What a great idea to sing al these beautiful songs this way. In the Netherlands we call this huiskamer concerts. Congratulations! Your voice is as beautiful as ever. (Too bad I don’t speak Greek.)

      Old roads
      that I loved
      And I hated
      endlessly
In the shadows Of the houses to walk
      Shooting nights are
      inevitable
      And the city is dead
      My insignificant
      presence
      I find in every corner
      Let me see you again
      sometime
      Lost specter of my lust
      I, too,
      forgetful and unable
      to walk
      Holding a flickering flame
      in my moist palms.
      And I was moving
      through the night
      Without knowing anyone
      And no one, no one
      knew me, knew me.

@@gelo7684 Thank you very much for the translation. Regretfully I do not understand what it means. Even in Dutch I would not understand it.
And also when I listen to intervieuw with Greek people (e.g. with Maria Farantouri) it is so very frustrating not to understand a word of it!

You are in luck! This song is very important to me (long story about a tragic love affair in Greece etc.) I was searching for it for years and finally found this version and couldn't believe my luck when I saw it had Dutch subtitles! It's not just a very good translation but it's in sync with the singer so you can follow it line by line! Dutch is only my 4th language and my Greek isn't very good but this translation really helped me. Later I found out that a Finnish artist, Arja Saijonmaa had recorded it in Swedish which made the meaning even deeper. I ended up doing a version of it myself on stage...
Hope this helps! Groeten uit Finland, fijne zomer!

P.S. In this version they included the ouverture from the film "Serpico" where the song is used. The singing starts at 2:05.

Υποκλινόμαστε! Αν η Αμερική είχε την Joan Baez, εμείς είχαμε αυτή τη μεγάλη κυρία!

As much as I love the performance and voice of Maria Farandouri, I get the impression that Greek people want to keep their music for themselves. There are no translations of the text and of the reactions. All other languages are translated on you tube even difficult ones such as chinees etc. Nevertheless I keep listening to her music!
