I went and checked out the charger its a 180watt charger that sorry to say is a big disappointment. Thats gonna take overnight to charge when depleted.
Going to be real interested in your compare this to Bixpy and especially Newport. A NK300 with a 36v 55Ah LiTime battery is half the price of this (1550$). I’d be stressed to find 1400$ of value here vs the NK300. Please give me detailed reasons why you would want this instead I am genuinely interested to hear arguments for it.
The pro-torqeedo folks will point out that Newport is China made vs German made torqeedo. However, I'm not sure where/how they are made ever since Torqeedo sold out to Yamaha. I have the 1103 and it's been tough, especially since I beat the snot out of it weekly on my local shoalie rivers. I like the idea that this new model has the removable/higher quality bottom fin. Either way, I agree that it would be hard to justify that extra cost.
would it work to slide this motor instead of the mirage drive with a DIY.. or the motor size is too big to slide through that place? i did the DIY with torqeedo 1HP and it worked well. basically my question is regarding the actual size of the case of the motor if it will go through the space of mirage drive on my pro angler 14 .. as I prefer the motor to be installed at the middle and not at the back of the kayak.
I will be posting my review of it next! And a side by side comparison. There are some differences for sure. One is cheaper and one has a ton more technology and built in safety features which is why it is more. Both are great options though!
Very good explanations and descriptions. Good job and I’ll be watching for the additional videos. Also… is that the trailer you haul your kayak on over large distances? I have a hobie PA and Hobie does not recommend transporting or storing the kayaks on a flat surface.
For sure that is something to consider. There are some benefits to that like having accurate speed and range data that you get because their battery has built in gps and it is way more sealed and protected around water than any other off the shelf battery, but you pay for the added tech and durability.
Very good information Jameson. Looking forward to the other motors
Thanks as always!
I think that’s probably the ideal top kayak speed. Pretty cool.
Yea anything between 6.5 and 7mph is great!!
What stores did you get the wuard rock?
the guard came from here www.innovativesportsman.com/#/
One quick question for the battery charger how many amps does it charge at?

My next test is the NK300 with a 36v 30ah which should give you 1 hour at full throttle, similar to the Torqeedo. Then the vs video.

I don’t have access to a Hobie to check but it think it would be a bit to big to fit through it.
Litime 36V 2112 wh 349$ Paired with the nk300. Its a no brainer.

I was able to get 7.2 mph with my NK300 on my PWR129 I have the FPV 36 volt 60Ah total cost $2350
I will be testing the nk300 next!
3 grand is steep. I feel like other systems are closer to 2 grand including battery.

You look at another kayak price wise..
It’s a chunk of green for sure.
The only reason I will not this motor cause you can’t use your on brand battery. You have to use thier motor
