The new Kia Cadenza arrives in a segment increasingly ignored by car shoppers: full-size sedans. And it’s a very capable car, offering plenty of room inside, particularly in the back, a decent amount of power from its V6 engine, and a strong infotainment system with support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
But while the Cadenza has no remarkable flaws that demand criticism, it also doesn’t provide a distinctive or memorable driving experience, leaving a bland aftertaste that will not help this relatively new car make a strong or lasting impression. The Cadenza’s priced in the same range as the Buick LaCrosse, Chrysler 300, and Toyota Avalon, and Kia’s warranty is the best in the business. yeah cadenza is about 15k cheaper than the choices that compare in other brands.
This is a great car! My grandfather has one and it is amazing. I have no idea what you are talking about with the seats, I have driven around in a Cadenza just like that and it is super comfortable. And all 3 safety systems that you said "had flaws" I have never had a problem with. You clearly don't know what you are talking about. Way to go Kia!

The rear seats do have heating and rear charging ports for both US and Canada 2017 Cadenza. Just your tester didn't have them.
this car it's a game over for the European car makers no need to pay 100.000 euro for their cars. Let's hope we see it in Greece. NICE REVIEW
They do in fact have USB charging ports, along with a 115v outlet in the rear cabin. Apparently when they let reviewers test these cars they were without those ports.
I drove one on Friday and checked that out to make sure. This was in the SXL limited version with all the amenities.
Also, who wants and Impala or Taurus?
@ourworlds atwar I drove both the Cadenza and Lacrosse and the Lacrosse easily wins in this category. The interior and dash on the Lacrosse is also better and more fluid...the Kia has nice exterior styling.
@ourworlds atwar You sure about that? Im a pretty big guy and I think the Lacrosse has more leg room...the Cadenza is more angular and straight lines while the Lacrosse is more rounded. That's completely subjective and taste. I honestly think the Lacrosse interior is way better but I like the Cadenza's exterior styling...they really are neck and neck...but one thing I noticed, the Lacrosse has remote start standard while the Kia doesn't...I experience all 4 seasons and remote start is a big plus.
@ourworlds atwar The Buick's screen is bigger...and the center of the gauge display is also a scren that can be customized...I like both cars and definitely like the Kia's exterior styling is better. The front end especially. Buick has a upgraded front grille as an option for 2019 but it's part of a package. They really are neck and neck overall. I don't particularly care for engine noise and the Kia seems to have more road noise that seeps in. The Buick is extremely quiet until you mash the gas pedal...it's a hard decision.
Tough reviewer but I felt you were honest with the viewer. Looking at one with low miles in 2022 and I see good value.
Chris you mention how the safety tech didn't work or was an irritation. What manufacturer in you opinion has the best safety tech that always work?
I have used all 3 of the safety technologies he mentioned and I have not experienced problems. Only thing that bugs me is the lane departure alert noise and it is a bit over sensitive. This guy really doesnt know what he is talking about.
Great Review Chris. I like this new Cadenza's styling much more than the first gen. I would pick this car over the Optima because it has an n/a V6 and I don't see these all over the DC Metro area like I do the Optima.

They are not common. Since my grandfather bought his early 2018, I have not seen any other ones since then.
I thought the backseat armrest included charging outlets. In any case, this is an honest and solid review as always.
They are on the console. His tester was an early production model the first year of that generation so it did not have it.
They should make a SUV or crossover version of this 1 I might buy 1
That's basically the Sorento because the Sorento had the same engine from 2016-2020
Why do test cars look better sometimes then the dealership cars
Little bit am disappointed on this car is, its not coming with AWD in any of the versions. even am waiting to buy any Kia luxury sedan with AWD for more than a year... finally I landed in Chrysler 300

Seat comfort after three hours is bad? then I wouldnt get this car
viyau i think thats subkective tho. Kind of like beds. Some ppl like soft vs firm. So id test drive it personally :)

If you're reviewing a sedan then tell us about sedan we don't need you to go and shit on the idea of sedans.

people with families do not buy a Cadenza. People who ride in the backseat do not buy a Cadenza, either.
Funny you say that. My grandfather bought a 2018 Cadenza. When I drive, he sits in the back. When someone else drives, I sometimes sit in the back. No complaints about head or leg room, and the seats are very comfy.

@mucdoc We bought the 2020 kia optima instead. I don't know for some reason when test driving we loved the feel of the optima. It's preference I believe.
