Personally I loved the slow burn of Tom’s Spidey. More personal development and allowed me to get invested in not only his world, but his connection to the MCU overall. It was brilliant to give him everything only for it to be taken away (or just given up by him in the end) so that his life can progress. Letting the boy die so the man can live. Brilliant!

@@scruffd0g193 Personally I love the idea that the entirety of the next trilogy should be building up to a handover: the first movie is Peter having to go it alone against a new threat (most likely Scorpion) while Miles is introduced and gets his bite; the second is Peter training Miles as a sidekick; and the third is the passing of the torch
In terms of raw pure acting talent it has to easily go to Andrew Garfield, his performance in hacksaw ridge elevated him to goat status. As an upcoming actor, Tom Holland probably has the biggest potential and is incredible in the role of Spider-Man. Tobey, I’m my opinion, has a good performance in some movies and then not so good performances in others (Spider-Man being a mediocre acting performance). Tobey has a brilliant performance in the film brothers but overall I have to give it to Andrew
I disagree, I always thought Tobey's performance was great as Spider-Man, particularly in the Peter Parker centric scenes he conveyed a lot through his eyes.

People did not like how Garfields spider-man/peter parker was written. It could have been the same character but with holland doing the performance and people would not have liked it. This is something nobody seems to be able to understand. It doesn't necessarilly matter about the actor if the writers write a character people don't like.

Personally I love ALL of them but I’ve always had a soft spot for Andrew, and Tom and Tobey always switch for me. They all do their characters differently, but Andrew is just so comic accurate it’s like eye candy
Garfield absolutely stole every scene he was in in NWH. I’ve been saying it for years, and NWH only solidified it: Garfield deserved and still deserves another movie. I know that won’t happen, but man he absolutely crushed every single thing he did

Andrew Garfield is the best actor to have played Spiderman. His performances in Silence, Hacksaw Ridge and the Social Network prove that but the writing held him back from being the best Spiderman.

I love all three of them basically equally. I think If i had to choose it would be Andrew though. He’s the funniest and most comic accurate. Also I like how they gave him redemption in NWH. I agree with the incomplete story arc but obviously that isn’t Andrews fault really. They did sort of wrap it up at NWH but still needs some work. HOPEFULLY SOMEDAY! I have to rank 'Spider-Man' and 'Peter Parker' separately. Tobey is my favorite Peter Parker, Andrew is my favorite Spider-Man, and Tom is a fair balance of both.
1. Tobey maguire: grew up with his movies, he played the perfect nerd but stepped up into a serious hero as well. He did well in emotional scene and his movies seemed to really teach you great life lessons. 2. Andrew Garfield: by far the best actor out of the 3, he showed off the great mix of humor and seriousness, nailed every scene he was in. People complain about his movies but I liked both, only reason I have him at number 2 honestly is because I feel he didn’t get enough time to really show off with only having 2 films. 3. Tom Holland: Tom is a good actor and no way home he finally got to show it but unfortunately, we only see flashes of his real serious side and his movies are way too over the top goofy for me. No way home he nailed every scene he was in but in homecoming and far from home we never got to see him be really serious it’s like the mcu makes everything out to be a comedy.
It baffles me when people think Tom Holland has "potential" for acting. I'm sorry, guy's a natural. Did people miss the "come on spider man" scene, the infinity war death scene and even that moment with Happy in the jet during ffh. Take the entirety of nwh. I think people are too used to tom holland's acting chops that they take it for granted and dismiss it. Guy can deliver expressions and lines so naturally, even has good comedic timing but then again u have to for the MCU.
Your main complaint for Tom Holland was that he was too goofy yet you put Tobey on top. Like I also think Tobey is really good but you can’t deny his movies are super corny. If you don’t like Spider-Man being goofy then just put Andrew up on top.
Nah I dont agree I think it goes Tom because of that ribble scene' and dusting scene, and aunt May's death and him sobbing and that final battle with goblin Andrew because of that gwen death scene, and uncle Ben's death Tobeys last for me because I dont remember one good scene that is emotional I rewatched all three of his movies but his crying face just comes off as a joke to me.
Respectfully disagree - Andrew is the best SPIDER-MAN ACTOR IMO - he brings so much more to this role. Perfectly encapsulates what it means to be Spider-Man; Charismatic, Nerdy, Witty, Emotive and more. I may be Bias considering I grew up with Andrew however I personally felt moved by his portrayal more than the other actors (and that’s not to say they did a bad job Tobey and Tom are FANTASTIC!).
If you watched the video, Sean said that he thinks Andrew is the best actor… But the ranking is about their Peter Parker’s characterization not the actors acting abilities

