' names are one of few things that were not changed when the movie was made. But, Ridley Scott's suggestion of violation seems far more interesting. Also, the original screanplay depicted an all male crew. The producers came up with the idea to take any 2 of these characters, and make them female. It looks like Ridley Scott managed to be creative in his compliance with that.

      Anatoly Cherdenko
Well, Anatoly, the best I can do is provide a purely hypothetical answer. As I just said, by no means am I saying it's the gospel logical scientific truth. Here goes:
Perhaps xenomorphs, over time, had evolved into a race of beings who, although sex as humans know it is not necessary for procreation, is none the less a part of their psyche and physiology when they reach adulthood, or, if you prefer, become full-grown. We mustn't expect extraterrestrial life to adhere to the same biological facts that apply to life on Earth. To tell the truth, I find the idea of a race of beings for whom sex is purely a matter of primal desire and not at all necessary for reproduction to be frighteningly intruiging.

    • @paulchristman2456
      @paulchristman2456 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Anatoly Cherdenko
      I thought I'd elaborate a bit more.
Maybe at the time of the Nostromo encounter, the Xenomorphs were at a point in their evolution where they were moving TOWARDS sexual reproduction and away from the egg/facehugger method. Indeed, perhaps at some point in the future, gestation would take place within the body and culminate in birth, as, of course, is the case with humans.
Again, not a sermon, just a thought.

    • @TStyx

I didn't realise until I bought a plastic model kit of the alien xenomorph that its head is very phallic in shape. I saw the film in '79 and we never get a very clear few of it. I was unfamiliar with the art of H. R. Giger at the time or how sexualized it could be. It seems fitting that the creature being "born" from a man might incorporate into its own new physiology some of its host's characteristics. Since we are given no information about the alien we don't even know what its real looks like and might alter itself to adapt to each new environment. This scene with Lambert still disturbs me. I think it was wise that it is never revealed what actually happened to her. To see it in any graphic way would have been sleazy but to leave it to our imagination conjures up some horrific fates. I do believe that it essentially raped her and her bare legs dangling hints at this. I believe it was in an interview in Starlog magazine she stated that the theories of this were true. The article never goes into any greater detail how her death was causing such a problem while they were trying to film it. As in the case with Jaws were we seldom see the shark it is sometimes better to leave things ambiguous.

I always felt there was a sexual angle to this film that (mostly) got left in the editing room, probably because the makers of the film guessed (rightly) that such an angle to 1979 film audiences just might be one step too far. I mean...if H.R. Giger were making the entire film, instead of just being the designer/creator of the alien, they would have TOTALLY explored that.
I think even more evidence of this can be surmised when you think about the behavior of the alien in the escape vessel near the end of Alien...it doesn't immediately pounce on Ripley when she is at her most vunerable...it almost seems relaxed, like a predator almost toying with it's prey (or mate, I guess), just biding it's time. Again...the fact they included this scene, with no subtext or explanation, just letting the viewer ponder what or why certain characters do what they do...is just more evidence of how great the original Alien film is, after 45 years even!

sounds like it was looking to score but found out it was dealing with a transformer or more specifically, a decepticon.

I think of the xenomorph in the first alien as an explorer. It is learning, exploring the ship, and exploring the people on the ship. She was a new form, and showed markedly different behaviour than its other two victims. Any exploration of her body i have always thought was of an investigatory nature.

I recall watching this movie in the theatre when it came out. As the alien approached Lambert closely, she seemed to know the alien wanted to put *something* in her, so she dropped her pants, and the tail is shown slowly going up her leg. The scene cuts to Lambert's face and she gasped, as tho she had been penetrated, then screams, as the xeno tail popped out of her upper back or chest (I forget). and the scene cuts away to the screams. I was always perplexed why the tail penetration scene was cut in later versions of the movie.

she got pulled up the duct by the alien, midway of the pull up it was a tug of a war between parker & alien causing her clothes to come off. parker died from trying get the alien off lambert . lambert froze in fear, the alien then bit her in the head. that was the end of both of them. but that crab walk was creepy lol.

Holy crap. They were trying to wrap this. They had enormous financial problems. Scott was getting brutalized for all the stuff he was letting his creatives get away with. His whole production was a bit, actually way more than a bit, out of control. There is not anymore there there. There is no over arching anything to this. It is a movie, produced by Fox, on the coat tails of SW, to capitalize on SW's box office situation. I love the movie but it is NO more than what you see. That is it.

When I was 11 and I first saw this movie I had a crush on Lambert. Not sure why. Got sad when she died even though I saw it coming.
All that being said I refuse to believe she was transgender.

Too much "fan fiction" in people's ideas on it violating her, the same people get off on the idea of they themselves being taken by a facehugger and dying as a result. If the xeno could sense the difference between male and females, gender reassignment wouldn't confuse it because it most likely could sense the differences on another level, despite the outward appearance. It would be able to tell if Lambert had the proper biology to reproduce. As a species, we tend to over-sexualize and anthropomorphize everything and often times it causes us to want something that isn't there.

Those are some big, odd looking feet swaying back and forth...because of the atmosphere, they look like they're darker skinned...
When I saw this scene, I'd always figured those were Parker's legs dangling there, as in, he'd been torn completely in half and Lambert/Lambert's body, dragged away like Dallas was.

I like when movies left things vague enough to make a case for something like this without it having to be definitively proven as some sort of creators intent or whatever. Just enough to make a decent case.
