How long does the hair need to be for a slicked back (minimum length)
Top front hair:how much inches?
Top back hair :(same)
Sides and back:(same)
I cut hair also! It depends how the texture is because everyone has different types of hair, I’ve seen a person slicked back with little as only 2 inches on top without any product!, if the hair combs back very easily with no product you could do 2 inches or more, if the hair is stubborn and needs product usually leave at least 4 or more inches on top to be safe! You should be able to use the same length all around the head until you start blending the sides and the back with whatever method you use weather it’s sheers or clippers, once you blend the sides and back of course the hair will get shorter depending how you blend it! Using different lengths is also a preference because some people like the hair short , medium and long length to slick back! You could pretty much slick back almost any length of hair depending how easily the hair combs back from the beginning before the cut! Hope I helped you out!

I can’t zero gap my clippers, so when I follow the fade tutorial do I position my clippers one level down? So half way open instead of 3/4 open???
Hello I also cut hair a bit, it should still work with the same lever positions that the instructor is using , the cut just might not be as clean or blended as the instructors cut! Any questions I can try to help you out !
