One of Tommy's best covers to date, really spectacular. He covered this song before, on his Swedish Hitz Goes Metal album, and I really loved this cover, but this one is so much better. It's not only better vocally, but also much more emotional (as this song should be). Also, his brand new gray Charvel is beautiful guitar Edit: Tommy's biggest musical idol is Gary Moore, he is the reason he started playing guitar at the age of 9. As for Sabaton, Joakim said recently in an interview that Tommy is the best singer in the band, but his voice is too different from Joakim's for him to sing for Sabaton (though I think that fans would love a duet with Joakim). They do appreciate his talents though, it was actually Tommy who adjusted latest song 1916 for Sabaton
Your reaction is so fun. I could almost se that your spine chilled too. The song, the guitar playing and Tommys arrangemang is really fantastic, yet in respect for ABBA.
Absolutely guys, I discovered Tommy through you and I'll be going all the way with his music now. I dare bet Amy's gonna approve. 😉 As for his singing with Sabaton, you do know that he's still the lead singer in his own band Majestica (formerly ReinXeed), a symphonic/power metal band, right? So, you could give them some attention on your channel and enjoy his vocal gymnastics there, as well. Speaking of men secretly being attracted to ABBA, did you know they're one of Ritchie Blackmore's favorite bands?! This is according to the guitar legend's former Rainbow and Deep Purple colleague Joe Lynn Turner. The revelation comes in an expansive new online interview with the singer in which he also talks about his work with Yngwie Malmsteen, offers to audition for Foreigner and Bad Company, and his belief that "98 percent" of rock's elder statesmen wear wigs. 😱🤣
Wow Tommy is the very greatest singer and musican i've ever hear and i love to watch and hear him every time cause he is the best of the best ! Greatings and love from germany ♥️♥️🥰♥️♥️🥰♥️♥️
Sue, you asked about Tommys favourite musicians. Since childhood Tommys musical inspiration has been Gary Moore. He doesn't aspire to be a new Gary Moore - there is only one - but to be as skillfull and good with the guitar. As a teenager Tommy discovered a band called Sabaton. He even started a Sabaton cover band with a good friend. Once he even met his idols and could pose for an photograph with them. That was a lucky day! Now I'm gonna throw in a curveball here! Tommy came clean and confessed something unexpected in an recent TH-cam-interview: he is listening to death metal band Cannibal Corpse! Their parade number is 'Hammer Smashed Face'. Maybe an upcoming friday cover?
So good to see you togheter in front of the computer again 😀 Tommy did such a good job on this one and your discussions are always so fun . Tommys is getting more stage time and is more involved in the creation of sabaton music as of late which is very nice to see. For influences .. agreeing with the other comments and add in that skidrows “18 and life” has been very important for Tommy . That song made him decide to be a singer (at 15) .. he has mentioned this in interview (I think) and it’s in the description of his cover of it. Edit: Gary Moore and his song “out in the fields” started it all for Tommy .. that song made him to want to be a musician at the age of 9 (also in the description of that cover 😆☀️)
Its a brave person who has a go at singing The Winner Takes it All. Tommy did a great job. It is also funny how people who were awkward about liking ABBA back in the day, were okay with saying they liked men in spandex and make-up, i.e. KISS. People who like music like ABBA and are Winnners for that.
Jokes a side, this is Tommy in one of the best covers ever❤ You guy's are awsome and i follow you😊 But Sue is my favorite because she is up 05:00 to watch Tommy❤
You know this song is about the divorce between Björn and Agnetha its a bit strange that Björn wrote the lyrics and Agnetha singing it. Tommy just killed it with his singing and guitarplaying with his mint green new guitar And you know also in Sweden it was not cool listen to Abba at first I remember when I as young kid saw them win the Eurovision in England and started digging them. Always fun listen to your fun and good reactions.
Strange as it may sound I found your channel because of abba. Was watching a Swedish u tuber do the new abba album, he knows tommy, so with combined artists that you both do u tube recommended your channels and here we are. The only 3 u tube channels I really like. Well to much info I’m sure. This is my last day before surgery so going to catch up on all your videos. Tommy did other abba too. Hope you both have a. Great day. Prayers🙏🙏🙏
Hey James, even though we don't know each other, but having seen you around both here and on Jeff's own channel, and having read in your comments that you're about to have surgery, I thought I'd let you know that I'll be praying for a good outcome for you. Hoping all goes well! 👍🍀🙏
Seafoam green sounds right. On his channel, there's a video of him "unboxing" several new guitars...I think this is one of them, but.1st time I've seen it in a video. He owns about 30 of them! Alot of Tommy's musical influences are 80s metal bands, but he also loves musical theater.
Well spotted Suesue. It was a new guitar. There is a Swedish singer whose songs that Tommy J has covered several times, who I think can qualify as a musical hero. Tommy Körberg, the original singer of Anthem in Chess. Nowadays Tommy K, who is 70+, is still singing a lot of original music written by Benny Andersson of ABBA fame. Here's a link to a newer song by these gentlemen th-cam.com/video/wTg807j8FP0/w-d-xo.html
Avd I must say one thing more, to me Tommy is the greastest rockartist nowadays and the best is that he takes me back to the great eighties with his superb covers. There is noone like Tommy he makes me feel better every time. And its great looking at you two just smiling listening to him.
I got an email notification from YT stating that you had replied to my comment here, and it was included, so, I was able to read it, but, for some reason it doesn't show on the page itself. Anyhow, yeah, ABBA's great, and so are Ritchie Blackmore, Rainbow, Deep Purple, and Dio of course. As for Gates Of Babylon, which I think is a masterful piece of music, I read somewhere that this song, like the rest of the Long Live Rock 'N' Roll album, was recorded at the famous Château d'Hérouville where the composer Chopin had once lived. During the actual recording of Gates Of Babylon, the band held a seance, something very much in character for the enigmatic Mr. Blackmore.
@@musicfromtheheart100 Yep read that too, and yes he is very enigmatic but not too friendly, when they played in my hometown in Sweden 1980 I got to meet all the members except Ritchie who just was in the loge and not leave it but Roger Glover was extreamly friendly and talked to us for like a half an hour.
@@KentLundberg-vb9hb Haha, I think I've heard a similar sentiment being spoken about him before, meaning Blackmore. Oh well, he may not be the nicest guy one can imagine, but I think his musical skills more than make up for that.
So I’m a Tommy’s Mommy Wannabes Tag-a-long? I don’t caaaaaare! Saw this in an article once that I was able to find again: Tommy's musical inspirations include, among others, Gary Moore, Angra, Stratovarius, Robby Valentine, Symphony X and Helloween. Keep being that controversial, incendiary rabble-rouser, SueSue!
I can follow your point, why tommy not sing in sabaton, but there is a risk the 2 voices would overtake it other, same reason as you dont put Elton John and Queen to sing together, but is easy to follow the idea, where it would work is song where you sings du'et. Like phantom of the opera, or split some parts of a song between 2 singers.
Sorry, not a patch on the original. This version totally loses the heartbreak emotion not only from the song but in the performance as well. You totally lose the essence of the song!
He is one of the best. Tommy J
Yes ! 💜

