I visited lonavla, khandala recently, we were 4 people and on some steep inclines I had to drive it on 2nd gear, is that okay

Yes 2nd gear is fine, if the incline increases coming down to 1st is also OK in Nano

On trips like this I get an average of around 19 kmpl.
This trip was around 300 kms including a few trips to the market to buy stuff.
