    Sarah there are not two stations with Hamburg in them but there are THREE stations. Heading into Hamburg the train will call at Hamburg-Harburg which just serves a small area so do not get off there. Then comes Hamburg Hauptbahnhof or Hamburg Main Station and lastly most trains call and terminate at Hamburg Altona station.

    • @ft4709
      @ft4709 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      it's actually four since every train that stops at Hbf and Altona will stop at Dammtor as well. Highly recommend getting on at Altona or Dammtor if you spend a few days in Hamburg. Usually it's a lot easier and less crowded and might actually be faster depending on where you stay.

    • @drdewott9154
      @drdewott9154 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      True. I mean I'm from the Copenhagen area, and Dutch cities are so much better than anything we have here. Like we have so many excessive cars, unpleasant, dangerous, and polluting megaroads, and very bad intersections. Like what were they thinking. They even have better cycling infrastructure standards in Malmö.

    What a lovely video.
    Gotta say, on the Danish train, you were really lucky to have one of those guys coming by and selling snacks. Its a measure DSB has introduced since 2020 called "Kaffe Expressen", which they've been testing as a replacement for their old snack trolleys, which they stopped using almost a decade ago. Though tbh its a bit of a mess. You won't even know if they'll show up at all when booking a ticket, or depending on which service you're on. Like DSB on their website said they would only be on "select Lightning trains", and the Hamburg train isn't a lightning train. They really need to improve on that stuff ngl.
    And its great to see you enjoy Copenhagen. Coming from a local, I will say though we definitely have problems with excessive car use, and especially subpar public transit. Like the Trains and Metro are good, but the buses are really subpar, and that, combined with less than desireable reliability and high prices compared to commuting by car (not to mention the free parking on Sundays like I swear to god), and you get a huge chunk of the population who could be taking sustainable transit, instead polluting with their cars instead, all due to a lack of policy to make transit more attractive. Many Dutch cities are at least a decade ahead of us in Copenhagen when it comes to sustainable urban planning.
    In short we do a lot of things right that would be hard for other places, but we fail on some of the most basic stuff, like having affordable public transit, or having buses that don't get stuck in traffic. Or y'know stop investing in expanding or building new highways. I mean if you want an idea of how bad we still are, just look at the vanity project that is the Artificial island of Lynetteholm, or the way the Metro is financed.
    The Mock village in Lund is cute though. We have several like that in Denmark, including one in the north of Copenhagen called "Frilandsmuseet". But the biggest and most famous one is in Aarhus, Denmarks 2nd largest city, which has "Den Gamle by". Which has moved buildings representing towns all the way from the 1860's, all the way through the many years until the mid 1970's and soon even the 2010's, with a new entrance making it so you enter in the 2010's area and go further back in time the further into the museum you go. Highly reccomend it if you ever stop by Denmark again.
    Also Sweden did have plans for a high speed network at the same speeds as the Eurostar connecting its 3 largest cities. However the new right wing swedish government elected a few months ago cancelled the whole thing despite widespread public support, and based on their recent claims, they really don't seem to understand railways at all.
    That's all, sorry for the long comment.

    I agree with your take on lesser taking flights in order to reduce your carbon footprint. I don’t see the differences of reasons why. Family, work or leisure doesn’t make a difference for earth but are widely diverse on personal reasons. We shouldn’t judge people on the reasons they travel

    • @sarahb.m.5730
      @sarahb.m.5730 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Marie, it's not really about judging people's personal choices. Flying is not going to stop and is necessary is some situations so we need to find a way to prioritise the flights that are needed, both through policy and personally. Also when I first started to think about my personal flights a few years I found it helpful to prioritise the flights that I thought at the time were the most important e.g visiting family in America so I thought it might to be helpful to others too. x