i crying when i here tommy singing that abba music thanks tommy
Bless you 💕
Your reaction is so fun.
I could almost se that your spine chilled too.

Isn't he amazing that Swedish man? He's...GREAT!
Sweden rules!!

Tommy takes a song that is a 10 out of 10 and raises it to a 11 out of 10.
I enjoy watching you 2. 😊❤ Hugs from Sweden.
Hallo!!
If Annefrid, Björn, Benny and Agneta listen to this cover they will absolutely give Tommy their approval.
Great reaction
Agreed

This is so amazing again, i needed to say this again, its 1 of his best ever❤❤❤
Yes - it’s extra special 💜

Swedish hitz goes metal throwback
Imagine if tommy went to american idol, you could fucking bring Taylor swift rihanna, etc he world beat them all.
I mean Agneta sing it as a losing. Tommy is more aggressive. In the Lyrics .
I love Tommy's music, covers and all. But I do think Joakim is the perfect fit for Sabaton's music.

What Stratovarios, a friend of mine Jens Johansson plays keyboard with them.and his brother Anders play drums in Hammerfall , cool.
An another tip is, Hey van Waylon, Candy Dulfer an the New Amsterdam Ochestra , amazing.

This is a awsome cover and you need to listen to your wife more😂
Thank you! I’ll tell him that!💜😂
If you liked Anouk, try the following : one of her best songs :Anouk Nobodys Wife Live Gelredome 2008
Takes a Swede❤
I agree! Love the Swedes!
His first and foremost influencer is Gary Moore
swedish music school as its best
To be honest, I prefer the original, where the lyrics, music and singing are more in harmony. Shoutly singing is not always suitable for a song