I actually appreciate his take and do relate and agree with a lot of what he is saying but I mentioned personal bias towards Andrew so respectfully I do disagree and would give Andrew No.1 place as I thought he brought more out of the ‘Peter Parker Characterisation’ than the others. Just my opinion!
I agree, I also think that in some part of the video he said they changed peter parkers character by saying he was the chosen one, tbh, that doesn't effect the actor at all its just the bad writing. I'm glad he was redeemed later. He was never a bad actor for Spider-Man/Peter Parker. P.S. I hope we see more of him, whether it be The Amazing Spider-man 3 or something different.

My list is 1. Andrew Garfield 2. Tom Holland 3. Tobey Maguire. I was never a fan of Tobey's interpretation, either in writing or acting, but I must say, NWH made me warm to him a bit more.
Like Sean said, I absolutely adore all three but if I had to rank them: 3. Maguire - A perfect rendition of Peter Parker in his first two movies, and IMO still the best encapsulation of the "friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man" aspect, but he lacks Spidey's usual wit and just turns into a bit of an arsehole in the third movie (even BEFORE he gets the black suit) 2. Garfield - A consistently brilliant Spidey, and I'll be bold and say I think his portrayal of both sides of the character in TASM2 is the _single_ greatest rendition of Peter Parker / Spider-Man in any movie to date. His only downside is that he's not quite so believable as a dorky, bottom-of-the-food-chain schoolboy in his first movie 1. Holland - As many have said before, he's a great blend of Peter / Spidey in every movie he's in. There were certainly some downsides to the character to begin with in comparison to the previous two portrayals, but the slow-burn character arc they've been going for has meant he's shown real growth in every movie, and after NWH virtually EVERY common issue people had with his version has either been improved upon or completely fixed
3. Andrew Garfield Great Modern Take an Realistic Setting Feels the most human of the 3 2. Tobey Maguire Great Classic 60s Comic Take mixed with 90s Cartoon the most relatable + my childhood 1. Tom Holland you basically watch him grow an see him start out as a naive immature teen to a smart matured grounded young man i think we will get more of a fleshed out more comic accurate spider man judging by the end of the movie an + he fought with the avengers an is the new face of the mcu Love all 3 guys tho so no hate here ❤
Let's be honest, all three Spider-Man actors are awesome and unique for different reasons. What is the point of competing which one is better when they all got a movie together and kicking ass together? No Way Home made me appreciate Andrew's Spider-Man who I used to not be a fan of in the past decade and after NWH, I wanna watch his films again.
I absolutely love them all, but after No Way Home, I would say my ranking would go: 3. Andrew Garfield 2. Tobey Maguire 1. Tom Holland I always loved Tom’s Spider-Man, but this movie truly brought him to another level with the hardships and struggles he fought through, and he really learned the lessons that Spider-Man is all about, while still being a flawed(As in is human and not perfect) fun character. This entire trilogy has spent the time slowly developing Tom’s character and I really enjoyed that, and how they ended No Way Home.
Andrew is my favorite and the best in my eyes as Peter Parker and Spider-Man. So much heart and personality with his character and I'm glad people can see just how damn good he is after NWH
I still think that tobey overall is the most comic accurate best Spider-Man their is. He has the best suit, is the most grounded, has the nostalgia, and looks exactly like what I could imagine Peter Parker would look like. That’s me tho
@@Beebooks23 I think he's the least comic-book accurate but in the best movies. His suit isn't comic book accurate, neither are his powers, and he doesn't have a lot of on-screen charisma. But he's still the one I grew up with so the nostalgia is there and Spider-Man 2 is still one of the best comic book movies of all time

Spider-Man (2002) was the first ever superhero movie I saw. It was showed to me by my parents when it came on television. I'm born of 2000, and I saw it when I was around 4-5 years old. So while Tobey's films are not the superhero films of my formative years (those are the MCU), I have a lot of nostalgia for Tobey as he was the one that was responsible for the first superhero movie I saw. I have a similar love for Christopher Reeve's Superman (the second superhero film my parents showed me, and I've loved it ever since). These are the only older superhero movies that though their dated, I love them as they were the ones I saw first. My ranking: 1) Tobey Maguire (The Spider-Man I saw first) 2) Tom Holland (technically the Spider-Man of my formative years) 3) Andrew Garfield (I respect, but a lacks a unique selling point)
As someone born in 2001, I don’t think the Raimi films are dated and I honestly think Tobey is my favorite. But I am finally realizing I do love all of these actors as Spider-Man and Peter Parker
My personal ranking is 1) Tom Holland - He’s always been the one I’ve been able to connect with the most and has had the best character arc from Homecoming to No Way Home. 2) Andrew Garfield - I’ve always liked him as Peter honestly and No Way Home just solidified that, the jokey nature of him and then when it’s an emotional moment you can really feel it. 3) Tobey Maguire - I’ve never been able to connect with him as much as the others I still like his interpretation but just think the others are better. Great for the memes though.

