    I usually grind me some bacon in with my deer grind. One pound of bacon for every 5 pounds of deer meat. Helps keep it moist. And don't have to use oil on my grill. Oh and I grill em offset on my charcoal grill.

    Fresh Parsley will really help to improve the freshness and overall aesthetic look of a venison burger. Also, chilling, for at least an hour, will help the flavors meld thoroughly and prevent burning. I also like to use Worcestershire Sauce as a substitute.

    I hadn't been using venison for burgers, either... until now. I used the same recipe I use for other meats - Lea&Perrin's - with the addition of BACON. Holy smokes is it good! Another thing I did differently, partly because I don't have a gas grill, partly because, well...bacon, is that I fried the burgers in the pan the bacon was fried in (I did pour out most of the extra drippings).
    Thanks for the inspiration!

    I'm a huge VOLS fan and an avid hunter here in Mid Tn. If someone has gamy meat, something went wrong between the shot and the table. I made deer burgers tonight and my wife had to ask if it was deer. It was straight up ground venison marinated for 3 hours in in Worcestershire and sprinkled with Montreal steak season.

    Neighbor to the south here...roll tide!! Venison is all about prepping the meat. It's time consuming, but you must get the sinyue (silver skin, fat) off the meat. If you do that it will almost never taste "game". It's a hassel, but worth the time.

    If I want to cook 1 pound, should I double up the ingredients since you did half a pound?

    • @HomeCookinHunter
      @HomeCookinHunter  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey luke! I didn't have a scale back then so that was closer to 3/4 lbs when I use 1 lbs I just take everything up a 1/3 or so do at least 6 strips of bacon, a solid 1/3 cup of A1, and just do the garlic, onion powder and worcestershire double the video. But don't worry about it I never measure you can't screw this recipe up! Hope this helps and thanks for following!

    • @HomeCookinHunter
      @HomeCookinHunter  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey latinelover! Check out my channel I've got several different recipes you can look at. The buck burger, Gorgonzola steak, Smokey buck beans, and Chicken and Steak stir fry are some of my fav's. Also the country fried deer steak is good. I have several new recipes coming out soon involving burger and the tenderloin. If you have any questions hit me up on Facebook facebook.com/homecookinhunter I hope this helps and again dont hesitate on any questions

      Whenever I grind my meat I generally use the rear quarters as well as any trimmings I may get from the rest of the deer.

      Home Cookin Hunter can you do somethin with a venison shoulder

    • @HomeCookinHunter
      @HomeCookinHunter  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      mr ditto just take the Front Shoulder cut it in half at the joint to separate the leg. After trimming put them in a crock pot and add-
      1 carton of sliced mushrooms
      1 small bag of baby carrots
      1 whole sweet onion sliced
      6 to 8 Golden potatoes
      1 packet dry ranch dressing mix
      1 packet dry Itaian dressing mix
      1 packet brown gravy mix
      Mix packets with 2 cups of water, poor over food and cook for 6 to 7 hours on low or until
      meat is tender. (remember you don't want to over cook it.) If your on Instagram follow me and I'll send you some more or like my facebook page.
