At work we just tow a piece of chain link fence behind the asphalt roller with a bunch of bricks on top the mesh. I also recalled we used a piece of wood (off a pallet) at the front of the fence so it helped hold shape.

Best power rake video I've seen so far. Question I have is this. How would you rake perpendicular along a newly installed in ground swimming pool? I'm trying to avoid a retaining wall since it's not a steep slope and plan to regrade next to the length of the pool. The slope goes up about 12-15 inches for about 10 ft then levels off for about 20 ft to the property line. Can I use a power rake to create one nice smaller slope from property line to the edge of the pool decking? Or do I need a skid steer to do most of the moving?

Great video. Please can you explain what you meant by your comment that the rake was always doing a wheelie with a wheeled machine? Was that a wheeled skid steer or a tractor? I have ordered an 8 foot rake for a 50hp tractor, mainly I have large fields but will have some yard work to do. Perhaps you meant that with a tractor the 3 point is light and the rake lifts itself up when it hits hard ground, but maybe I could add iron weights to the 3 point to stop the rake lifting up. I like the idea of using a tractor going froward as that way the rake removes the tractor wheel marks.

The machine I have is a NH L175. It's a 2006 and according to the manufacturer it doesn't have a float mode.(we bought it used and it didn't come with a manual). Will this attachment still work properly with out being used in float mode??
do you have hand or foot controls? with either control, just move the pedal or hand control that lowers the boom and mash it harder and it should move further into float mode.
I noticed that Edge has a power rake that does not have a chain drive. It has hydraulic motors on both sides of the drum. Do you think that is a better design or does it really matter?
I think that is a much worse design. That drum is in the dirt all day. Do you want a hydraulic motor in the dirt all day as well? I like this rake because it keeps the important expensive parts out of harms way. Id rather replace the chain every 8 years rather than the hydraulic motor.
Another opinion..I've run hydraulic motors on a lot of different machines which were exposed to pretty extreme conditions - rock crushers, combines and various other ag equipment, lots of construction equipment, etc. Problems I've seen have mostly to do with internal failure or taking a direct hit from something much bigger. Internal pressures tend to hold contamination at bay, and timely maintenance (especially filters) take care of what does enter the system, which happens more from poor practices adding fluid than dirt entering through lines and housings. I very much agree with keeping power units clear of harsh conditions, tho, and it's more than possible that dirt could enter the system through the drive/drum interface. Disclaimer - I own a Bobcat soil conditioner running on my A300, which does utilize a hydraulic motor on the drum. I chose that unit because of the compatibility with my 7-pin connector, but also because of the hydraulic drive.

No it still works just fine. We used to use ours on a wheeled machine before we got a track machine. I have just found that it works a lot better and you don't have to go over areas as much with a track machine. It will work just fine for driveways with your machine, don't worry!

I ended up needing a retaining wall about 2 ft high. Rented a walk behind power rake to finish some grading before laying sod and it worked well.

I'm not sure but I think he meant that when he lowered the rake, it would pick up the front tires of a wheeled skid.

DimmerMan13 Yes it will. You will just have to go slower and make the adjustments manually. If your machine is a 2006 it should have float.

Wide open. You want maximum hydraulic output to this attachment.

+bcflys It will work just fine. You will want to spread the pile out first. Make a bunch of little piles and then run over it with the harley rake.
