  • This is a recording of a Bite of Science that was held on March 28, 2019, hosted by CEE's Teacher Enrichment Program. This features Srini Matam, Toyota Motor Manufacturing West Virginia.
The Center for Excellence in Education (CEE) launched the Teacher Enrichment Program (TEP) in 2012 to assure a future talented and diverse U.S. workforce in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
TEP provides opportunities for middle and high school rural and urban teachers to connect with experts from industry and academia to explore cutting-edge research and make meaningful professional links with direct benefits for their students. TEP is comprised of three components:
    • Bite of Science - An afterschool workshop brings together middle and high school STEM teachers with scientists and engineers from industry, academia, and government. Teachers learn about cutting-edge research and innovation, explore to connect the research to the classroom, and discover ways to inspire and guide their students toward academic opportunities and STEM careers.
    • Lab Bench - An interactive online resource provides access to Bite of Science and Teacher Roundtable presentations and videos, resources and low-cost activities related to Bite of Science topics, industry and teacher-contributed resources, and other helpful materials for the middle and high school STEM classroom.
    • Public/Private Partnerships - Connects companies, academic institutions, government agencies, and community groups with undeserved teachers. TEP increases engagement with local schools by providing classroom speakers, mentorships, field trips, and additional free resources for teachers and their students.
The Center for Excellence in Education (CEE), a nonprofit 501(c)(3) charitable organization, was founded in 1983 by the late Admiral H.G. Rickover and Joann P. DiGennaro, President of the Center. The Center’s mission is to nurture high school and university scholars to careers of excellence and leadership in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), and to encourage collaboration between and among scientific and technological leaders in the global community. CEE sponsors the Research Science Institute (RSI), USA Biolympiad (USABO), Teacher Enrichment Program (TEP), and STEM Lyceums. All CEE programs are offered cost-free to students and teachers, thereby leveling the playing field for economically disadvantaged students. The Center works closely with educational institutions, private foundations, corporations, government agencies, and individuals. For more information, visit www.cee.org