I loved tasm 1 and I thought even tho tasm2 was crowded and all over the place. The action, cgi, suit, and swinging scenes were the best in a spiderman movie. But agreed garfield is the best actor to play spiderman or most talented

Tom Holland (a fresh new younger version of the character who grows with his movies) 1. Tobey maguire (both him and Holland are the definition of Peter Parker/Spider-Man to me. But maguire is what made me love Peter Parker/Spider-Man;)
I love all the actors, but here is my ranking 1. Andrew: I always liked his Spider-Man the most, always felt like how a high schooler would actually act especially the car jacking scene. While I don’t think he’s Peter is the best, I really enjoy scenes where he’s making his web compound, and I feel like the other two movies have missed out on having scenes like that. He managed to capture that while dealing with something the other two didn’t, a rough script which I elevate him even more for. With equal scripts in NWH he really stole the show out of the three in my opinion. 2. Tobey: He’s the one I grew up with, and definitely the most nostalgic for. I think his Peter is the best and really captures that awkward nerd role, especially at the wrestling fight when you can tell he’s scared asf walking into the cage. I also enjoy his chemistry with MJ and Harry and his playing of the symbote Spider-Man. Although I feel like he was the least interesting in NWH, which isn’t a statement about his acting, it’s more about Tom’s and Andrew’s in that film. 3. Tom: again I love all the Spider-Men, that being said at the moment Tom is last for me. This could change depending on future movies because I really enjoyed his performance in NWH, but he’s just here now because of how much I like the other two.
I remember hearing Sean say a lot that we need a more traditional Tom Holland Spiderman story, and I agreed but I felt that there needed to be a movie that bridged from MCU Iron Man Spidey to traditional friendly neighbourhood Spiderman, maybe like a dark spy esque thriller which matured him and he finds a home in New York or something, No Way Home does this perfectly.
Personally I got Holland as 1. I like the light hearted and truly highscooler feel he gave especially combined with the fact he still had the hardest and most wild aventures of the three Spider-Man’s bc of the mcu world. Also his youngish looks and real-life/movie mannerisms and behavior are pretty similar giving it that similar feel to how rdj is basically iron man. He has a even better chance to build his character as a “adult” Spider-Man now since he has more movies and a pretty damm good setup to make it happen with how nwh ends.
In terms of just pure acting chops, Garfield is superior. He was super charming as Peter/Spider-Man but since then he's developed so much as an actor. The dude is so underappreciated.
I absolutely love all 3 of them and my list keeps changing constantly. But if I had to put them in a ranking I’d say: 1. Andrew: his movies may not be the best, but I think in nwh it really showed how good he is with better writing. Despite his movies being very mediocre, I’ve always loved his Spider-Man and thought he was the highlight of his movies. I especially love how in nwh he’s talking about how the death of Gwen affected him, and how he made his redemption by saving MJ. I would really like to see tasm 3 with marvel and Sony partnering up. You can really feel that his Spider-Man has been through a lot, yet he stays optimistic and has smile on his face. From the acting to the personality, this is a character I would love to see more from and one that I really do care about. 2. Tobey: I’ve always thought Tobey made a great Peter. He really captures the awkwardness and certain aspects of his personality. When it comes to Spider-Man, that’s where he kind of drops for me. He has a much more mature take on Spider-Man, so there’s not a lot of quippy jokes. But just the arc that this character has over the 3 movies is what makes up for it. I would say this is the Spider-Man that feels the most like Spider-Man. Of course he’s the OG and there’s a nostalgic factor as well. 3. Tom: just because Tom is last doesn’t mean I don’t love this version. The slow origin over the 3 movies makes me respect the heck out of this trilogy, and Tom starts as a boy, but ends as a man. I love Toms enthusiasm and excitement put into the role, and the only reason he’s not higher is because this is the start of a character, and the other spideys just feel a lot more character and depth right now (imo)

