  • The Sims has ANOTHER controversy (I genuinely don't want to constantly cover this content but they just keep coming lol) but this time it's about The Sims Mobile.
    The Sims Mobile has many similarities with The Sims 4, including many remeshed objects between them. But The Sims Mobile is now under criticism from The Sims community for being cashgrabby and not working as intended.
    Do you play The Sims Mobile?

    Imagine how much money they could make off the franchise if they just listened to the players. Most Sims players have been around since at least Sims 2, so by now we know what we want and we have been pretty loud about it. The fact that a company that big is completely lost with its current player demographic is so bizarre. Business Basics 101, if you lose the current fan -and customer base, there is slim to no chance that the game will attract new players, or at least enough to make it actually profitable. The project Renee was supposed to be The Sims 5, but the players gave them enough heat to do some PR management because they didn't want to repeat the Sims City disaster.

    I don't think EA cares AT ALL about putting out a good product or caring about their fanbase, even if it would make them more money in the long run. They want all of the money, they want it now, and they want to get it by pumping out as many cheap additions to the base game as possible, for as little as possible for as long as they can milk it and then they'll move on to the next franchise like they always do! And when I say they, I of course mean the ones at the top of the company, not the developers themselves who I am sure am trying their best and are just not given free reigns to fix what needs to be fixed! That's always how these things go.

The sims freeplay is better mobile game than the sims mobile but annoying thing on freeplay was that you needed to wait that sim is finished and unlock things like second floor, wallpapers, hobbies, who ho you needed to finish quests on timer.

    Im genuinely wondering if EA is wanting to be "bad" purposefully. Like, how can a company be THIS awful? I wonder if they are trying to ruin their reputation severely on purpose, perhaps to end the EA franchise and start up a new one under a fresh new name? Claim bankruptcy? Bad attention is better than no attention, like, lets all talk about how bad EA is and not focus on the new games like paralives or LBY coming out? Like, Im genuinely feeling like this is all planned.

    • @DaniJay-fk8qr
      @DaniJay-fk8qr ปีที่แล้ว +4

      People love to dunk on the Sims 3 store, but no, it was nowhere near as bad as this. When Sims 3 was the active game, there were lots of ways to get stuff from the Sims 3 store either for free, or at a deep discount. I mean, there are people out there who managed to get everything without spending a cent of actual money.
      There also used to be a lot of free items and sets on the website that you'd get just for signing up. Sadly, a lot of the free stuff is long gone, but there are still a few left if you look around.
      Were things overpriced? Yeah, if you bought them without waiting for a discount, or didn't have free Simpoints to spend. But, back in the day, they even gave you ways to earn free Simpoints.

    • @kevinw374

      I don't know about other people. But , I dunk on The Sims 3 store base on my own experiences and biases.
      I will admit. I enjoy, the large selection in items. The store had to offer. When I was using it. Didn't enjoy how it pull you away from actual game. Or the nickel and dimming experience.
      In my opinion, the Sims 3 store had some good pro about it. Just not enough to out weigh it's cons.

    • @DaniJay-fk8qr
      @DaniJay-fk8qr ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@kevinw374, I never said the Sims 3 store didn't have issues. A lot of things were over-priced. Waiting for sales and discounts made the prices a lot more reasonable. But there were plenty of Simmers who wouldn't wait for a sale to get something they really wanted. As soon as an item dropped, they would pay full price to get it immediately. And EA knew those people existed, which is why release prices were what they were.
      But, while the Sims 3 store had issues, it wasn't as bad as a lot of people try to make it out to be. It was never as bad as the Sims Mobile. (And I don't think what's gone on with the Sims 4 is somehow so much better...but that's another story.)

      But,from the sound of it. Sims mobile been getting the worst of it.

      Remember not to blame victims. That solves nothing. Blaming consumers only gives EA more power. If we fight each other, that takes the focus off their wrong doing and projects it on the player. A lot of EA's player base are either children who don't use their own money or adults who prefer simulation games, which the sims is the only prominent one available. There has definitely been a shift in EA's marketing style the last couple years. It's obvious they're trying to appeal to a new younger audience. Most likely because the older fan base has dropped in Sales.

      @@catsncrows some pay PR firms to make accounts and make them look authentic by making them stick around for a long time (I've seen a few celebrities that had negative press do this, it is tough to say exactly which accounts are real or not because these aren't bot farms, it someone paid to post for their job, the easiest way to tell is the hours/days they post but they can find ways around that sometimes).
      If the accounts ever posted non sims stuff specifically life stuff, I'd be more likely to think they were authentic accounts. But if it's exclusively sims and they're using the word "ungrateful" specifically, they *might* be toxic enough to support a game just because it's making tons of money, that can happen, but I'm more likely to think that Sims 4 got the smallest pr package. Which would make sense if it was 3 accounts to spread a specific message for a time frame. And I could definitely see easily an EA big wig expecting people to be grateful for bugs and price gouging and thinking *that's* the message they want to spend money on rather than fixing the game.

    I think about it, and it's not going to surprise me if The Sims Mobile is and _has been_ taking advantage of people who don't play The Sims 4 and don't know about the pricing of DLC in TS4, so they think it's reasonable to have to fork over big money for very little. I wonder if they've also been doing this on purpose... in a seemingly successful attempt to exploit the mobile market... but of course less now that TSM has been breaking and this class action lawsuit business has come up.
    I can definitively tell you that no microtransaction in The Sims Mobile is worth the money... not just because TS4 has much, _much_ better bang for your buck, but because TSM has hardly any gameplay compared to TS4 (and this is coming from a person who actually enjoys TS4 fairly regularly) and build/buy mode doesn't really work that well as it is.
