My brother's an insurance adjuster. He said it makes his day to review these videos. He had a "victim" sitting across from him and he was wearing a neck brace. He showed him the dash cam videos and explained that the "victim" or his insurance would be paying for the damage for the front end of their insured's vehicle. He said the man stormed out of the office and he saw him angrily rip the neck brace off before he got into his car. He said, "Praise God! He's healed! It's a miracle!"

@@xl000 yep. It was one of those claims offices you used to see everywhere. Allstate had those drive in estimating services.
I've been hit while legally parked in front of my house three times. The first one left in the back of a police car and the other filed suit. They were dismissed.
The third one even wanted money for medical bills yet when he left the scene it was in a car with whomever he called. I also have pictures of him lifting a heavy case from the trunk and walking around uninjured talking on his phone. Neither of the ones who filed suit knew I had to photograph accidents when I was on active duty which means I know what, who to photograph.

Edit: since I'm still getting replies to this a year later, physics still operate on a bike. Even if he disconnected the light, the light was broken, or he let off the accelerator sharply, the front of the bike will still dip, because physics.

Most of us drive reasonably obeying the law & just enjoying being out on our bikes.
It fills my heart with comforting warmth and immeasurable joy when a brake checker meets his well-deserved end.

As someone who got hit by a semi (car in front of me stopped to park, semi behind me did not manage to stop), I can say that it is very scary and the amount of damage it does to the car is incredible.
Seriously, these brake checkers are insane.
I'm ashamed to say I once did a (simulated) brake check many years ago. Some guy was aggressively tailgating me for miles on an Interstate and I got the bright idea to switch on my headlights. The lighting of the tailights caused him to panic and do a skidding stop. I delightfully drove away laughing my a*s off.

I've never understood the brake checking thing, although it has been done to me more than once.
I hope all the drivers that brake checked others and caused accidents were charged and sued. That really is dangerous and can be deadly. There's no room for behavior like that.
One of the worst places to brake check is on the freeway where high speeds are involved. I had someone brake check me on I-10 some 3 or 4 months ago. A really dumb thing to do.
Its also dangerous not to keep your distance. Maybe that's why people blink with their brake lights? Because you can't drive?

And what about those who deliberately ram the person who checks them. One behaviour is risky and bad manners, the other is a deliberate act of violence contrary to the rule of law. If 5 years is OK for a brake check then what? 50 years for a deliberate ramming?
Dude, the person brake checking them deserves to be rammed because there purposely trying to make the person behind them crash and get hurt. It’s road rage to brake check and insurance fraud.

If someone gets caught on camera brake-checking another person, they should be fined a minimum of $10,000 dollars or put in jail. It's basically causing an accident on purpose which, in my mind, is no different than aggravated assault or even attempted murder, since some of the crashes they cause can be really bad and life-threatening. There's no excuse, people who brake-check are the scum of the earth.

I only partially use brake checks, get some distance and tap them enough to jolt myself. I only do it when they didn’t respond to lights or flashers from behind, and they are driving erratically/ something is wrong with their vehicle.

Funny thing is , in 23 yrs of driving,I never saw a brake check until I started watching these videos. I got a brake check intended for someone else. I pulled out of 7 11 to an empty road and a red light. Traffic pulls up, green light and the woman to the right sped up and brake checked me three times and gave me the finger. I was working about 30 miles from home and she was headed in the direction that I came from, I just had to go back in that direction a few blocks to get to the job site so I know it had to be a similar vehicle that did her dirty lol. Brake checking is dumb

I'm sure its no fun for anyone involved but also, I think if you go in front of a huge death machine and slap the brakes, it really is your own fault if you die, Darwin award.
No one died or intended to die here, but these assholes wanted to sue the truckers for insurance. If a car hits you and you don't have a camera or manage to get his number, you'll be stuck with paying for the damage or get ** from your boss. It's more sad than funny.

Mountains of paperwork, the inevitable private lawsuits after being cleared of legal responsibility by the authorities, having a DOT reportable on your record that will haunt you for 3 to 5 years (depending on the company you're applying with), having to live with the fact that you were involved in someone else's death in the event of a fatality accident... I think I'll do my damnedest to avoid their sorry ass. My logs are legal and my truck's maintenance record is on point, but goddamn does reality go out the window with the 4 wheelers and/or their loved ones once us tractor-trailers get involved

I've seen this clip before. That's a common technique for robbers in that area(brazil I think?), they block in the bus on both sides, get out and run into the bus and rob everyone. The bus driver was not about to let that happen.

You have additional footage of the incident? because both cars in #3 were stopped and the Aggressor was *in front* of the cammer who then passed the aggressors car! plus how can you tell the cammer didn't look before merging into traffic? because from what i saw they merged safely. In any case his break checking gives the other driver the right to do the exact same thing, stop in the middle of a busy road, and attempt to physically attack or remove the cammer from their vehicle?

we need a worldwide petition: brake checking is reckless driving, endangerment, impeding traffic, in some cases vehicular homicide and fraud. I say 4X the minimum fine and jail time, brake checking is absolutely out of control and is in no way harmless, or a victimless crime.