I grew up with Tobey Maguire Spider-Man and Tom Welling as Clark Kent/Superman. Those are still my favorites. Although I've loved pretty much every iteration of Spider-Man on film, as well as Hoechlin & Cavill as Superman! (And of course Christopher Reeves)

1. Tom Holland - No Way Home illustrated why he is the best Spider-Man. His performance was inspiring and real! Otherwise, he is the most accurate Spider-Man in terms of being a high-schooler! 2. Tobey Maguire - The classic one. His performance is great and he made the Sam Raimi films what they were! Although he is too old for the role, I think he did a great job! Tom just played the character better. His performance in No Way Home was good, but not as memorable as the other two! 3. Andrew Garfield - The best actor to play Spider-Man, but his movies were the weakest series! While he is a great Spider-Man, and his chemistry with Emma Stone is fantastic, his Peter wasn’t great! No Way Home really improved his character! He is one of the highlights. It doesn’t change that they could have done more with his Spider-Man!
Before no way home, I would have put Tobey in first but because NWH I’m having trouble deciding on all three. It made me realize that Andrew really is the best actor to play him, but the way he was written the the Amazing movies was the problem. Then all of my complaints with Tom go away because I realized all 3 movies were an origin story and that was why the first two were so lighthearted and we assumed that uncle Ben had the bigger influence on him but he wasn’t living up to him until we realized aunt may is really his influence to be Spider-Man. So now I just think they are all #1 because of different things.
Tobey will always be my favorite. I grew up on that trilogy and I still adore it to this day, and in my eyes he's always been Spider-Man. Sure his movies don't hold up all that well, but like you said he has the most complete arch of them all. I literally cried when I saw him return.

I'm surprised many youtubers never mention the original Spiderman actor Nicholas Hammond from the 70's TV series The Amazing Spiderman. For its time it was a great show.
Objectively speaking, Andrew Garfield is the best actor out of the three and is also the most established. He has been in some of the best movies of the 2010s and has worked with the best directors. He has won a Tony award and has been nominated for an oscar. I find it appalling that people are placing him in last place compared to the other actors. This is a ranking of performances not movies.

The chosen one destiny thing works with Anakin, since he literally was a an answer from the force to defeat the sith... but not for Spider-Man since it was only chance that he got the spider-powers and it could have been anyone else, but it was peter.

Let me say it was so great to see all 3 on screen portraying Spider-Man. No matter you’re favorite actor/portrayal, it’s very easy to find joy and excitement in all 3. My favorite is Tobey and I think he’s perfect for the role of Spider-Man and I’m not taking anything away from the other two. I just relate and pull for him in a way I don’t for the other two. Tom Holland would be 2nd for me due to No Way Home, I was finally able to see the character come full circle and the emotion and depth of the character rather than the high school Phase of him. I am truly excited to see where they go next with him if he continues to portray Spider-Man on the big screen. Last but not least is Andrew Garfield, I’m not a fan of this version of Peter Parker, his Spider-Man is fine but ultimately suffers from it in my opinion. I don’t like the “small knives” scene and (unpopular opinion) think it’s not the Spider-Man I know or want to watch. Andrew is a phenomenal actor with incredible talent for making you feel emotions, he was a lot of fun in Spider-Man no way home.
I respectfully disagree, Andrew Garfield is my favorite spider-man personally. I grew up with the Raimi trilogy so Tobey will always be special to me and Tom did an amazing job in NWH but it's taken until now for him to really feel like Spidey to me. Andrew will always be my favourite! I find him the most relatable, accurate and fun Peter/Spiderman to watch and really hope Sony and Marvel do the right thing and bring him back for as much as possible!!

For many years my ranking was 3. Tobey Maguire 2. Andrew Garfield 1. Tom Holland But now rewatching all the movies for No Way Home my ranking is: 3. Andrew Garfield: I think it's more good actor to play a character like Peter parker than Tobey but the script that gave him to play is not as good as 2. Tobey Maguire: Years ago I was like He's playing great but he looks like a 30 year old guy. Now I think that back in 2002 was very difficult to find a young actor to play Peter Parker, and I think if they chose Tobey they really know what their doing. Tom Holland: I never hate him otherwise from his first movie Civil War I though his is the best Spider-Man/Peter Parker. The reason is simple Spider-Man always was funny or more like a "kid" and not so powerful like Iron Man etc. So I think Tom Holland give us the best performance as an youngest Peter Parker and in the whole "Home" trilogy we have so many scenes that proove us that he is SPIDER-MAN.

