And the backup camera still pops up when out in reverse. Awesome. Definitely doing this. I don’t Understand why this feature is never stock with any camera. Take a look at the hitch real quick. So useful!

To be honest, it was pretty straight forward. Everything was color coded and plug and play practically.

Stupid question but would this work on a pre-face lifted GX? I know sometimes the software from beatSonic is only specific for 2014's and up.
The interface specifically calls out 2014-2021 GX460 navi without park assist only.
Bob great video. Question: have you ever come across a LDA that showed the lines and the "LDA" in red on the dashboard but didn't buzz you to let you know you are crossing the lines? Mine isn't buzzing but looks to be working.

Hi! I think this can me knocked out within 2 hours if you’ve taken apart the center console before. Its hard to gauge since there was a lot of stop and go for filming. I didn’t disconnect the battery because all of it was plug and play. None of the open wires were live wires. The red wires i was splicing were accessory wires and they had an in-line fuse.

whoa...good question. I would have to rewatch my older videos and follow the installation and where it might cross over to the carplay wiring.
Curious if this camera is an upgrade of the OEM , which as we know all aren’t that great .Would love to upgrade the rear
Yo Derek, I know exactly what you're talking about. The front cameras do perform way better than the oem rear. I get a pretty good fish eye wide angle 180 degree view. Only thing is i've been so used to my rear view camera and its parameters, i have to relearn the front view camera's point of view. They both differ giving you a complete sense of distance, at least for me.
Bob - Do you by chance know the part number for the 10mm bolts that hold in the CD player and head unit?

I have 2019 gx lux so it has a front camera but it’s a fish eye which I find useless. Do you think I can use the current wireing and just replace the camera for a normal view?
Scroll down on the link i just gave u and click on front camera plug. Look at the plug type. Then go camera shopping and match the plug type. The Beast Sonic ones i showcased are RCA types and won’t be a direct fit into a GX oem harness.

32:14 hello. My ‘17 GX does have a front camera already, how’re the video quality is poor and seems like the frames per second is really poor too. My wife’s Sienna has a better camera than the Lexus. Question: do you know if I can get the camera you suggested and simply plug it into the existing wiring for the stock Lexus camera?
That’s a great question. Unfortunately I don’t have an oem front callers system to test your theory. I may attempt to do the rear camera in the near future because that’s another issue people have brought up.
Did Beatsonic fix the issue where the front camera becomes disabled if the battery is disconnected, requiring you to pull the dash to get it to work again? That was a deal breaker for me.

I reached out to Beat-Sonic and they replied within 10 minutes. They responded with:
With the data that we have collected, we know that this issue is only affected by certain vehicles: 2014-2016 Lexus IS, 2014-2016 Lexus RC, 2013-2020 Lexus GS, 2014-2019 4 Runner, 2020-2022 Tacoma. We have not had any feedback from GX owners yet. Our current SKU still affects the mentioned vehicles. New module with the fix should be released at the end of the year.
So Artem, with that being said, GX owners have not seen this type of issue as of yet, me included.
Will this harness still work for a 2023 do you know? The removal of the head unit will be a little different but besides that aslong as the wiring is the same

i don't have access to a newer model to test on. I get a lot of questions to dabble with 2022 and up models but i don't have the resources now.
Any trick to better resolution on 2010 back up camera? Not sure if its the screen or the camera with bad resolution (or both)
Hey you! Soooo I’m okay with my reverse camera resolution but I’m also a fan of upgrades. I’m looking into aftermarket reverse cameras at the moment but here is a link to a washer i installed that helps a little.

yes i did see them. All over alibaba and ebay. I don't want to say they look cheezy so i'll just leave it at that. I prefer the scarlett tail lights u see on the newer sports trim GX's. Very clean and aggressive.

