Guitar cables drive me utterly insane, I sometimes think I might just go acoustic

I always understood that OL means Open Line not overload?

Some say Open Loop, some say Open Circuit, some say Overload. IMO, it should just stand for Open.

Overload isn’t the same terminology as open line. Electrical people would explode lol

My cable worked but when i put the peavey rage 158 amp on the distortion setting it wouldnt give me any distortion but the amp sound would get fuzzy like it is in the distortion mode. The cable read good connection on both center and bottom pieces of the input but when i put the lead on the tip of one side and the bottom of the other it also read connection so i think i have a short. My question is, do i have an amp problem or a cable problem? When i hit the button for distortion with no cable in it the amp does sound like it goes into the distortion setting but it seems weird that the cable would play but through the amp both amp settings sounded like clean tone, the distortion setting still sounded clean.

Very Clear and Concise video! I have been looking for 0.0 resistance when I make my cables. I've been getting the BEEP! But, always a register above perfect zero. Now, I know that .25 is acceptable. Thanks. Buying some alligator clips so I don't have to wrestle with holding the cables perfectly still. THANK YOU!
