conrail modeler67890. All I saw was a lot of weird looking flat cars being pulled by a Hudson. Real American Flyer trains that are in the Gilbert catalogs are rarely run on club layouts at shows nowadays.
You have to remember that model train manufacturers will either build a very popular locomotive or one that was bought by a ton of railroads with a huge production number. There was only 908 EMD GP-30 locomotives built in real life. The reason why production numbers were so low is that the real GP-30 suffered from big electrical issues. Manufacturers also go after market demand so many people like the 12 wheel locomotives or Dash 8/9 locomotives. Also people tend to buy what they see running on the rails. You can still find GP9, SD9, SD40, SD45 etc and other older units still running. But because the GP30 had issues it is very rare to see on still in service. In the end it's about what the manufacturer thinks will sell. Hope this helps
@@Dakman That's too bad. The locomotive has a classic stand alone look that can really add personality to a railroad. Alas, it's relegated to the fate of the B BL-2. By the way, that is a really nice carnival layout. I wish Lionel/F would do something along those lines. Due to ethics, I have a problem with circus'.
I like the docksider and cars alot. Scenery is pretty good too.
I saw them at the Westminster show just before Thanksgiving. They always have it working.
2:14 It uncoupled! It reached it’s final destination, though!
Sometimes things do happen during a train show.
