  • The music in this video sounds very much like the theme from the Hollywood movie, Rocky, but in fact, it actually is music written for the valveless Baroque trumpet in the 17th century.
This music survives today in the music collection of the Este Library in Modena, Germany. While the date is uncertain, it is thought to have been written in the late 1600s, likely during the reign of Francesco II d’Este, who was on the throne from 1674 to 1694.
