true story... I passed SY0-601 Security+ test yesterday. your Practice Questions videos were last thing I watched before taking test. I reached Question 60 of the test and my brain was feeling burned out at that point. then I remembered your advice to pick out key words from question. that REALLY helped to simplify the question and finish test. most importantly to pass the test! so thanks a lot, I totally appreciate it.
Question 10: If you disconnect the cable immediately, then how do you “ensure ongoing network security” without running a network scan first like answer C in order to see what the plug was trying to do?
yeah, it's a weak question because even if you unplug it they clearly had access to that room. They'll just do it again, the real answer should be to better fortify the server room but that answer doesn't resolve the immediate issue. Unplugging it is the only thing you can do but that doesn't tackle the "ensure ongoing network security"
some of these are definitely on the more difficult side I would say compared to what you will see on the actual test. I was worried too, but I took it not too long ago and passed. It's not that bad.
Passed my Comptia Security + today! Thanks James! Your videos helped me alot because i have learned how to think like you before answer the question lol. Thanks for this channel
Absolutely HATE these TOP priority questions from COMPTIA. Really feels like the answers are extremely minor in importance and not based on realistic industry practice
They aren't sponsored by CompTIA. Even says it at the start of the video. CompTIA's answers tend to fit better (even if not the most practical in real world scenarios).
Thanks again. These are all helpful. I appreciate the tip about CompTia leaning towards answers that affect business operations the least. I tend to get questions like this wrong because I am usually considering a combination of what would be fastest and most effective. I may need to change my mindset to fastest and least disruptive. Please keep these videos coming.
I'm glad you find these useful. I got confirmation of 1 more for Security+ slide, and then I'll do either CySA+ or Pentest+. But those will be a little different since I'll actually be writing those. Yeah, unless indicated specifically in the scenario/question, it's most likely going to be the answer that makes sense given the scenario/question but also has the least impact on business operations. That's a theme that CompTIA carries out in all of the exams I've passed including A+, Network+, Security+, CySA+, and Pentest+
Thanks again James! I think I was off around 4-5 wrong out of the 20 questions. Your videos are helping me how to think during the test as well as practice exams. Keep em coming!
I'm a bit iffy on Q3, I believe the answer should've been D and not C, as stuffing means they have reused the same password for various services for one person and spraying is when attackers use common passwords on multiple accounts - in the scenario it says successful login attempts using employee usernames plural - correct me if I'm wrong but I disagree that C is the correct answer.
This method of reviewing the questions and talking through the thought process of how to analyze the questions is GREAT! It really has help me out a lot, I take my SEC + exam in about a month. Thank you for this.
Hey man. I don't usually leave comments on TH-cam videos but I failed this test the first time. On my second go round i discovered your videos and I can surely say you are a huge reason why i passed the second time because I learned to think like you! So thanks again for helping me obtain this life changing certification 🙏🏾 keep doing what you're doing.
For question 12, it says the company is “struggling to keep pace with new technologies and regulations.” If that’s the case, shouldn’t B be the right answer since acquiring the latest security tools and technologies will help combat that? It’s literally responding to the problem of the question lol.
Great vid! I am planning to do the sec+ exam by the end of the month, so anyone we passed recently after watching these vids pls comment here with tips and overall experience.
Hi James, I am preparing for the CompTia Sec plus 601, your questions are absolutely amazing and I have been following you along from week two now and am only missing one or two of your questions. Thanks for your good work!
That’s awesome! Something I want to point out that’s a little different is on the real exam it will be heavy with acronyms. I try to catch this when reading them, but an example would be it will say “SIEM” instead of “security information and event manager”. That tends to trip people up, so make sure you’re caught up on the acronyms. Also make sure to use other resources as well! You got this, can’t wait to hear when you pass
I look up the definition to every multiple choice answer, even if I know the answer. You have activated my brain. Books, Websites informational youtube vids haven't taught me as much as these exam vids have.
Really appreciate you taking your time to go over these practice questions. It is super helpful for beginners to begin to understand security concepts while following along with your answer selection. It really helps one think back on the choices they make independently when hearing your insight on why you decide to choose, or not choose, specific answers. Keep it up, man!
I passed 💃💃 the questions here helped a lot. Applied your method of eliminating what the answer would definitely not be and then thinking about the answer in relation to the question while taking notes of keywords
The answer to question 4 is kind of weird. The question states that the application is "critical". I don't see how C wasn't already implemented. IMO, the answer should be "A". Who is writing these questions and sending them to you?
Thank you for making this video. I have issue with question 20. By physically destroying the hard drive will not solve the issue of disposing the server. Two major concerns are securely disposing the server and protecting the data. I think, D is more appropriate. Thank you all the same for all your videos. I'm enjoying watching them.
thanks for the study sessions, this really helps break down the analysis and strategies and is also a more proactive way to study as I follow along. I can't wait to do CySA next
Hey James for question 16, the scenario didnt mention anything about sensitive data or financial information etc. Even the answer "B" didnt mention anything about a crash. So why would it still be "B"?
Hey James, question 7 of this exam is quite similar to the question 14 of week 2's exam in terms of standardizing security controls/ policies. Can I know why we can standardize for question 7 but not for question 14 as every country has their own laws? Unless question 7 is just about one country, then maybe its the context of the question. Would love if you could clarify.
On question 2, there's nothing to indicate that this is a series of multiple infected computers i.e. a botnet. The question should be phrased multiple workstations, not a single user's workstation, if its going to be a botnet, as opposed to a zombie or a single bot.
Out of 3 videos I got maybe 10 correct....this is after just finishing the comptia course, taking Messors tests. Your good James, after 3 videos you only missed 1....lol
Well my background is most likely different, I passed 2 years ago with a very high score and have been helping friends and students in my old college ever since. So I've gone over the objectives numerous times haha. I've gotten feedback that these questions are harder than Dion and Messer, so take that as you will!
Thank you for these videos. It seems that for 701 is more about policies and procedures and very little technical info as compared with the 601. Planning to write the 701 soon.
There is quite a bit of overlap when It comes to discussing vulnerabilities, types of attacks, attack vectors etc. CySA+ has additional types of questions such as looking at logs and understanding what's going on. I'll most likely focus on CySA+ after 1 more Security+

Was it generally easier or harder than the questions here? Im trying to figure out when I should take it.

@@Brandon-tz5pn pretty much similar. But the actually exam was a bit easier for me. Depends on level of preparation I'd say.

How I know that I am ready for the exam ?
Do you happen to know how much overlap there is between Security+ and CySA+?
There is quite a bit of overlap when It comes to discussing vulnerabilities, types of attacks, attack vectors etc. CySA+ has additional types of questions such as looking at logs and understanding what's going on. I'll most likely focus on CySA+ after 1 more Security+
You idea of thinking the question through is really a nice way to answer the question, but my fear is that there will be no time for deep thinking.
The key here is to spend no more than 1 minute per question. If you can't figure it out quickly, flag it and move on.
James, Thanks a lot for these Sec+ videos! It helps a lot I feel it. Could you add more acronyms based questions besides scenario based?
I'm glad it helps! Regarding acronyms, out of all my CompTIA exams other than the performance based questions all of them were scenario based

There's a good chance that i'll make some for Network+ in the future but next on my list is CySA+ and Pentest+

Yes this video covers objectives shared on both 601 and 701. Part 4 is exclusive to 701
