Yay! Bring on the the cast on party! I will cast on tomorrow as I am stuck in at the moment and I want to start fresh! Happy Christmas, Ange and the entire Yarn and Yarns community!
Three Christmas Eve cast ons for me. A third Musselburgh hat, the pressed flower sweater (out of handspun) and a Hexie housecoat (also out of handspun). Happy Christmas!
Yay, we definitely know it's Christmas when the 12 cast on's extravaganza begins 🎉. As we speak, I'm knitting the toe on the second sock for Andy. In the next hour, they'll be wrapped and under the tree. Talk about last minute! My first cast on is going to be the clementine socks.... plot twist. It's crochet! First time attempting a crochet sock. Xx💕🌈
I'm so excited to join you for the 12 cast ons 2025 MAL! I just found you a few days ago thanks to Kirsty of the Kirsty Knits n Sews podcast and really enjoyed your 12 cast on 2024 videos. I've got my projects planned and have been starting to collect the yarns for them. I'm waiting for the new year and then will start my cast ons. Merry Christmas!
A few hours ago, I cast on a pair of scrappy socks - this will be my first time participating, and at the moment, I am not quite sure how many projects I will manage, but I want to give it a go! Enjoy the holidays, Ange. Jinny
Hello! Merry Christmas to you and your family! It's 12 cast ons time again (that went quickly! I finished 11 and a bit from last years). I'm watching and swatching! I've cast on a cabled hat (that was meant to be a gift but ran out of time before Christmas), and today am going to swatch for a jumper that will be part of the make along and start a pair of thick socks. Thank you for the lovely video! Can't wait to see all of your, and the community's, projects.
Happy Christmas Ange, James and Newt. All the very best for 2025! I’m afraid 12 cast ons would completely overwhelm me but I am in awe of everyone who does it and goes on to complete them! However , I happily cast on a pair of socks on Christmas Eve and plan to cast on a colourwork project on New Years Eve! I think the badge idea is genius for the braver crafters in our community! Take care x
I cast on and cast off my first project for the 2025 MAL! I have several stranded colorwork projects in my queue for this make-a-long so I wanted to practice on something small since I’ve never done it before. I made the Bougainvillea Coffee Cup Cozy, it was a fun and quick knit, figuring out how to handle holding two strands was fiddly but I love the result!
I definitely won't manage to do all 12 cast ons, but I MIGHT be able to do a few! (and double dip with the scrap Makealong!) I wish you the most wonderful Christmas and lots and lots of fun with your 12 cast ons! ♥
Merry Christmas. I am again traveling till end of January and 12 cast ons are not practical for backpacking. But I am finishing up a sweater right now and will cast something on soon. Also finished some scrappy christmas gifts that don't fit in the make along now. Haha. Have some nice days
Every year I say um maybe...or maybe not. So I sorted out my WIPs. only 8. So I then found a few things I want to start. 5 or 6. My goal this year is to use what I have. Ok I say that every year. This is a good way to get that started x
I've been loving following you for all the inspiration! I'm sure I will cast on way more than 12 things this year but can't do it in consecutive days but am going to cast on new items, crochet, and finish up some wips that are in desperate need of finishing. Today I picked up a wip as my first project. It's the Marlow throw from premier.
Currently binding off my last 2024 project so I can start my 12ish cast ons! Basically I'm going to cast on one a day till I run out of appropriate needles, even though I have 12 projects planned.
Merry Christmas! I'm going to try for the full 12 this year. I cast on a vanilla pair of socks on the 24th and started a fractal spin with a braid received for Christmas on the 25th. I have a couple more knit projects already planned and a couple of weaving projects that will hopefully be warped by the new year. After that, I'm sure I'll find a few more projects to start.
Glad I found your video series. Happy Christmas! Have cast on an easy one for my first ever 12 cast ons. Some extra soles for my favourite slippers that have developed a hole. Cozy Toesies by Lisa Chemery.
Merry Christmas Ange to you James and Newt. I hope you get a relaxed crafty one. I am joining in with the 12 cast ons. But i know i won’t make it to 12 😂 but i will enjoy watching your 12 😊xxx
Happy ho ho Ange :) I've cast on a few things - I'm trying to get through some of my stash so I've been thinking of my plans for a few weeks! I've cast on some Magic Toadstool socks (I've hard the yarn for about a year and a half lol) a Traveler Shawl with some handspun, the Ixchel Cowl in preparation for hopefully casting on the Ixchel sweater later this year. Oh, and I've also cast on a scrappy blanket! I'm planning on a Musselburgh and a sweater for my spouse, plus probably some others that I'm still thinking on
I was already going for the 12 but now I know there’s a souvenir my resolve is doubled! First cast on yesterday is a So Basic Sweater for my husband. It’s in Loop Fiber Studio yin yang yarn which is gorgeous but a pain to wind. Wish me luck, it’s a 4 ply man’s raglan jumper 🫣
Beautiful tree, first time taking part in the 12 cast ons. I did start the scrappy square blanket but wasn’t enjoying the process so started another blanket using Scheepjes metropolis yarn. Excited to see what everyone else will be making. I will share my cast ons on instagram and TH-cam shorts xxx
I can’t believe it’s time for 12 cast ons again! It was only a short time ago that it was 12 for 2024!! Where did the time go!! Happy Christmas & Happy New Year!!
I’m not sure if I will get to the full 12, but I’m certainly joining the cast on party! I’ve started a lengthwise garter scarf with my handspun today. Not sure if I’ll finish the cast on today or not (worked a half day and only a little downtime between that and heading out for a family gathering, I’m maybe 2/3 through casting on at this point).
I cast on a Gullane, but I'm going to do it in a more winter-y fiber. As a very slow crafter, I don't think all do all 12 cast ons, but I've had so many ideas recently I might try to end up with 12 WIPS rather than just the normal 2 to 3
It's so cute!!! I'm not sure I can do it 😬 it's so out of my comfort zone to have so many WIPs. Do you put away your bags (out of sight out of mind) until you're ready to trade one for another to work on?
Was debating on doing it again because I have way too much on the needles, but what’s another 12 projects? My first cast on, the Austin socks in Leap of Faith yarns, colorway We Three Kings.
So excited to be doing this again. I’m doing mine over 12 days and I’m also vlogging them on my channel. Thank you for your inspiration.
I started on Winter Solstice and I've cast on mitts, a scarf, a poncho and socks so far. Today, I am casting on a cozy sweater!

Cast on #1 on the needles - simple top down socks with West Yorkshire Spinners in Gingerbread 🎉
I cast on Anthology Throw with my Cuddlebums advent as my Christmas Eve cast on!
It’s also my favorite time with the cast Ons.

I cast on the Innsbruck Scarf today using my 2023 Advent Kit from Berry Fun Yarns.
Definitely joining in this year Ange ❤ I’m going to do a mix of new cast ons and some wips

Just came across your channel as I'm casting on the Oslo Sweater by Petite Knit. Count me in. 😊

Merry Christmas to you and yours. I've made my list of twelve that I'll be casting on. ❤

Meant to say - I’ve cast on the Mystical Lanterns blanket for day 1 by Janie Crow. Day 2 is a Stylecraft Chunky waistcoat.
First cast on is a pair of Vanilla Socks.
This year im aiming for 12 cast offs! Then next year i can do the 12 cast ons😂
