He's the first one who made rain collection look simple. I've viewed some complicated vids. I want 3 for my home. Also, rain water can be used for inhome usage--laundry, dish washing, bathing, etc.

Thank You for the great video. Your video is the first one that not looks complicated. I'll try to installing one myself. Wish me luck

Nice. You could raise the barrel up higher and install a spigot near the bottom of the barrel so a bucket can fit under it.

My eavestrough are 2 3/4 X 2 3/4 but all of the attachments are for 2 x 3. I don’t know why mine are such a wacky size but I want to do this with my rain barrel. Any suggestions?

thank you for the Great video. can I use 6 cinder blocks instead of 2 to give it more elevation and get better water pressure?

In the winter do you just attach the part of the gutter you cut off to the flexible bit?

      Yes!

How is that done, when the end of the flex looks narrower than the part that was cut. Also, do these barrels have to be emptied during the winter.

Can you use a hose to water plants or there is not enough pressure going out of faucet?

Do you know what has to be done with your rain barrel in the winter in a northern climate (Canada)?

+Paul Sr. Gellatly You should drain it till it's completely empty before exterior temperatures are below the freezing point. Which works out pretty well since your landscape doesn't need or use as much water at that point, nor is there generally as much rain.

What do you do with the gutter during the winter, though? Are you supposed to re-attach the part of the gutter you cut off to the flexible extender for the cold months?

here ideas all pop and milk jug house. is save them instead through way you fill up with water rain barrow so that barrow refile. that way not not worry about full rain barrow. also if think rain expensive. next time city cut tree got to big. have save chances truck. use electric drill drill hole and chisel out till hollow. got good look rain barrow. torsion water seal stop rotting. good go.

I think useing rain barrels might have restrictions in some western states of America, you cant use rain water as drinking water or redirect water off your own property, Check with your own local zoning laws.

Can you drink the water ?

    • @ShawnaCoronado

No. You shouldn't drink the water off your roof. It is considered potable.

You have to get to the spigot for the hose and water pressure

I find this video very misleading. After watching several videos (including this one) on Rain Barrel Hook Up and Use, I found that in actuality, the water flow is ridiculously low - a mere trickle. You cannot 'wash your car and water your garden' with this system unless you don't mind almost zero water pressure. Placing your barrel on a couple of cinder blocks does nothing to increase the water flow and unless your car and garden are at a significant drop in elevation, the best you will get from this set up is, as mentioned, a slow trickle. Even after I increased the size of my spigot (as advised by other videos), the water flow improved only slightly. Going back to do further research in how to obtain a decent water flow, it appears that only by using a water pump will you be able to obtain a reasonable water pressure.

So get a water pump Vince.

It is indeed low. It is gravity fed. You can get a pump to place inside the rain barrel.
