First, thank you for taking the time to share your expertise with us. I do want to share that my favorite "what's in my bag" videos tend to not only reveal what's in the bag but show more than tell why they are in there. so like while talking about a lens cuts to some images captured with it (with settings used) and why you choose it over another option. Cheers.
Nice setup, great video! Do you mind to share the names of the 2 big bags with us please? I'm planning to buy a roller bag and yours looks just the perfect size for me. Thanks
Lol, so much stuff I never knew I needed. But then I'm not a Professional wedding photographer. Good job you have an assistant, carrying that much equipment for any length of time wouldn't be easy.
I do have to admit that lately because of Covid I haven’t been bringing along an assistant and I do carry it all myself but I’ve change the reflector to be the lastolite trigrip so I can hold it myself
Well done, I now have an image in my head of you with camera, light, reflector etc looking similar to a one man band. or should that be one band person to be politically correct, no offence intended! Having recently shot a wedding for a relative, I cant help but admire anyone with the confidence to do this professionally. Although they said they loved the photos, I found myself looking at them and thinking, if I had done it this way or changed the shutter speed, or done this etc etc they would have been so much better. That goodness I did it for free. I'm not sure I'll do another one and will maybe stick to taking images for pleasure. I suppose confidence comes with experience and being able to learn quickly from mistakes, as long as they are not too horrendous. Not a good way to influence future wedding couples though. :-))
There are times I think about packing light then I’m like but what if... and then start grabbing more gear than I usually ever need. But I finally made it easier on myself a couple years ago and got me a little collapsible wagon lol. Someday I’ll learn I don’t always need to carry so much gear but then again it kinda helps Adorama as I’m oh I might need that haha Thanks for sharing 😁
I was thinking about a new speed light and after watching this video I took the plunge and got the A1X. It is awesome. So intuitive. It is a dream to use and the quality of the light is amazing. I was watching a video of you doing an engagement shoot and there was a part where the couple was walking away and towards you. I believe you were moving as well. What camera settings would you use for something like that? Thanks.
Thanks for sharing. Always interesting to see what others pack for an event. I am wondering, though, if there is a particular reason why you record your videos in the vertical mode?
I prefer the reflector when I can since it matches the natural light color better and is easier to use. But if I need more light or I’m using gels to change the color of the scene then I use my flash
@@VanessaJoy Great to know.. Thank you. I know the reflector is easier but its hard for me to manage when Im alone. Ill have to practice that way you held and shot at the same time in that video with Juliana!
@@VanessaJoy Would love to see a video on how you use the A1 on camera outside..where you aim etc to not get too flat of a light! Is this a last resort or would you do this regularly?
We can do a GoFundMe to get you some new jeans since yours are falling apart. :) I have a 50mm 1.2L but haven't used it much, I will start using it more. I have got some great shots of my daughter using to 100mm f2.8L Why isn't that a good lens for portraits? Another great Video, Thank you.
Hi Vanessa, I'm debating whether to get your presets... I just do photography as a hobby and I volunteer as our church photographer. Would you recommend your packaged presets for a person like myself?
interesting look into your bag. Thanks. But I don't understand why you choose Instagram style video format and waste so much area by having a portrait oriented video in a landscape window on TH-cam. 2/3rds of the area is wasted and everything is much smaller and more difficult to see properly.
Hello, Vanessa. You really are an adorable person. I could watch you pack forever. There's an order to everything. But oh my god i can see your knee through your trousers, there's a big hole. What would your mother say? Even Seth has trousers without holes. (-;
Vanessa Joy You are not only a great photographer who makes the effort to pass on her knowledge. You also have a great sense of humor, which makes you extremely likeable. All the best for you.
Thanks for introducing the Profoto flash, A1... something I have not explored previously... Have only used Canon EX600....

I have a whole separate videos on specific lenses for that for you. :-)
I've opted to get a fold up wagon to haul my gear, lol. I haven't tried it yet but I think my back may appreciate it.
Ha ha that’s definitely a good solution
@@VanessaJoy I keep saying I'm getting old. I think I'm already there, LOL.
I got a folding wagon to haul all of my work gear and it works really well! Makes for a nice “home base” as well.

Haha I feel the same way
If you bring 135mm is there really a need of 85mm...betweeun this two which one will you choose?
Sometimes I leave the 85 but they give very different results.

Dumb question but do you not bring the lens hoods? I hate lens hoods so much because of their weird shapes and sizes in the bags.
Are you sure you don't the help of movers for all your gear? No redundancy for your gear?
Interesting video, especially for the amateur I am.
So nice bag portrait photography gear!👍
Do you use your off camera flash without a modifier for these sessions? No light stand? Or you just use the "human" light stand 😂😂

The description literally states this was from Adorama's Instagram
Thanks for the video! Wondering...how do you determine when to use the reflector vs when to use the A1 for fill?
I prefer the reflector when I can since it matches the natural light color better and is easier to use. But if I need more light or I’m using gels to change the color of the scene then I use my flash

Hazard Storms try the lastolite trigrip - I hold that myself all the time :)
@@VanessaJoy will do!

Haha I’ll always accept a clothing budget 😉

I suppose that depends. What’s your editing process right now?
Do you or your assistant carry a backup camera body to the event?
To events yes. To engagement sessions no.

There is a thing like landscape mode, you know. 🤪

Post a vid about backup 😁😁😁
As in my camera back up or what I do to back up my images?
@@VanessaJoy backup images :)))
I am guilty of leaving my lens on my camera in my bag. Why are you not suppose to?
Thought we know all of your gear and have same equipment but , our photos cannot be the same with you,,
bcause your experience
I imagine you use your assistant as light stand.. 😅
Yes :)
@@VanessaJoy I bet I wouldn't find "that" light stand in Adorama. ha ha..
❤❤❤
You're not supposed to travel with the lens on?.........oooooops
Watching this video l must say that l feel very happy not being your assistant on a wending day ... lol :D
Haha I don’t blame you

Jesus that's huge

Her mother may say that those pants are in style and that it's her knee? What are you even trying to say here?
Hahaha 😂 seth is just more classy than me I guess 🤷🏻♀️ and lets not get into what my mother thinks 😉