For me…. 1. Tobey 2. Andrew 3. Tom It’s only after the ending of NWH that time now feels like Spider-Man. That being said I’m now very optimistic about the future of his Spider-Man as long as they keep going in that direction at the end of NWH.
I might be biased towards Andrew Garfields Spider-Man because I grew up watching his movies, but I think he is the best Spider-Man and had the most engaging movies
As someone born in 2000, I kind of grew up with all of them. I saw the Raimi movies countless times as a kid and into the present, was 12 when Amazing Spider-Man came out and 16 when Tom Holland's Spider-Man first appeared in the MCU. They all hold a special place in my heart.
Here’s my very controversial list: 3. Tobey Maguire. I would probably appreciate him more if I were born earlier. 2. Andrew Garfield. Amazing Peter Parker, train wreck movie. 1. Tom Holland. This is the stuff.

Before I had 1.Tobey 2. Tom Andrew. Now. Tom is way closer to 1 I feel like he has 1 more solid performance and he is def 1 actually I keep changing between Tobey and Tom and Andrew AHHHHHHH
I love all three, but Andrew is the best Spider Man hands down, and that's been the talk on twitter after NWH. He stole the film, he embodies everything Spider Man is. People hold his second film against him, but the film is not as bad as some people make it out to be and he was flawless in both. Tobey is the nostalgic choice, Tom is the perfect teenage Spider Man that is learning to become Spider Man.
My ranking of Spider-Man 1. Andrew: As a kid born in the late 2000's I grow up with him and I think he was played Spider-Man the best and his emotions and comedy is Amazing 2. Tom: He is pretty good but I think he gets carried by the many people helping him out because he is in the MCU, but I think overall he is a good Spider-Man 3. Tobey: He is a weird Spider-Man, he isn't even all that funny. I also don't like how his webs come out of his wrists My ranking of Peter Parker 1. Tobey: He was first Peter so he got to be the "classic" Peter and as Peter, he is funny and has many memorable moments. I think Harry and MJ are pretty good with his Peter 2. Tom: I like his high school life, where the other 2 are in high school for only a bit and I like Ned, MJ and Aunt May bringing a lot and making this Peter pretty good 3. Andrew: He is a ok Peter, I don't like him trying to solve a mystery about his parent but him and Gwen are AMAZING. But I feel like he isn't Peter and I just think he is just some kinda loner and not nerd. Overall I think Andrew is the best followed by Tom then Tobey. I think he deserves a 3rd chance with maybe with a Spider-Man vs Venom?

Personally I loved the slow burn of Tom’s Spidey. More personal development and allowed me to get invested in not only his world, but his connection to the MCU overall. It was brilliant to give him everything only for it to be taken away (or just given up by him in the end) so that his life can progress. Letting the boy die so the man can live. Brilliant!
And NWH proves that his journey is only just beginning. The next trilogy is when we see him when he's actually Spider-Man, that'll be so nice to see.

Personally I love the idea that the entirety of the next trilogy should be building up to a handover: the first movie is Peter having to go it alone against a new threat (most likely Scorpion) while Miles is introduced and gets his bite; the second is Peter training Miles as a sidekick; and the third is the passing of the torch
In terms of raw pure acting talent it has to easily go to Andrew Garfield, his performance in hacksaw ridge elevated him to goat status. As an upcoming actor, Tom Holland probably has the biggest potential and is incredible in the role of Spider-Man. Tobey, I’m my opinion, has a good performance in some movies and then not so good performances in others (Spider-Man being a mediocre acting performance). Tobey has a brilliant performance in the film brothers but overall I have to give it to Andrew
I disagree, I always thought Tobey's performance was great as Spider-Man, particularly in the Peter Parker centric scenes he conveyed a lot through his eyes.

1. Tobey maguire: grew up with his movies, he played the perfect nerd but stepped up into a serious hero as well. He did well in emotional scene and his movies seemed to really teach you great life lessons.
2. Andrew Garfield: by far the best actor out of the 3, he showed off the great mix of humor and seriousness, nailed every scene he was in. People complain about his movies but I liked both, only reason I have him at number 2 honestly is because I feel he didn’t get enough time to really show off with only having 2 films.
3. Tom Holland: Tom is a good actor and no way home he finally got to show it but unfortunately, we only see flashes of his real serious side and his movies are way too over the top goofy for me. No way home he nailed every scene he was in but in homecoming and far from home we never got to see him be really serious it’s like the mcu makes everything out to be a comedy.
It baffles me when people think Tom Holland has "potential" for acting. I'm sorry, guy's a natural. Did people miss the "come on spider man" scene, the infinity war death scene and even that moment with Happy in the jet during ffh. Take the entirety of nwh. I think people are too used to tom holland's acting chops that they take it for granted and dismiss it. Guy can deliver expressions and lines so naturally, even has good comedic timing but then again u have to for the MCU.
Your main complaint for Tom Holland was that he was too goofy yet you put Tobey on top. Like I also think Tobey is really good but you can’t deny his movies are super corny. If you don’t like Spider-Man being goofy then just put Andrew up on top.

