You should probably mention to beginners the solder to use for this project. I bought a soldering iron that came included with cheap solder on amazon, and omg did it making this project irritating. Once I bought a solder with a "Rosin" core. This project became so much easier to work with. Other than that, very helpful tutorial! Thank you!
Dude, this vid would've came in clutch a week ago when my mates and I were working on an ECU. We had no clue how the soldersucker worked. Great quality vid. Keep em comin'
Hey! There’s a really detailed section on the documentation page for SlimeVR (docs.slimevr.dev) where you can select which parts you use and it will give you a very clear easy to read schematic that’s easy to understand. Hope this helps! You’re also very welcome in the Discord server where there are thousands of people ready to help.
I have a question! As an engineer, i've always used Dupont wires for projects related to my career, but now that I'm planning on making some new trackers for my girlfriend, I'm wondering if that'd be appropriate (of course cut and without the pin lol). She used a sort of sturdier tin-coated copper wiring that's much chunkier, some AWG lower than 28 and came in rolls, and in this vid you used something that seems pretty similar, so now I'm concerned if, for whatever reason, regular duponts that you'd find anywhere can't handle the amperage or some other reason like that? In any case, great video!!! as a beginner i would've loved to be taught like this, super helpful !!!
The trackers sold on amazon have mixed reviews, they’re still just DIY trackers made by an individual. Using MPU IMU’s. Some people said they’re good, others had issues with them. So buy at your own risk so to speak.

Yeah that's fair!
Didn't really mention it but it should be in the docs sooner rather than later.

Your a absolute life saver and made this look so simple and easy.
Thank you so much!
awesome you guys refreshed the concept of soldering for those new into VR and home made projects.. will be following this project
Thanks for this video :)
Useful tips.
I just ordered all the components and some soldering tools.
Where can I find the components that slime used for.their trackers so I can also make my own.
How did it go?
Thank you Smeltie! Great work!
you can also use the heat of the soldering iron to shrink the tubing!
I was wondering if there's a detailed wiring guide I'm new to this and wanna make it

Great vid! Super informative and entertaining.
i never thought i would have to factor in me oxidizing the tip
What about flux and soldering paste
Where is the turnigy branded heat shrink?
Don't have any... big sad
Quick question: Sorry if this sounds dumb, but how do I solder the wires that split into 2 different directions? Thanks!
I usually twist the 2 wires together and then do the same step as the wire prep.
Only this time the 2 wire ends are intertwined.
omg I could of used this a few days ago 😭
What is the "third hand" thingy called?
They are literally called third hand/helping hands/soldering helper on store pages :)
@@smeltie oh I should've figure lol, thank you
could i follow this, but use a BMI160 instead?
These are just general soldering techniques, they are completely component independent.
@@smeltie alrighty thanks!
I have NO idea what kind of wire to use for this project can someone help?
the docs have a nice component list including wire gauges
I love you
toooo hard for me ... i think i will just get it from amz
