Teachers saved my destiny, made me believe I was smart enough to go to university and I did against all odds.Bless and encourage each child or young one that crosses your path💕
I'm sorry, i will be blunt, The black community has given me so much more than just music, and whatever anyone else says "they got" I got a universe of knowledge from these folks, and some will never truly grasp the impact and inspiration they have been to me, and in humanity! They taught me so much about what it means to be a human, and ill forever be grateful to them. 🙏 They did that for me, and even more for humanity, so i wanted to give yall the flowers you always deserve!!! 💐 Keep shining please! I genuinely mean that 🙏
They (and their school) remind me of the atmosphere in the book "Hidden Figures". I keep rereading it because it calms me. Excellence without blustering.
As someone born with Cerebral Palsy, I was main streamed into normal schools in the late 70s/80s, from K to 12, grew up with normal kids, was challenged by normal standards, and knew nothing of compromise. Family and Friends, all established high expectations, and little time was spent discussing anything but achievement. It was hard, but not mean, its was not always fun, but it was done with patience and love. Kids with challenges need goals, need to be challenged, and once they develop a since of achievement, it becomes their reality. I learned to walk 3 separate times, after 2 significant surgeries. Even made the senior soccer varsity team. Now approaching 60 years of age, I can only imagine what my life would have been like, if I was not challenged, and encouraged and held to a higher standard than even so called normal kids. Who has the greater journey or distance? Someone that can walk, then learns to run? Or someone that learns to walk multiple times, learns to run multiple times. The point being, that some of us have a longer road to travel from day one than others, but if you never take that first step on the road, you have already failed.
As an 18-year old, I find your comment very interesting. This is because I have always thought, and indeed in my country the common consensus is, that those with special needs need special standards - in essentially all regards generally lower ones. But, the point you raise about having them treated as normal, just with patience and love, is a quite reasonable one, and it challenges those previous beliefs I have held. Hence, I am still thinking about it. I will remember this comment. Thank you, and have a good rest of your day.
These young ladies are to be celebrated! The perception that a particular ethnicity is better or worse at academia is ludicrous! God bless this school and the students.
Excellent inspirational upload 👍 👏 . Good luck to the smart students in their future career journey. Jacob being blind and pushing himself is true testament to belief and perseverance. Highly inspirational.
so it was a... "try to team up somehow" and "solve these problems in some genuinely constructive fashion" because i believe in you 60 minutes ! to meet those challenges
@Funny... Old white lady crying too. These kids are amazing. This school for black girls in New Orleans encouraging pride and excellence should have one in every city, at least one. The school of magic in S. Africa integrating kids no matter color or income and providing scholarships, transportation and meals is truly transformative. I think the tuition was $350 a year which is mostly covered by donations is amazing. They are paying teachers and providing all the assistance they can for a very low cost. The confidence and social skills the kids are learning is so important, and for the kids from very dangerous and impoverished areas, the experience of getting out and having exposure to a safe and fun learning experience is so important. I grew up in the 70s and there were many kids all around America who never saw outside of their relatively small neighborhoods. It's hard to believe you can succeed in life if you never see those who have gotten out and succeeded such as mentors or programs that actually show kids a different life that they can aim for and hopefully achieve. America is on a path to government providing less for kids, for everyone really except those who already have more than they could ever need. Since Reagan, I've watched most of the good programs we had to provide assistance to low income families trying to get on their feet have their funding cut or removed. Stagnating wages and predatory lending has made it very difficult for young people to start out, so we need more programs like these instead of less. Anyway, I live in Vienna, Austria right now because health insurance is basically free for everyone and I parties as a senior to come back to the US.

@NANC... I'm sorry for whatever happened to you, but I'm not sure what it is related to on this video about children excelling. There's something missing in your comment to tell us what you mean, but I can tell that it was traumatizing for you and you already had a difficult path to walk, so I'm very sorry you had some obviously terrible experiences. It does sound though that despite whatever happened, you excelled and were an important contributing member of society. I hope you are enjoying this holiday season. Happy New Year 🕊🎄⛄🍀🕊 🎉💐🎉
The kids faces with the magic is so beautiful

Lulo has the best mom
Yes, she was wonderful. I hope his little sister also has the opportunity to come out of her shell. Mom mentioned that she was very shy too.
No makeup no eyelashes no fake nails …
Of course these young women are awesome. Why wouldn’t they be?