Respectfully disagree - Andrew is the best SPIDER-MAN ACTOR IMO - he brings so much more to this role. Perfectly encapsulates what it means to be Spider-Man; Charismatic, Nerdy, Witty, Emotive and more. I may be Bias considering I grew up with Andrew however I personally felt moved by his portrayal more than the other actors (and that’s not to say they did a bad job Tobey and Tom are FANTASTIC!).
If you watched the video, Sean said that he thinks Andrew is the best actor… But the ranking is about their Peter Parker’s characterization not the actors acting abilities

I agree, I also think that in some part of the video he said they changed peter parkers character by saying he was the chosen one, tbh, that doesn't effect the actor at all its just the bad writing. I'm glad he was redeemed later. He was never a bad actor for Spider-Man/Peter Parker.

Like Sean said, I absolutely adore all three but if I had to rank them:
3. Maguire - A perfect rendition of Peter Parker in his first two movies, and IMO still the best encapsulation of the "friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man" aspect, but he lacks Spidey's usual wit and just turns into a bit of an arsehole in the third movie (even BEFORE he gets the black suit)
2. Garfield - A consistently brilliant Spidey, and I'll be bold and say I think his portrayal of both sides of the character in TASM2 is the _single_ greatest rendition of Peter Parker / Spider-Man in any movie to date. His only downside is that he's not quite so believable as a dorky, bottom-of-the-food-chain schoolboy in his first movie
1. Holland - As many have said before, he's a great blend of Peter / Spidey in every movie he's in. There were certainly some downsides to the character to begin with in comparison to the previous two portrayals, but the slow-burn character arc they've been going for has meant he's shown real growth in every movie, and after NWH virtually EVERY common issue people had with his version has either been improved upon or completely fixed

I always loved Tom’s Spider-Man, but this movie truly brought him to another level with the hardships and struggles he fought through, and he really learned the lessons that Spider-Man is all about, while still being a flawed(As in is human and not perfect) fun character. This entire trilogy has spent the time slowly developing Tom’s character and I really enjoyed that, and how they ended No Way Home.

Spider-Man (2002) was the first ever superhero movie I saw. It was showed to me by my parents when it came on television. I'm born of 2000, and I saw it when I was around 4-5 years old. So while Tobey's films are not the superhero films of my formative years (those are the MCU), I have a lot of nostalgia for Tobey as he was the one that was responsible for the first superhero movie I saw. I have a similar love for Christopher Reeve's Superman (the second superhero film my parents showed me, and I've loved it ever since). These are the only older superhero movies that though their dated, I love them as they were the ones I saw first.
My ranking:
1) Tobey Maguire (The Spider-Man I saw first)
2) Tom Holland (technically the Spider-Man of my formative years)

3) Tobey Maguire - I’ve never been able to connect with him as much as the others I still like his interpretation but just think the others are better. Great for the memes though.

I love all the actors, but here is my ranking
1. Andrew: I always liked his Spider-Man the most, always felt like how a high schooler would actually act especially the car jacking scene. While I don’t think he’s Peter is the best, I really enjoy scenes where he’s making his web compound, and I feel like the other two movies have missed out on having scenes like that. He managed to capture that while dealing with something the other two didn’t, a rough script which I elevate him even more for. With equal scripts in NWH he really stole the show out of the three in my opinion.
2. Tobey: He’s the one I grew up with, and definitely the most nostalgic for. I think his Peter is the best and really captures that awkward nerd role, especially at the wrestling fight when you can tell he’s scared asf walking into the cage. I also enjoy his chemistry with MJ and Harry and his playing of the symbote Spider-Man. Although I feel like he was the least interesting in NWH, which isn’t a statement about his acting, it’s more about Tom’s and Andrew’s in that film.
3. Tom: again I love all the Spider-Men, that being said at the moment Tom is last for me. This could change depending on future movies because I really enjoyed his performance in NWH, but he’s just here now because of how much I like the other two.
I remember hearing Sean say a lot that we need a more traditional Tom Holland Spiderman story, and I agreed but I felt that there needed to be a movie that bridged from MCU Iron Man Spidey to traditional friendly neighbourhood Spiderman, maybe like a dark spy esque thriller which matured him and he finds a home in New York or something, No Way Home does this perfectly.
Personally I got Holland as 1. I like the light hearted and truly highscooler feel he gave especially combined with the fact he still had the hardest and most wild aventures of the three Spider-Man’s bc of the mcu world. Also his youngish looks and real-life/movie mannerisms and behavior are pretty similar giving it that similar feel to how rdj is basically iron man.
He has a even better chance to build his character as a “adult” Spider-Man now since he has more movies and a pretty damm good setup to make it happen with how nwh ends.

