    I made the mistake of using WD-40 to oil my wifes machine'some years ago and it was laid up for some time. When she came to use it it was totally frozen up. I used a hair dryer to free up the mechanism by reducing the oil viscosity, and have now re oiled it with sewing machine oil. Lesson: do NOT use anything other than recommended oils. If your machine is stiff, try using a hair dryer, and follow uop with proper oil.

      Woops! :) Well, great tip about how to get things moving again! Thanks, Ken! And yes, only use sewing machine oil. :)

      YAY! You are so welcome! I'm so glad you were able to figure it out. I can't believe the manual didn't mention it! Eek! Happy Sewing!

    MY UPPER THREAD IS NOT PICKING UP THE LOWER THREAD.WHAT SHALL I DO?THANKS.

      There are three things you need to do to ensure this happens. First, make sure you're holding the upper thread taught against the sewing machine. (This will provide adequate resistance.) Second, you have to turn your handwheel TOWARD you. (Sometimes people turn it away from themselves instead of toward.) Third, you need to turn the hand wheel through one complete cycle. Watch the take-up lever go all the way down and all the way back up. If the take-up lever isn't all the way up, it's not a complete cycle. Sometimes people watch the needle, in which case a cycle hasn't been completed and the bobbin thread hasn't been caught. Watch this video at 7:20: th-cam.com/video/GhogDBjRXKg/w-d-xo.html. (Forgive me for how ancient this is. It's the first video I ever recorded, done about 10 years ago on a BlackBerry!) Keep me posted!

    What do you do when your feed dogs won't come back up

    • @MeDeniseWild
      @MeDeniseWild  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Have you found the switch that raises and lowers your feed dogs? If you're using the switch to properly engage/raise them and it's not working, you'll have to take your machine in to be repaired. If the switch does work properly, make sure that once you engage/raise the feed dogs yourself, you advance the handwheel toward you a couple times to bring them up. Keep me posted!

      Michael, I must admit, I regret selling it. I sold it to a friend, but I might call her up and let her know that if she ever wants to get rid of it, I'll buy it back from her! :) It is SUCH a good machine. A beast in the very best way!

    knowing the NAMES of the parts you are removing, cleaning, and oiling would be more polished and inspire confidence that YOU know what you are talking about and telling US what to do. "This thing here" does not make me confident that you are qualified to teach basic sewing machine maintenance. Otherwise, GOOD video!

    Taking apart the machine as you show violates its warranty. Not a good thing to recomend.

      Good tip! I guess this is something you can do once the warranty has passed on your sewing machine, which is definitely the case with this old baby! :)