I think the problem is TH-cam they see juvenile delinquents on learners bikes behaving like ars#holes pulling wheelies do as they please forgetting or not caring about other road users who get pissed of with the behaviour so they "copy" said ars#holes because most the time drivers "tolerate the behaviour" but are seen as "pussies" by these so called "bikers"

Don't just stop there, if the truck hits the car into other people too that brake checker is liable for those other cars. If the trucker has no dash cam and a situation like this happens, insurance makes the truckers insurance fix the brake checker, but the brake checker's insurance pays for anyone he got knocked into.
Same thing when the victim is in a consumer vehicle.
Mmh... the courts disagree. A 4-wheeler so much as looks at me the wrong way before going into the drink, and I guarantee that at least one lawyer will find a way to make it my fault. I don't even have to be involved in the actual wreck... they just have to find a way to shift the blame onto the presence of my truck in the vicinity of the crash. Jurors aren't exactly my allies, either

THE 3 BRAKECHECK RULES
1. Have a dashcam
2. Don't slow down, don't steer, go for the crash
3. If they step out at a red light etc, honk until they get back in

Or you can brake and avoid a crash altogether. If you crash while braking, it's going to look a lot better to your insurance and they'll be more likely to cover damages.

I Can only imagine the brake-checker's insurance rates skyrocketing after the insurance company sees the videos. It would likely render them virtually unable to afford to drive after that, so somewhat of the same outcome, getting them off the road.

A lot of these people don't seem to realise that in most countries, if they get filmed maliciously "Brake checking" someone, and that results in a fatal accident, they WILL end up in court, and may face prison time.
Here in the UK several years back I read about a pretty big multi car pile up on a motorway in a heavy night time snow storm. Quite a few people died when lorries began ploughing into all the crashed cars. After the police finished taking statements from the survivors, and reviewed all the traffic /dash cam footage they could get, it was discovered that it was all caused by someone brake checking someone who then panic braked, lost control and got hit by another car behind them. It was then like dominos as more cars slammed into the ever expanding mass of crashed cars. The police found the car in video footage from several of the following traffic cameras until it passed one that got a usable shot of the vehicles registration plate. The owner was arrested, and during questioning admitted to "Trying to teach the other driver a lesson" for not letting him past.
I can't remember exactly how many years that driver got in prison for it, but I do remember initially thinking it was quite a lot considering he didn't intend for anyone to die. Then it dawned on me that he was fully aware that what he was going to do COULD cause an accident, and dispite the horrendous driving conditions, he chose to do it anyway. His thoughtless actions cost 20odd people their lives that night (Including an entire young family in one car !)....... When I thought of that, the sentence actually started to feel really quite lenient ! 🙁

Last week I saw a middle-aged white guy on the BQE in a BMW with partially-tinted windows and white spray paint all over his car who was driving like a lunatic. This guy was brake checking people left and right. Three times he actually got out of his car in the middle lane to yell at the people behind him. Each time, the other drivers looked befuddled and he'd slow traffic to a crawl. At one point, this big truck started honking him and the guy just flipped him the bird.

In the US, during the 1980s there was a series of high profile hijackings where the trucks were brake checked to a stop and the drivers shot. In response, the trucking industry got laws passed in 36 states that said if someone brake checks you, you have the right to ram them out of the way as long as you report it to police. Every state in the west still has this in effect. (I checked, 5/14/2022) This means that if you brake check a truck, they have the right to ram you out of the way with no consequences as long as they report it to police. If they have video, your insurance must pay and you are also liable for criminal charges if police feel like it. Most police and most truckers aren’t aware of this. I only know because our company trained us in “ram and run” after one of our drivers was killed. After that, one of our drivers rammed a car off an embankment that tried to brake check him. The police found the car crushed as it had rolled multiple times. Four dead guys with AKs inside. That driver probably saved more lives than his own. I quit that job decades ago. But I still remember “ram and run.” Ram them out of the way and run to the nearest police station. Still the law.

not every video has sound. The cameras aren't all equipped with audio, so if he didn't put background music, it'd just be 30 seconds of silence.
This music is fairly tame and quiet and it kinda ties the whole video together. This is much better than a mashup of crashes at wildly varying volume levels.
I remember back when I was a kid. WAY BACK! LOL I heard my Dad talking about when he was in Kansas City. He said if you didn't move the second the light turned green, you'd get a bump to remind you! 😂

Ever since I installed an Australian cattle guard on my truck I don’t seem to get many break checks. I did get this one and I folded the trunk all the way to the back seat. The guy came up the #1 lane and passed me by 100 ft and stomped on his breaks, it was glorious, I folded his car in half and only got a few scratches . The camera and cattle guard saved me thousands in one accident from an accident scammer.
exactly why i have a dash camera in every car i own. already saved my ass from someone that caused an accident and tried to tell the police it was my fault. Should have seen the other drivers reaction when the cop was watching the replay......PRICELESS!!!!!!!
