  • So over the past week I've been able to get out and enjoy some trainspotting at last, and I've had one goal, to see some Class 69s as I'm a little bored of Class 66s. And that's just what I did!
    I managed to catch 69001 'Mayflower' and 69004 out on the RHTT at London Fields and Hackney Downs. I also managed to catch 69008 returning the 4Y19 service from Mountfield to Southampton and finally I managed to catch 69009 at Clapham Junction working a trip from Eastleigh to Hoo Junction which was worked by 69008 the previous week.
    As a bonus, 67024, 57003 and 57310 'Pride of Cumbria' also make an appearance in this video!
    I hope you enjoy the video and thanks for watching!

    I have to say those 69’s are very workmanlike, a blend of 56 industrial design with up to date internals. Thanks.

      I agree, I'm still on the fence whether I like them or not, some look great like 69001 and 69004 but some like 69007 just don't look quite right for some reason. For the moment I think I'm leaning towards liking them :)
      I hope you enjoyer, thanks for watching!

    Great stuff.... Looks like a 56 which just wonderful shame they don't have the intoxicating clag or the 56..... Still these 69 are impressive nice to see these relics still working on the network..... I have treasured memories of the awsome 56s hauling coal on MGR here on the Robin Hood line here in Notts / Derbyshire.... Wonderful sight and sound.... A 56 hauling coal was in its element... Great days...

      They're quite good locomotives and they're slowly growing on me - I've seen a few Class 56s and they (still to this day) are something else, wonderful machines. My dad tells me about the times he used to drive them on the coal trains as you describe with HAA wagons I think they're called. Their paxman engines certainly sound magnificent!
      Sadly the 69s just sound like a 66 but at least they're giving new life to once abandoned locos.
      Anywho, thanks for watching!

      Glad you seem to be enjoying! Could be an idea for next time! And when you say Class 80 do you mean Class 60? 70s is one I'll be on the lookout for for sure!
      Anyway, thanks for watching!

    it's weird seeing grids and hearing them with shed engines in them! I seen one for the 1st time A few weeks ago near Manchester 69003 and I prefer screaming grids any day to these grid/sheds as I call them now lol 😆

    • @photographerjamie
      @photographerjamie  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think I agree, I much prefer the screaming paxman engine of a 56 but the 69 is just something different to see so I'm beginning to warm up to them. I've seen all 10 built thus far but you're well on your way to doing the same :)
      Thanks for watching!

      @@photographerjamie We didn't get 'stick the Sulzer back' with the 57s... Now if only the 56s had had a Sulzer V16 instead of the thrashy Paxmans...

    If you close your eyes and just listen to the sound you would not know it's not a 66

    • @photographerjamie
      @photographerjamie  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I thought the same when I first heard 69001 rev out of Margate. I thought it sounded quite familiar 😂
      For modellers I suppose that's a good thing, just put a Class 66 sound chip in. I also thought that the 67s sounded a lot like class 66s also 🤔
      Anyway, thanks for watching! :)

    Great vid, what stations were the class 69s and 57 rhtt at please

    • @photographerjamie
      @photographerjamie  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The class 69s on RHTT were filmed at London Fields and Hackney Downs (right next to eachother)
      And the 57s were filmed at my local station Margate, though you have a higher chance seeing them at Tonbridge

    RHTTs clean the rails but what cleans the RHTTs?

    • @photographerjamie
      @photographerjamie  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Never seen it happen before but I assume someone can jet wash it or they can put it through a carriage cleaner (usually cleans trains).

      @@photographerjamie In every shot I've seen of a RHTT on TH-cam they are filthy. My guess is that some the cr@p blasted off the rails ends up on them!

    • @photographerjamie
      @photographerjamie  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You're quite right, they do get get very dirty from blasting the rails, if you watch my video about 69010/2023 RHTT season, you can see the difference from the beginning compared to the end of RHTT season!

    None these locos appear to have shed codes, how come?

    • @photographerjamie
      @photographerjamie  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I honestly can't tell you because I don't know, but from what I've seen so far, they're not actually based anywhere yet, they were originally based at Tonbridge but since they all went back to Longport they've been all over the country on weedkiller duties, plus 69009 and 69010 have just come out and aren't even painted yet. My guess is they're touring them around GBRf depots for drivers to train on before they'll even be allocated to anywhere.

  • @jacksonstrainandbusadventures
    @jacksonstrainandbusadventures 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    Are they going to paint that 69

    • @photographerjamie
      @photographerjamie  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I'd certainly hope so! But it seems for the time being 69009 AND 69010 are stuck in their primer livery 😂
      It is weird though considering they get painted at Eastleigh and 69009 is literally operating out of Eastleigh, you would've thought they'd paint it but hey, up to GBRf.
      Anyway, thanks for watching!

      The clips of 69001 and 69004 were filmed on the 3/11/2023 I think if I remember correctly and the clips of 69009 and 69008 were filmed on the 8/11/2023.
      67024 was also filmed on the 3/11/2023.
      57003 and 57310 were filmed around 28/10/2023
