      I agree with that but at the same time tho Eddie made a few mistakes of his own...far as Im concerned once he made enough money and the risks outweighed the benefits he more or less turned his back on comedy and left everyone who grew up watching and depending upon him for comedy hanging. Altho I didnt hate it I wasnt really laughing during My Name is Dolemite...He hasnt made me laugh since he made Bowfinger...I feel more or less the same way about Bill Murray...the 2 of em more or less did the same thing, they both just walked away from comedy for 20yrs, and ultimately those of us who had supported them, grown up laughing at their jokes and movies were kinda left waiting and eventually searching for another to fill the void...At this point I think Chappelles best standup his jokes are funnier, far more clever than anything either of those 2 have ever done, but they made impactful movies in a way he hasnt ever come close to doing.

      @kate_m_k88 3 ปีที่แล้ว +23

      *I apologize; the following response became much longer than I initially expected it to, lol.*
      I want to preface this by saying that in no way are my intentions bad or anything remotely negative or disrespectful; out of curiosity, what does one have to do with the other? I'm genuinely a bit puzzled by the number of times I have come across comments implying that a black man or woman dating a white man or woman, whether it's once, twice, three times, or is a repetitive occurrence, that somehow it exhibits A: a lack of respect for their race or ownership of their race, or B: indicates that the person is in some aspects “less than” or a “fake” member of whatever race they are. Honestly, I see this most often when it is about a black male who tends to date white women. Now, don't get me wrong. I can cognitively break it down and develop possible reasons why this may upset individuals, given the incredibly apparent and reoccurring racism issue we continue to see in America, especially. I would be lying, also, is I said that in my 32 years of life that I have never heard someone make a negative remark about this exact subject. However, it's been *years* since I have personally heard something like this; plus, it seems rather odd when we are striving for progression and not moving backward as we enter the year 2021. I wouldn't be surprised seeing or hearing complaints of inter-racial coupling from some white, absurdly old-fashioned, out-dated individual or an openly or closeted racist, but to see it occur so frequently from people of color shaming, usually the men, of their very own race; I'm a bit taken aback, I can't lie, lol.
      Maybe, this is due to the majority of my friends not having an issue with this specific topic [I can't recall any of my friends having a problem with a person, like me, dating a man of their race, or visa versa if I were a man dating a woman, or even inter-racial LGBTQ relationships]. A number of my friends, regardless of their race, are in inter-racial relationships; in general, inter-racial relationships are a widespread occurrence where I live.
      I had a discussion, well, an attempted mature conversation with a young lady who was, evidently, too young to have one of those, lol; it regarded Michael Jackson specifically [no, this is not an invitation to discuss anything about Michael Jackson, lol; especially if it is going to be some nonsense] and some very pointless topic of “what type of woman Michael preferred,” and her statements implied that Michael allegedly spoke that he preferred women of his race, which, I didn't disagree with him loving black women, but that it's pretty common knowledge for those of us that actually grew up with Michael and us, not infants or not born yet when Michael died, lol, that Michael always stated that he loves *all women* and never gave a specific answer as far as physical appearance. Anything that I have ever heard on that particular topic from those incredibly close to Michael Jackson is that Michael cared most about what was on the inside and was attracted to all sorts of different beautiful women. This young lady was adamant that anyone implying that Michael loved white women at all, regardless if he loved black women as well and has been in relationships with black women too, but just the very implication that he loved white women, in general, even though there are several cases of him being with white women, lol; somehow, to her, this was people “white-washing” her idol. Even just repeating all of that gives me a headache, lol. With this specific youngin’, there was no talking to her rationally, lol.
      The reason I mentioned this interaction at all is that it not only ties into the same topic here but that I wanted to share what I essentially told her. I touched on the same factors as 2021, and we are supposed to be moving toward, not backward, etc., but I also had explained my thoughts like this: I know that I don't exactly have a “type.”. I have been with several different types of men, and that I don't control what I find attractive. If I see a man that I am attracted to, I simply find him attractive. The same goes for anyone that I am close to and can think of; it also applies to those individuals who are gay, bi, etc. They do not have control over who or what they find attractive; it just happens to be whoever triggers that left portion of the brain to become active and start pumping out dopamine, lol. Now, we all know that personalities can play a significant role in making someone attractive. You can be the most beautiful person physically but suck ass when it comes to your character and personality; thus, making you very unattractive almost immediately, lol. Some people just have to open their mouths and “bam” unattractive, haha. There are also factors like someone having a horrible experience, or multiple, with a particular race in relationships, or other exterior circumstances affecting someone becoming “turned off” by that specific race or choosing to date a different race due to those experiences in past relationships or circumstances. Typically, I don't see that as common as I do people simply being attracted to whoever gets those “juices,” so to speak, flowing. That was a horrible choice of words, lol.
      So, my question remains; why do so many people believe something that is realistically uncontrollable and harmless to be shameful or disgraceful towards a person’s race as a whole? I'm asking genuinely and not trying to be an ass about it; It would nice to have a mature conversation and receive someone’s very own personal stance on the situation. Other than that, I still don't see how Rick James being upset about black people abandoning him during tough times is at all directly relates to him chasing white women in his prime, lol. That's practically saying that because he chased some white ass, he shouldn't expect people of his race to defend him or stand by his side, lol; if that's the case, well, that's, in my opinion, very unfortunate to hear and to be brutally honest, a bit petty.

    Rick James stated himself all the hellbound characters he kept himself surrounded by. Successful people have a wisdom that understands you become like who you’re around by social osmosis. Rick was destructively on his way down to a terrible place, on a runaway train to hell, which would take anyone right along with him if they persisted to bullsh*t around with Rick. No one turned their back, wise people just know when to get out of dodge. ESPECIALLY when they’ve consistently warned Rick he was doing too much off the wall, too far, unacceptable sh**. I’ve dealt with this kind of individual and man is it fatiguing- you care about them and try to help them see the light but they’re in they’re own crazy, so they keep doing what they do. You’ll get hurt if you don’t get out while you can!

      The unofficial story is that most of Eddies entorauge and certainly Charlie Murphy mostly partied and did cocaine with him and probably enabled his behavior over the decade or so that they where friends, it wasnt until he no longer had big pull of being a rockstar musician did they start to pull back in the late 80's. Alot of the hollywood relationships tend to be purely transactional and fall apart once one party has nothing to offer the other party.
