    Hey Bea, Hope you're well my friend.
    As a self-taught guitarist with little theory knowledge, I've always found scales/modes to be very daunting, and when I sit down to learn different shapes and positions, I find my mind wonders and struggle to keep an interest in learning them. Are there any good or fun ways to approach getting out of bad habits and going to the same positions each time.
    Appreciate the advice, hope to see you soon.

    • @EpicStuffMan1000
      @EpicStuffMan1000 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I'd say before diving into just memorising scales and mode, understand the intervals that make them up. Fifths, fourths thirds etc.
      Memorising modes is fairly useless IMO before you understand why they are used and over which chords. After you learn about intervals, you'll understand way more about how to remember a scale, where that scale is all over the neck, and also build chords all over the neck from the scale. You'll be able to recognise something like "oh they're using a flat seventh in what looks like major otherwise, this is probably mixolydian", and you'll be able to improvise or come up with chords using that information.

    • @chrisdaviesguitar

      Look for a post by Signals Music Studio, very good explanation on modes and how to use them with which chords.

      I feel u. I get bored AF learning new things like that. Was easier when I was younger. I had a teacher who made learning more interesting than it is now, just learning scales etc.

    • @keesketsers5866
      @keesketsers5866 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The wa I do it : choose a suitable backing track, choose a shape/scale and then just jam out going up and down the scale varying the speed and attack. That way you are making music while learning the positions and shapes and it keeps you interested. Just choose a different backing track on youtube every time to keep it fresh and have fun with the scales. You will learn them way faster, learn to apply them and "play music" at the same time.

    One thing about speedloader saddles - I bought a set, and really like them, but when stringing up with a set of 12-60 (for C- tuning) I found that with the 60 guage string, the winding near the ball-end made it almost impossible to pull it into the speedloader so it reached the stability point where the ball-end was firmly up against the inner ridge. I got it to pull through eventually, but it will be a devilish job to get it out again! Slightly lighter (i.e. thinner) strings will probably be fine. Having said that, they seem just as stable as a clamped saddle once stretched in, and they save time!

    As your playing keeps evolving what inspires you to learn and how to get past any blocks you may have on the road to bettering yourself as a guitarist and musician? How do you challenge yourself to improve? I normally don’t like to be personal but I also have to say thanks because I had a friend who passed away who was highly into guitar and I lost the love for it for whatever reason after his death feeling his loss. Coming across your page there was something about the tones and style and knowledge/genuine passion that sparked the love again to learn. Your playing hits on an inspiring level to me and shows hope that life gets better, the emotions through music can help write a story that everyone can relate too. Thanks for the content and for being real.

    Rebea. Absolutely love your playing and style with Toska, your gear demos etc. I know you've been a big tube amp and pedal board guy for some time but have a Helix for your Frogleap gigs. I'm fairly certain alot of people would enjoy a Helix preset or two made by you to emulate your rig/tone, I definitely would. Your ambient and then big crunchy tones especially would be amazing.

    Hey Bea! First of all thank you so much for all the inspiration! I'm more of a beginner-intermediate player (and late starter), currently working on your musicisum course and enjoying it a lot!
    Question #1: if you had to pick 5 pedals (tuner, MIDI controller and expression pedals not included) and get rid of everything else, which would you pick?
    Question #2: you recently mentioned working on a band project with Nolly. Is it going to be a instrumental band, or a will you guys go with a singer?
    Kindest regards from Germany! Hope to be able to see one of your projects live some time!

To be blunt, would you ever use a tube screamer in front of a kraken?

I've also tried a different, more traditional Mayones (don't remember the name), which I liked better. Quality was great, but playing-wise, it just couldn't justify the price tag. Just didn't work for me, which was kind of disappointing, because those guitars look awesome. Everyone is different after all. So my advice is: go try it out. @@RabeaMassaad that's good to know that it wasn't That bad!! I used to skate as well, pretty much from age 8-20. After seeing u do that tre flip off that bank (couple months ago I think). Got me inspired to pick up my board. Legs were a bit wobbly for sure. (u inspired me to play guitar again as well,). Life is fun again! Thanks Bea your awesome!!
