If they’ve bothered I believed they could still reopen this case and carry on with their investigation work. Many unsolved murder cases in US and Japan had been reopened after many years and the culprits successfully apprehended. Please reopen this case. The kids were truly innocent.

my mum told me about this story while watching the tv with her.
The common belief at the time, the uncle is the killer.
The parents of the 4 children runs a private lottery syndicate. The uncle bet on the private lottery and his number win. But the parent claim they did not receive his bet.
months later the parents actually bought a bus and start running a transportation business. So the general belief is the parents cheated the uncle's money and the uncle carry out the murder.
This sounds the most probable tbh.
That so-called uncle is the malaysian neighbour. It was reported that malaysian neighbour often enter their flat unit to borrow their phone and whenever the 4 kids see this malaysian neighbour, they called him uncle.

There is either somebody who knows exactly who the murderer or murderers are or absolutely no one who knows. Both are equally terrifying.

The only thing that i think can be absolutely sure is that its definitely someone that they know, had been brought up to the house before, and knows their working schedule.
- It must be someone they know that had been brought up to their house before (be it for a moment only or not) for the murderer to know the venue of the parent's house. unless they stalked them.
- It must be someone one of the kid who usually opens the door reconise (possibly the eldest?) for the kid to not make a loud fuss enough to alert the neighbors (unless he is threatened and too speechless, or the neighbor that heard them didnt say anything)
- For someone to come so specifically during the timing in between the kids' parents went to work and the mother to call the kids awake to do the deed, definitely it is someone that knows the parent's normal daily schedule. The person definitely knows that all 4 kids is in the house during that time as they all have either nursery or schools to attend.
As much as its possible for it to be a random attack, the fact that there is no other case around the same block happening, i believe its a very targeted attack towards the family. Its not robbery after all so its definitely not accidental. The kids are all stacked specifically as well. Its very calculatedly planned.
PLEASE REOPEN THIS CASE. Even if the culprit could be dead by now, its better to have cases solved anyways. Check the nature around them, the people in the family, friends, workers they're close with.
I am sure the parents know who the murderer is. If is someone whom they know, i guess it is very easy to guess and narrow down the suspects, especially someone who they had angered that much to take such revenge, probably threatened them.
@@yokchew90 yes i agree that theres a high chance that the parents knew who the murderer is. If not it is weird that up to this date, their family did not pursue this case at all. Like not even with papers or go on sites, etc etc. I know some of them is not legal to do in sg but as a grieving parent, they would have went f*** it and done it cus they don wan ALL 4 OF THEIR children's name to just be wiped from the earth like this with the murderer out at large. I was wondering too if the children has insurance on them and that the parents hired someone to do it or sth (i sure hope not).
In my opinion, The authorities has a responsibility to answer to the public as well if the parents want to continue this search for answers or not too as they did made it a country wide uproar at one point. But i understand too, that its the family's choice i guess.
after watching the video, my gut feelings were that the innocent children died for the sins of their parents, the manner the children were killed showed the killer was filled with hate and revenge and this feeling must have eaten him for days, weeks or months so that led him to carry out his revenge, only the parents knew what had gone wrong, very sad the murders went unresolved.
Never forgotten that day, it was school week break! This case was spoken about regularly. My father never let me out of his sight and had me locked in our home as he left for work. All my neighbourhood friends were in the same predicament.
It was a very simple case to solve but yet remain unsolved. If I was the investigating officer back then, I would have focused all my effort and resources on the PARENT.

Highly is because of the illegal lottery, so now, the mum is the lone survivor now, why not reveal who is this perpetrator instead, I know ya close to 80 years old, do one last favour to reveal the truth so as to seek justice for your 4 children.. the public would wanna know the truth as well...

I used to live a couple of blocks in front and I was about three at Block 64. Of course, I didn't know about it till years last when I was in Secondary School. I remember the block was very very dark. You know the type where the corridors were really dark and and the only lights were at the end of the corridors. All I could recall was my parents told me not to get near the block. I had no idea why.
Today, the block was gone and there was a new one at the site.
My deepest sympathy to those 4 child victims and may God bless them in peace. Shock to know about this sad and scary crime case, hope the culprit can be caught regardless of the number of years to come by. Last but not least this case is about 42 years ago, I wonder the murderer or murderers are still alive ?
If that murders kill the 4 childs in 1979 that means the murders in 2022 they are old/dead

In this 1979 Geylang Bahru murder case, is very obvious that malaysian neighbour is the murderer. The circumstantial evidence is very strong.
1)No forced sign of entry, hence must be someone known to the murdered children.
2)The murderer knows that on 3 days from Mondays to Fridays every week, an elderly woman will be along the corridor washing her hair during the early hours of morning and he chose a day that the old woman does not wash her hair along the corridor to commit the murder, this proves the murderer is a resident in that same block.
3)The kid's parents left the house at 6.30am and by 7.10am another neighbour came to knock the door, hence the time for the murderer to commit the murder and wash himself off the blood stains is very short, hence again proving the murderer should be someone staying in that same block.
4)A taxi driver correctly identified the malaysian neighbour with bloodstains in his clothes and a knife banging against his taxi door on the same day that the murder occured.
I think in Singapore in the 1960s and 1980s also got another 2 case whereby the murderer was charged with murder based solely on circumstantial evidence.
This 1979 Geylang Bahru murder case the circumstantial evidence is very strong, hence it is very strange why that IO handling this murder case release that malaysian neighbour after the taxi-driver already correctly identified him out at the police station.
My personal guess is and I want to emphasize this is my personal guess, My personal guess is why the IO release the malaysian neighbour was becos the IO himself was also a malaysian-chinese or he himself was a former malaysian-chinese that migrated to singapore and maybe he was reluctant to detain and proceed to charge the malaysian-chinese guy for murder based solely on circumstantial evidence and his thinking maybe was to release the malaysian first until if more physical evidence surface then go arrest him again.
Because throughout the past thirty-plus years, I got came across some singaporean-chinese that are born in malaysia or ex-malaysians, and many of these ex-malaysians/malaysia-born singaporean-chinese are very defensive and very biased towards those malaysian-chinese that had committed evil acts or offences or crimes in singapore.
The circumstantial evidence in this 1979 Geylang Bahru murder case is very strong, pointing to the malaysian neighbour as the murderer. The IO handling this case should not had released the malaysian neighbour. The IO made a mistake.
The IO should had proceeded to charge the malaysian neighbour for murder based on the very strong circumstantial evidence and should not had released the malaysian.
I think in Singapore there are 2 other cases in 1980s and 1960s whereby the murderers are charged for murder based only on circumstantial evidences only.
And it was later revealed the malaysian neighbour moved out from the block and returned to malaysia.