In terms of just pure acting chops, Garfield is superior. He was super charming as Peter/Spider-Man but since then he's developed so much as an actor. The dude is so underappreciated.

I absolutely love all 3 of them and my list keeps changing constantly. But if I had to put them in a ranking I’d say:
1. Andrew: his movies may not be the best, but I think in nwh it really showed how good he is with better writing. Despite his movies being very mediocre, I’ve always loved his Spider-Man and thought he was the highlight of his movies. I especially love how in nwh he’s talking about how the death of Gwen affected him, and how he made his redemption by saving MJ. I would really like to see tasm 3 with marvel and Sony partnering up. You can really feel that his Spider-Man has been through a lot, yet he stays optimistic and has smile on his face. From the acting to the personality, this is a character I would love to see more from and one that I really do care about.
2. Tobey: I’ve always thought Tobey made a great Peter. He really captures the awkwardness and certain aspects of his personality. When it comes to Spider-Man, that’s where he kind of drops for me. He has a much more mature take on Spider-Man, so there’s not a lot of quippy jokes. But just the arc that this character has over the 3 movies is what makes up for it. I would say this is the Spider-Man that feels the most like Spider-Man. Of course he’s the OG and there’s a nostalgic factor as well.
3. Tom: just because Tom is last doesn’t mean I don’t love this version. The slow origin over the 3 movies makes me respect the heck out of this trilogy, and Tom starts as a boy, but ends as a man. I love Toms enthusiasm and excitement put into the role, and the only reason he’s not higher is because this is the start of a character, and the other spideys just feel a lot more character and depth right now (imo)

I grew up with Tobey Maguire Spider-Man and Tom Welling as Clark Kent/Superman. Those are still my favorites. Although I've loved pretty much every iteration of Spider-Man on film, as well as Hoechlin & Cavill as Superman! (And of course Christopher Reeves)

1. Tom Holland - No Way Home illustrated why he is the best Spider-Man. His performance was inspiring and real! Otherwise, he is the most accurate Spider-Man in terms of being a high-schooler!
2. Tobey Maguire - The classic one. His performance is great and he made the Sam Raimi films what they were! Although he is too old for the role, I think he did a great job! Tom just played the character better. His performance in No Way Home was good, but not as memorable as the other two!
3. Andrew Garfield - The best actor to play Spider-Man, but his movies were the weakest series! While he is a great Spider-Man, and his chemistry with Emma Stone is fantastic, his Peter wasn’t great! No Way Home really improved his character! He is one of the highlights. It doesn’t change that they could have done more with his Spider-Man!
Before no way home, I would have put Tobey in first but because NWH I’m having trouble deciding on all three. It made me realize that Andrew really is the best actor to play him, but the way he was written the the Amazing movies was the problem. Then all of my complaints with Tom go away because I realized all 3 movies were an origin story and that was why the first two were so lighthearted and we assumed that uncle Ben had the bigger influence on him but he wasn’t living up to him until we realized aunt may is really his influence to be Spider-Man. So now I just think they are all #1 because of different things.

Tobey will always be my favorite. I grew up on that trilogy and I still adore it to this day, and in my eyes he's always been Spider-Man. Sure his movies don't hold up all that well, but like you said he has the most complete arch of them all.

I'm surprised many youtubers never mention the original Spiderman actor Nicholas Hammond from the 70's TV series The Amazing Spiderman. For its time it was a great show.

Objectively speaking, Andrew Garfield is the best actor out of the three and is also the most established. He has been in some of the best movies of the 2010s and has worked with the best directors. He has won a Tony award and has been nominated for an oscar. I find it appalling that people are placing him in last place compared to the other actors. This is a ranking of performances not movies.

