i had a smile on my face the whole race! it was good to see this track raced on again even it it was just a virtual one! Thanks to again to Dale Jr and the the Crew that helped him to clean this up so Iracing could scan it Also to Iracing for scanning and the detail work they put into bringing this track back to circa 1987 and running the last Pro invitational on it Hey how come nobody mentioned that Dale Jr was running a Ralph Earnhardt throwback paint scheme?
@@TheRacingGenius88 no the concept to scan the facility was in the planning long before COVID and the networks impact on the season.....the networks took advantage to do a virtual race there for ratings and promote history of the sport.....
I would like for the iracing Pro invitational to become a regular program for the off season. Would love to see more retired drivers get involved along with many of the young drivers. Another thing that would be fun is if they could have the cars from the 70s, 80s, and 90s in the different races in the same season as the current cars, each race set with different period's cars. Would be interesting to see how the new drivers handle the older cars, and the older drivers like racing virtually. NASCAR could have simulator rigs setup for any of the drivers that would like to participate but don't have their own, or just to have all the competitors in an easily observed environment. I like the banter between Boyer and Gordon during the races they ran together.
We, the residents of Wilkes Co would love to put us back on the map again. We want you back!! Love seeing Holly Farms billboard still testing the time. If we can get it reopened don't take Holly Farms down.
What I loved most about the iRacing series was that the announcers treated it as though it was a normal day at the track. They took it seriously while also having fun with it. It wasn't treated as just a game.
As a Wilkes County native, I can honestly say that I haven't been this excited for our local culture since the hosts of Top Gear UK stopped by and drove around the track in the cars they chose while on their road trip to NYC in their Christmas special that year. My daddy said he skipped school once or twice to watch the time trials for the race at the track back in the 70s 😂

Jr. should lead the effort to actually bring this track back to Nascar. Nascar should also get rid of racing tracks twice a season & bring in tracks like pikes peak the oval not the road course, South Boston, Hickory, Nazareth, Mliwaukee Mile, Myrtle Beach, Gateway... Most are short tracks but short track racing is the funnest to watch in my opinion.

I like Nascar, I got into Nascar because I was given a EA Sports Nascar 99 ps1 copy when I was a kid. After that I didn´t really liked watching the sport on tv but Ive had so much fun watching this! Commentators are fun as hell and its very unique to have two commentators participate in the race while commentating. I´ll surely watch the real thing when it comes back, and all thanks to sim racing. cool. PD: Jeff and Clint are awesome!
The NASCAR track of Legends. North Wikesboro Speedway was definitely one of the best tracks ever. Now IRacing needs to a scan of the Rock (North Carolina Speedway) for next year’s Pro Invatational.
The Rock is in the game and has been for ages. The track is actually still operational in real life and held a truck race in 2012. I think NASCAR could feasibly return there in the cup series sometime, but if the Pro Invitational becomes a thing i'd love to see them race at shorter tracks and historic tracks like North Wilkesboro and The Rock.
I have never watched an irace before until I heard about this Racetrack coming back to life this sure is bringing back good Nascar racing memories at this awesome place
I've really enjoyed watching this Iracing hope that they remember that they can't run through other cars on pit road lol just a thought been fun watching thanks

