I’m still deciding if I’m gonna sell my xf16-55 f2.8 and xf90 f2 just to have xf50 f1.0 I don’t know if it’s worth it :( what do you guys think 🤔 shall I sell it for 1 lens?
Two questions, what f stop did you shoot this video in, you mentioned f1, but the focus a pretty sharp throughout the entire medium close so I’m not sure. Second, did you shoot this video with autofocus and if so what settings?
Good video! I notice when you call f/1 potentially too shallow for DoF you show some closely framed portraits, and I think that’s certainly true for headshots and probably even half body shots. However, in full body shots I think this lens (or full-frame f/1.4) shines wide open and gives you optimal subject isolation.
6:43 it Is not too wide open in terms of bokeh, it equal with f1.5 in fullframe cencor which I always shoot at f1.2 in fullframe for portrait, and some people use canon 50mm f1.0 for portrait as well
it's actually closer to f1.2 in terms of depth of field if you use 35mm format ("full frame") as the standard of measurement. The difference between aps-c and 35mm depth of field is roughly half a stop, not a linear multiplication of 1.5. So 1.0 is like 1.2, and 2.0 is like 2.4, and 4 is like 4.8, and 8 is like 9.5, etc.
AJ hahahah good luck with that, but I am not agree with your statement. I have both system, if you compare f1.4 fuji with fullframe f2 for example, you will notice f2 in fullframe has more depth of field than f1.4 fuji crop. I am not tested 1.0 yet, but for your reference, you can compare f1.0 fuji with 30 years old canon 50mm f1.0 and see how depth it is
Chirag Parikh Fujifilm has a 1.5x crop. Just multiply the aperture times the crop factor of the camera. Every manufacture is different. Like Canon usually has a 1.6x crop factor.
@@Peaceofwildlifetx i think the 1.5x crop is to be multiplied with focal length only, not for arriving at an equivalent aperture, but i am getting slightly confused here, i knew but forgot why it is f/1.55 & not f/1.5 precisely ... will come back later to reply if i remember the formula i used to calculate & how i arrived at that figure. Anyways thanks. I also know, crop factor of M43 olympus/pana cameras is 2x and for that system, the aperture is counted as twice, exactly like you said, however i am doubtful that it's f/1.5 for Apsc ... will be back soon if & when i can recall. Right now i am not in right frame of mind to make any judgment, lol ! I have canon 6D since 2013, and had D7000 nikon in 2012. I also own the Leica M10-P (white limited edition) + 50mm f/1.4 summilux.
This will be the fuji wedding photographers dream lens. The 56 is great but this is better with it’s better af and eye af and low light. Since I already own the 16-55 and the 90 I was never going to buy the 56 or 50f2. But I may definitely buy this one.
This lens keeps popping up in almost every TH-cam channel I'm subscribed to!!! AHHHHHH I'm so broke...but I want huhu haha. I also can't wait when the make new lenses, more for video purposes! Fuji is getting better every year, I swear!
Just imagine the size of an 75mm f1 on full frame with autofocus which would give the equivalent magnification and light gathering ability it would have even shallower depth of field but it would cost considerably more.
Oh no, please not again! This lens is equivalent to a FF f1.5 in terms of light gathering ability as well (on a FF camera with 26mp). There is no need to imagine.
@@wilhelmw3455 I'm afraid this is not an explanation, more or less re-iteration of your previous statement. Come on, you should be able to do better since you sound so authoritative. Or should I try instead?
Yes, of course, if you assume that Great-Grandpa's Exakta VXIIa is the absolute standard of comparison for everything in photography. Shall I tell you what mileage my car gets in horse-equivalent furlongs per peck of oats?
Yet the Canon mirrorless equivalent is $3000, the closest Sony mirrorless equivalent is $1800 with a full stop less light and larger DoF, and Nikon doesn't have anything nearly comparable outside of adapted and third party solutions (also a full stop less light and larger DoF). I think the price is fair.
@@alexhall9450 I'm comparing it with equivalents that give a similar field of view and depth of field. You're upset about aps-c, but why? quality aps-c lenses are more difficult to make as flaws in the craftsmanship show up stronger than a similar flaw in a physically larger lens. On top of that, this lens is only 75% and 50% the price of it's 35mm format counterparts; notably less expensive. The way you write seems like there should be a hard upper limit on the price of aps-c glass and i'm just confused by your reasoning. This won't even be in the top four most expensive Fujifilm aps-c lenses and will be tied for fifth place with the 56mm APD lens. Even Micro Four Thirds has lenses that cost more than this. If you don't like it or can't afford it, don't buy it. but the price is far from outrageous.
Arm chair generals who see nothing but FF...to them everything is FF related. Nothing is good enough for them unless its Nikon or Canon! Just waste of time watching this crap...
What do you think? Does f/1.0 excite you? Does this kind of lens fit into your workflow? Let me know in the comments 😎
How did you get this lens? Is it not for sale yet?

You know what you're talking about....SUBBED!!!!!!!!
Meh. Think I'd rather see a MkII version of the 56mm f1.2 with modern autofocus.
This thing is enormous.
Two questions, what f stop did you shoot this video in, you mentioned f1, but the focus a pretty sharp throughout the entire medium close so I’m not sure. Second, did you shoot this video with autofocus and if so what settings?
My greatest confusion is whether to get the 20mm g or a zies batis 40mm f2 or zies 85 f1.8....for casual photography and video
Hi. Please can I ask if this video was shot in manual or autofocus? Thanks!!
This was shot with autofocus :-)
Oh amazing results then!!! Thanks very much as well for getting back to me.
I’m so glad the eye af works well with a f1 aperture that’s really important to mail focus
It definitely helps a lot! :-)
Love the photos!
Thanks, to be fair, the lens helps a lot 😅🙌

I think you're absolutely right, to be fair, it is in the closeup shots that it can be a bit too shallow but I totally agree about full body shots :-)

Good video, how’s the auto focus in video???
It actually worked really nicely, I'll be uploading another video looking at this lens from a video perspective and I'll make sure to cover that :-)
Park Cameras That would be ace, if the afc works considerably better that 56 1.2 I’ll be changing for sure.
yes, fullframe-wise, its Aperture is like F/1.55 (or f/1.6)
👍
1.5 full frame equivalent
Eman Mar thanks, how did u calculate, would like to know ! Regards

When you show shots taken with the lens, it'd be great to have settings next to it for context
That's a really great idea actually and I'll look to add that in to future videos :-)
The obvious question for Fuji X shooters is "how does it compare to the 56mm f1.2?"
it seems the autofocus is better , at least for video...
Looks neat, but I would much rather have a v.2 of the 56 1.2 with WR and the wonderful focus clutch like what's on the 16 1.4.
I agree, with newer and faster autofocus motor and weather sealing so we can take it out to extreme environment would be nice
new thing from Fuji Thanks Park cameras

Nick Bakis F1 is F1.5 in terms of depth of field not light gathering ability.
@@wilhelmw3455 Could you please explain why?
Nick Bakis The depth of field is effected by the crop factor every thing else remains the same.

Huge price for an apsc lens. 1499 usd. Mikaton speed master 0.95 is faster wider and slither of the price and super sharp.