Yup, I'm definitely gonna do this as a trail cam and parking cam will be an awesome bonus! I think I'm going to try to aim it a bit more downward than in the video though.
Bob, one question. Which AWG butt connectors did you use since there are range of type for different wire thicknesses. Thanks
I used the red (18-22 gauge). Always good to have a complete kit of different gauge connectors at your disposal just in case.

Hey Bob, I am not sure if routine wires via the grommet this way is good for maintaining an OE-like water seal. Maybe creating a new hole is better, but I could be wrong.
Creating a new hole causes exposed metal and wire chafing. My wire lies up against painted metal and rubber. The rubber boot is not left loose after the install. It’s squeezed back into place and still creates a nice seal. Another option is to poke a hole in your rubber boot and slide your wire thru. Of course we’re also not talking about submerging your suv in a River either so this is mainly for normal driving.
@@GXBOB Yep, to clarify I was referring to poking a hole in the rubber, not metal. Learned the "poke the rubber" trick from my ex, to whom I now owe a lot of dough in child support.
On a side note, I used the rear door grommet/sleeve to run my dashcam wire through. That thing was tight.. had to ram in some metal wire to fish it through.

I have not been able to test out the carplay so that is something you might want to ask them directly on their site.

Two questions, which one am I supposed to select for GX interface bundle? I only see a none parking sensor bundle option but I have parking sensors.... also, can I get OE button for GX that they sell? Would that work?
The good news first. Yes the oe switch will work and is preferred. The bad news. The GX interface is only compatible with non-park assist trims. I have not seen or heard any new updates to this as of yet.
@GX*BOB thanks. I just realize I should clarify after I asked you the question. So it is parking assist that they don't support not the version that only has parking sensors. Right? Because I only have parking sensors. I may have mislead earlier.

Because technology is ever changing. I'm always on the lookout for items that have the potential to replace any of my current accessories. If you don't see something i had in my prior videos, its because i'm in the works of installing something better. For the most part.
My 2012 GX460 top spec already came with a front camera (4 in total left right front back) but the quality isn’t very good, can I use just this camera to upgrade the video quality
I would check your camera’s plug to see if it’s a universal fit with any other aftermarket plug. Stop by Beat Sonic and do a match up before you buy

What happens to the front camera when I put it into reverse? Will both the rear and front camera show in the nav?
Reverse will always show reverse regardless. If your front camera is activated, it’ll only go reverse if you switch to reverse from the switch

that would be pretty awesome. i looked into it and its pretty expensive and the install is extenstive too.
Will this work with the 2023-23 model?
The system and configuration is different than that of a 2014-2018.
2019-2020 added 360 cameras. 2021 completely changed infotainment system and added carplay.
So to answer your question, i seriously doubt the config/plugs, and wiring would be the same as in my tutorial.

I believe you are an undercover Lexus field service rep... This mod looks intimidating af and you blow through it with your eyes close! I like this mod but I don't know that I can do it without screwing something up! How long did it take you?
Gilbert, i think it only felt long because i had to retake shoots multiple times and capture different angles often. If i had to do it without filming....i would guess 2 hours because i've taken the vehicle apart so many times already.
@@GXBOB My gx has the proximity sensors so it probably won't work for front, I wonder if I could just get it and hook up the rear part of it so I could use the back camera whenever I want to.
Love your videos! Just picked up a 2022 GX. My reverse camera is awful. Curious if it’s possible to upgrade the camera for better clarity and wider display on the new screen?
Hey Brett, your best bet is use the video i made below that removes the rear view camera and check closely on its wiring and plug. You can also go to the extent of removing the rearview camera itself since the video also demonstrates how to take apart the tailgate panels. I say this because you will need to find out what type of plug or wiring is required and match it up with any aftermarket unit you plan to purchase. I wouldn't worry about damaging your Lexus electrical by plugging in an aftermarket camera since the oem uses the same technology and signal to receive video feed. I can not confirm or deny its compatibility since i don't have your generation GX. ( Wish i did though). Good luck. By the way.....you just gave me an idea for a new video. wink wink.