The chosen one destiny thing works with Anakin, since he literally was a an answer from the force to defeat the sith... but not for Spider-Man since it was only chance that he got the spider-powers and it could have been anyone else, but it was peter.

Let me say it was so great to see all 3 on screen portraying Spider-Man. No matter you’re favorite actor/portrayal, it’s very easy to find joy and excitement in all 3. My favorite is Tobey and I think he’s perfect for the role of Spider-Man and I’m not taking anything away from the other two. I just relate and pull for him in a way I don’t for the other two.
Tom Holland would be 2nd for me due to No Way Home, I was finally able to see the character come full circle and the emotion and depth of the character rather than the high school Phase of him. I am truly excited to see where they go next with him if he continues to portray Spider-Man on the big screen.
Last but not least is Andrew Garfield, I’m not a fan of this version of Peter Parker, his Spider-Man is fine but ultimately suffers from it in my opinion. I don’t like the “small knives” scene and (unpopular opinion) think it’s not the Spider-Man I know or want to watch. Andrew is a phenomenal actor with incredible talent for making you feel emotions, he was a lot of fun in Spider-Man no way home.
I respectfully disagree, Andrew Garfield is my favorite spider-man personally. To me, he feels the most realistic out of all the Spider-Men, in the choices he makes to stay with Gwen at the end of the first TASM, and the goofy attitude he brings to the table with all his quips and banter with the villains. Love the list though Sean, great video as always!

I grew up with the Raimi trilogy so Tobey will always be special to me and Tom did an amazing job in NWH but it's taken until now for him to really feel like Spidey to me. Andrew will always be my favourite! I find him the most relatable, accurate and fun Peter/Spiderman to watch and really hope Sony and Marvel do the right thing and bring him back for as much as possible!!

Now I think that back in 2002 was very difficult to find a young actor to play Peter Parker, and I think if they chose Tobey they really know what their doing. I liked all the way from Peter parker how he became Spider-Man and Tobey give as a good performance.
1. Tom Holland: I never hate him otherwise from his first movie Civil War I though his is the best Spider-Man/Peter Parker. The reason is simple Spider-Man always was funny or more like a "kid" and not so powerful like Iron Man etc. So I think Tom Holland give us the best performance as an youngest Peter Parker and in the whole "Home" trilogy we have so many scenes that proove us that he is SPIDER-MAN.
I grew up loving the original trilogy, but after recently watching it, and it being obvious it’s adults playing kids in the movie kinda takes me out of it. Tom’s and Andrew’s acting is on another level. Also surprised you didn’t add the spider verse characters to this

As someone born in 2000, I kind of grew up with all of them. I saw the Raimi movies countless times as a kid and into the present, was 12 when Amazing Spider-Man came out and 16 when Tom Holland's Spider-Man first appeared in the MCU. They all hold a special place in my heart.

Before I had
1.Tobey 2. Tom Andrew. Now. Tom is way closer to 1 I feel like he has 1 more solid performance and he is def 1 actually I keep changing between Tobey and Tom and Andrew AHHHHHHH
I love all three, but Andrew is the best Spider Man hands down, and that's been the talk on twitter after NWH. He stole the film, he embodies everything Spider Man is. People hold his second film against him, but the film is not as bad as some people make it out to be and he was flawless in both. Tobey is the nostalgic choice, Tom is the perfect teenage Spider Man that is learning to become Spider Man.

1. Andrew: As a kid born in the late 2000's I grow up with him and I think he was played Spider-Man the best and his emotions and comedy is Amazing
2. Tom: He is pretty good but I think he gets carried by the many people helping him out because he is in the MCU, but I think overall he is a good Spider-Man
3. Tobey: He is a weird Spider-Man, he isn't even all that funny. I also don't like how his webs come out of his wrists

1. Tobey: He was first Peter so he got to be the "classic" Peter and as Peter, he is funny and has many memorable moments. I think Harry and MJ are pretty good with his Peter
2. Tom: I like his high school life, where the other 2 are in high school for only a bit and I like Ned, MJ and Aunt May bringing a lot and making this Peter pretty good
3. Andrew: He is a ok Peter, I don't like him trying to solve a mystery about his parent but him and Gwen are AMAZING. But I feel like he isn't Peter and I just think he is just some kinda loner and not nerd.
Overall I think Andrew is the best followed by Tom then Tobey. I think he deserves a 3rd chance with maybe with a Spider-Man vs Venom?
