Before I say anything, these views do not represent my own, I am just saying what I know about people who like the Taliban who are not Afghan. Many people like the Taliban because they stand against western culture and imperialism; a lot of people do not like the modern America-centric world that is based around what they view as superficial hedonism and worship of money and popularity that pop culture glorifies. They think that this will lead to a society where everyone does what feels good to them without regard to their neighbor, Allah/God/gods, and moral standards. The Taliban and Al Qaeda were formed(at least in theory) with a major goal of ensuring American pop culture stays out of the middle east(for al Qaeda) and Afghanistan(Taliban) as with the fall of the Soviet Union, the United States could basically do whatever it wanted in the world and many Muslims witnessed what happened to South Korea and Japan and viewed it with horror as American culture became dominate in those countries and completely reshape society. They saw American pop culture reduce Christianity from the core of western society to a dying community(this part is actually true, any statistic will show the rapid fall of Christianity in the west in the past 30 years). They believed they were going to be next unless they took a stand and they thought they had to do what it takes to protect their way of life. Islam was the only thing that made life worth living to them. And they won… at least for now. Hopefully that explains it and once again, these beliefs are not my own, only those of pro-Taliban people based on what I know. Al Qaeda is too extreme for even many of these extreme people so the Taliban are more popular. DAESH(ISIS) is not based on these ideas and wants simply world domination.
The so called "Islamic Emirate of Afghamistan" is not recognized as the real Afghanistan but an Islamist regime imposing itself illegitimately on Afghanistan. RIP Afghanistan 2004-2021