Thanks for the video NASCAR. Brother. I’ve always liked that track and never thought the back bone of NASCAR would close. I guess it’s all about money. Thanks again sir.
Great to see Chase Rice singing the national anthem holding a beverage can and wearing a Dale Earnhardt shirt who finished second in the final race at North Wilkesboro on September 29, 1996.
Coming back two years later to watch this after seeing Denny Hamlin and Ross Chastain tangle for like the third time, it's funny to see Chastain wipe him out there at the end. LMAO
They would have to build grandstands all around this track if they were to reopen this track again because people would come to this track like they used to at Bristol. I would love to see it.
Safety is the only thing that doesn’t need to change back . Nascar has done an amazing job on safety. I love the new cars don’t like single lug wheels . This is stock car racing not Indy. Single racing is what we need one leader one winner at the end . Turning left and banging gears. That’s nascar.
Hey @Nascar, if you dont bring this track back, atleast try and have an iRacing off season series where we can still see some nascar action during the winter
The best races happened at this track. It truly was a shame that the owners took it away. Please bring it back. Oh and hey Larry Mac, I was there when Davey won in 1992 and got his autograph after the race when he stayed and signed his autograph until every person had left.
The gap on the backstretch, safety walls, and that pit entrance will all need changed to bring it up to safety specs. racing this place is an 87 tbird will be great.
Those are going to be awesome when they come out. They've had the old Lotus F1 car for ages, we've been in need of a vintage stock car for a while. Hopefully they just stick them here until the season ends and a proper schedule can be built.
Having a legend or Iroc series in the off season would be amazing Gordon, Dale Jr, Martin, Rusty Wallace, Dale Jarrett etc... In a iracing Moni off season championship would be badass
It would be amazing, but it's sadly untenable. First you have to go kiss Bruton's ring and get him to sell it to you. Then you're going to overpay him by almost 200%. Then you have to raze every structure (including the stands) and rebuild everything to code as well as modern NASCAR standards. The facility would probably need/want lights to make it viable for other events (Richmond, Bristol, Darlington, Martinsville all have them now). Land is inadequate for parking and camping, so you would need to acquire thousands of more acres close to the track. You would need a billionaire who has it to burn and loves NASCAR enough to do it out of passion for the sport.
It's an issue with the internet connectivity on the the driver's end. They mentioned it in the early stages of the race. It has happened in every single event.
If they really wanted this track back u could get Nascar & few of the team owners to all chip in & get it done. Get Hendrick, Gibbs, Childress etc & Nascar to all chip in like 300-400k. Get some of the richer drivers like Jr, Gordon, Jimmie & Tony Stewart who is also a cup team owner to chip in like 250k a piece & they could come up with the millions to repair this track.
Yeah, if everyone and each team put in a bit of money like you said, it would be a sacrifice worth making for the long run. North Wilkesboro is a unique short track that would provide great racing near the heart of NASCAR country
@@stoneracing1778 & u know how Jr. comes back races that one xfinity race each yr? I bet if they fixed this track we would probably see Jr. race this track in Xfinity.
It'll take a lot more than that. Not only would everything around the track need to be torn down and rebuilt, infrastructure around the track would need to be expanded, the plumbing would need to be dug up and replaced, and the track would need to be overhauled to meet modern safety standards. If it does happen it won't be anytime soon.
@@retromario96 Sensible reply. To turn a track like that, last raced in cup 96, into something that's feasible in 2020, well, you'll need to repave it, put in SAFER barriers, put in a tunnel, off-site helipad, infield care-centre, generally make the infield capable of carrying 36 haulers, pit crews, &c, add new grandstands, general amenities, ticket booths, souvenirs, the works. It's an investment in the billions. I wish it'd happen, but it's not likely.
This is how real nascar should be . That and single stage race and no single lug wheels . Real stock cars. Why can’t we have cup race here. This track and the nostalgia behind it would invigorate the momentum nascar had in Earnhardt Sr days.
Us nascar fans need to get a petition going to get this track back on the schedule. I know the real track needs alot of work but how cool would be to see this track in real life??
Crazy how we've gone from this to the literal All-Star Race at North Wilkesboro in under three years.

Gordon, Dale Jr, Martin, Rusty Wallace, Dale Jarrett etc... In a iracing Moni off season championship would be badass
It’s a shame it isn’t on the calendar, if you think it is possible to return, comment it, but I don’t see it happen sadly😢😢
Well here we are in 2022, and the cup series will be here in 2023
19:39 watch the 21 car in the right side of the screen
He just dissappear in 20:34 too
He just disappear LOL
It's an issue with the internet connectivity on the the driver's end. They mentioned it in the early stages of the race. It has happened in every single event.
@@AppalachianDroneFlights ya I know but its the funniest thing..
Could they program 1990s style Monte Carlos, Grand Prixs and Thunderbirds for this?
They weren't avaliable at that time.
@@ryanbearden9709 Yes, that would be absolutely amazing!
BRING IT BACK irl not just digitally
They have a lot of work to do to North Wilkesboro Speedway to bring it back if someone will invest in the track this track was done dirty
Awesome racetrack.
Surprisingly entertaining.
Thank you oll 🙏 amen to that
