Is that bottle made of any special plastic?? I didn't know that they would shrink as in my experience they just shrivel up in random contortions. Good to know for many projects as shrink tubing that size is quite expensive.

No, a simple bottle of Mountain Dew 0.5. Why is Mountain Dew 0.5? Because I like the color of the workpiece, not more. The edges shrink, and then I cut them off. Welding rods can be replaced with spokes, smooth wire, and polished wooden sticks. A can of Coca-Cola can be replaced with something else dense. I like the way with a can of Coca-Cola better.

Been building templates and transitions for over 30 years, from 1" pipe to 30 foot square to rounds, yes, I can do them faster than building your device.

The idea is understandable, but utopian. This template is for a specific diameter only. And what if you need others to do for everyone again? Or if you need to connect different diameters, do it personally for each case? Nonsense!

It may sound utopian, but if you have to make one tool for every single tube size, these tools will be still cheaper than a tube notcher. I know that tube notchers are easy and fast to work with, but they are expensive even if you have a lathe and a milling machine to make it. This tool is simple and cheap, and can be even cheaper if you use bicycle spokes instead of stripped welding rods. Not perfect, but still better to use it than cutting the tubes without it.