Sadly,nobody wants to handle these old cases anymore.Cold and old cases are usually not investigated anymore.A lot of IOs and OCs just want to handle new cases.

For witnesses, the best witness should of been the neighbor who knocked on the door at 8am.
If she really did go knock & did indeed try to wake the kids up, then she should of been standing at the door for more than few minutes. Did she hear anything inside? Did she notice any blood stains on door?

I feel that the CNY card is a telling piece of evidence. Was it ever sent to the police for analysis? I wonder why the show didn't elaborate much on the card.
They could use this to match the handwriting and find the suspect, as well as find out which store it is bought from, find the number of stocks the store has for this card (which can lead to the number of buyers) and lastly, we can get the suspect
Those days without CCTVs hard to solve many murder cases, i think mostly these murderers fled to thailand, malaysia or indonesia
They can escape from Law, but after when the murder passed away, he/she will face terrible punishment.

我个人认为如果家里没有值钱的东西不见，那很可能是仇杀。也有可能是孩子们认识的熟人，所以需要杀人灭口。很好奇的是凶手是需要要一个一个杀害，四个孩子为什么会没有发出求救？邻居没有听到任何可疑的声音吗？如果凶手是临时起意杀人，由于80多刀的屠杀，凶手很可能会因为血液溜滑不小心割到自己的手，尤其是握凶刀的手的虎口 会有割上，当天的药房或者医院有没有可疑人士去治疗手部割伤呢？如果凶手有伤口，凶手使用的凶器上也会留下凶手的血液。四名死者的指甲之中有没有留下凶手的DNA?凶手离开前一定会在洗手盆洗干净自己的手和留下自己的血液DNA。在砍杀个孩子的动作不可能没有大面积的血液喷溅，尤其是凶手的身上，难道凶手是换了衣服才离开吗？当年死者的衣物或者证物还有没有留在证物室可以重新拿来化验？当年房子里有没有做指纹采证？

During those days, glue sniffing and drug addict was common. After inhaling of glue or consumption of drug, these people could have lost their mind and committed the act. The police, professionals and experts could have missed out on this.

Um how tho? They are still stuck with the photographs of the scene of that time that would probably be long faded (old photo). Any information that modern technology can take advantage of (DNA, Fingerprint,) would've long been gone. Probably no security footages as well cos 1979, and if they could solve this case now, no reason they couldn't solve it in 1979. There were just too less information.
Problem is nothing from murderer left at the scene. So nothing to compare with

-Moved to another country
Did the police not record the fingerprints of the suspects and the suspect's letter mocking the victims' family? I just guess that it was due to the incompetence of the police in the 70s. How to imagine they couldn't find the suspect in a tiny space in Singapore especially when the news was circulated nationwide.
They should have kept the strands of hair...they can do the dna test now.....
Those objects with blood stains too, and the whole tab handle for finger print check too, wondering where are those object gone.
They don't know about DNA in the past, so they had no reason to keep it. Same with fingerprints.

I just watched the documentary regards to the case. 1979 I was just 6 years old now 48. Didn't know there are such cases in Singapore. The murderer must be old or died or fled to other countries. It's like finding a Neddle in a hay stack to solve it in other words cold case are not easy. My blessings to all the 4 victims 🙏. They are killed and I strongly believed they all now in heaven with their dad.

There would be unsolved murder cases from 2022 too and if they were to hold off other cases just to solve this, it would be tough on the police and the victim. Thus it makes sense that they can only talk about it while not actually solving it. It was decades ago and DNA technology has not advanced yet and thus it's unsolved. They should not demolised the Blk 58, as they may traces of evidence as we move towards the future. They should have left the Blk 58 and NOT demolished it. Evidence is being destroyed with the demolished of Blk 58
Conduct thorough checks on the few old joes who eagerly waved the criminal volunteer aside without even hoping to be seen on cameras as she was conducting interviews. They could be prime suspects or witnesses. Anyway, do you expect the killer if still alive today to be a young hunk? So don’t rule out any possibilities of a grey-haired elder sitting at kopitiam. Jokes aside. I believed their parents had a reason to close this case while investigations were still in process then. They had a part with it and it’s clear they had offended someone they shouldn’t and their children paid the price. Had they pursued on the police would probably have gotten more leads. Do not forget it was still in the 70s where secret societies were rife and policemen could be easily bribed.
Yes, I think is time for the mother to tell the difficulties or truth to the police, now she is 70s years old, this could be the last chance to turn the tide.

Who was the killer with a black t-shirt and black long pants? why did he killed 4 children in year 1979? is there is a reason what caused this to happen or not?
Really heart break to see this, especially when the murder happened on children. It's hard to find the culprit since it happened years back without concrete evidence.
