Yeah rural Germany is amazing. Last autumn I went to the region around Eisenach and Wartburg Castle. Amazing hikes there, through clefts and over hills.
Hi Scott. I came across your channel randomly and as a german citizen I looked forward to see these two videos you have here. I am happy you choose this area of Germany...normally tourists will choose places like Bavaria or something. Sorry about your experience with the no card thing...I don't know what is up with this area. I hope you enjoyed your stay anyway. And btw...I will be in Scottland at the end of August....a few days of vacation...looking forward to it...any hints for me maybe?! God bless Steffi
I really would like to go to Germany and to explore everything in Germany as well taking a ride on the ICE and TGV high speed trains. Fabulous scenery I must say 😍
I have to be honest. Walking holidays seem my kind of hell 😂, but you always make your walking videos so enjoyable and pleasant to watch. Thank you for doing these.
These off-the-beaten-track adventures are the best, and this is yet another gem. I bet they don't see many Scotsmen around there and it appears that (05:50) they still shoot them when they do! Lovely stuff.
Great video Scott. I'm so glad you noticed that little town from your train and decided to visit. You could turn this into a game like your tram game but instead of throwing dice you throw a dart at a map and try to figure out how to get to it and film the journey. Lol Cheers from 🇨🇦!
Excellent video Scott as usual. Those ‘peas’ that you saw was Oil Seed Rape, the crop that is also common in the UK and is well known for its bright yellow flowers in spring. The small black seeds will be harvested with a combine harvester and then they are crushed to extract the oil for use mainly as cooking oil. Being part of the same plant family as cabbages you may have noticed a mild odour of rotting cabbages.
Beautiful scenery all throughout- that was quite an adventurous trek with stones and metal steps . Surprisingly you didn't mention a meal break there . Keep walking Scot Walker.
I had a great time at Festung Königstein and die Bastei rock in Sächsische Schweiz Julia Bradbury does a nice film about that area but not as far as the border.
Scott, one of the most enjoyable videos you've made. We are very lucky to have someone that's prepared to take us to new frontiers through your journeys seen through your eyes. I first stumbled across your channel by sheer coincidence and I don't regret it. Keep up the good work and I look forward to the next offering.
Fantastic video as always Scott, the fire engine is an IFA W5O which was produced in vast numbers in the old DDR between 1965 and 1990. It is very likely that it will still be in use by the volunteer fire brigade (Freiwillige Feuerwehr). Keep up the good work, a loyal subscriber and fire engine fan! 😊
Good video Scott. I'm doing a trip from Bratislava - Vienna - Prague - Berlin in a few weeks. I can see myself doing a similar thing with Euros/Czech Koruna on my trip in Prague.
That fire engine is an East German lorry/truck called IFA, if I anot mistaken. The only reason I know that is that they used to run in my home city of St. Petersburg (then Leningrad)... But not as fire engines...
As your staying in Hrensko, you're well within walking distance of Pravčická brána/Prebischtor, Europe's largest natural sandstone arch. Well worth a visit.
You will aldo find these little wooden towers all over Sweden for the moose-hunt in the autumn... VERY popular among germans ... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moose
I live in Dresden. Thanks for visiting and showing the area. It's still somewhat of a secret as far as tourist areas go in Germany. Love living here.
Was there recently again and again. This time loads of people everywhere.
4:38 Rapeseed also know as canola, for cooking oil. Another great adventure to places I’ll likely never get to!
Your videos are consistently brilliant Scott 🏴
I am touched by your enthusiasm
Great video Scott and thenk you for your time in making this and other videos for us to see what we are missing out on.

Fascinating Scott.... thank you
Fantastic as always. Great scenery. The steps really were musical. The inside of the church is beautiful. Thank you for sharing

Top lad. Always inspiring me to travel

I had a couple of English speakers ask me why I came to their part of the world. I love getting off the beaten track occasionally.
Does that include part german scotspeople?
You pair of Scottish lads will get a nose bleeds going so far from Scotland

A fantastic episode! I'm German myself and I never gave the region you are in a second thought.

When hiking I use a bug net over my head when I stop for a rest hate the mosquitoes 😂
Nice old well kept old church which is fantastic too see thanks scott
It is so pretty around that area of South-east Germany, Scott.😊
Great watch...love Germany....👍🏴
Great video Scott,this is a real adventure,many more please.🏴
Yup you've done it again. Really enjoyable and trains as well.
Another great video. Many thanks.
Looks an amazing countryside
great stuff as always
Lovely scenery, and so much accomplished, up big hills and steep tracks, to chatting on the ferry, to war memorials. Very enjoyable video!
Well that beat 24 hours from Tulsa Scott! Fascinating insight into rural Germany.

I was already watching couple of your videos, but this one made me subscribe!
Thank you!
Scott, I admire your stamina on these fantastic travels. Another highly entertaining video. D
Flying insects yum 😋
Great video - beautiful church, nice find!!
Good video Scott.

You are correct. Although I grew up in West Germany I've seen that kind of vehicle quite a lot when we travelled from West Berlin to West Germany.
Makes me want to revisit Germany, despite only seeing a small part of it last time.
I know most phones would have some sort of step counter.
I can feel that weather... 😅
Hello Scott, what you have seen on the field is rapeseed.
Probably for biodiesel...
As your staying in Hrensko, you're well within walking distance of Pravčická brána/Prebischtor, Europe's largest natural sandstone arch. Well worth a visit.
5:15 That's not only for hunting...
At least on this walk you didn't encounter deadly snakes and spiders, prevalent in the Aussie Bush Scott.
I do hope he checked for ticks, though. Eastern and Southern Germany is full of them, and some carry nasty diseases.
@@barvdw Lyme disease?
@@Eurobazz for instance, but also Rickettsia, Tick-born Encephalitis, etc.
@@barvdw Ye Gods! ☹☹☹
@@Eurobazz our wildlife isn't nearly as hellbent on trying to kill us as yours, but yeah, risks are everywhere.
Hi Scott, have you visited Halle (Saale)?
4:45 the plants look like rapeseeds. For rapeseed oil. The liquid gold of northern Europe.
That plant looks like rapeseed to me - Brassica napus .
Schona said the best one came from Tupelo, Mississippi
Isn't the first village pronounced Sherner not Shona because of the umlaut? It means beautiful.
Patton was ordered not to cross the Elbe. So, he did…
Bradley was furious.
the always yesterday's underway again....
I was getting Blair Witch vibes
Scott, have you ever heard of a clothing Iron, wrinkles galore on that T shirt, LOL 😢
After a few hours of wearing, it's wrinkled anyway, so 🤷
Zero graffiti
Have you ever traveled beyond Europe? 😂😂😂😂
