    Hello, what was the stain used for this console table? We are building this exact one as well :)
    Nice video, very helpful! :)

    This is the look I’m going for! But don’t have the tools, so I’ll go with a simpler style

      Hi Shelby, we did a lot of testing to get this weathered oak look without pulling yellow out of the pine. My wife is checking to see what colors we used and I will get back to you once we know. I might link you to her blog. livingliesel.com as she might do a write up on the color.

      www.lowes.com/pd/Minwax-Color-Wash-Weathered-Gray-Water-Based-Interior-Stain-Actual-Net-Contents-32-fl-oz/1002602240 I used this colorwash transparent layering color in weathered gray FIRST and then after it dried, I applied oil based special walnut. I did about 2-3 coats of the oil based stain, wiped on, and then let it dry! It has held up and I have had no issues layering water based and then oil based!

    Nice Vid!!! Wonder if there would be any concern of wood distortion due to moisture since the material is standard lumber from box store. Thanks!

    • @BryceLane
      @BryceLane  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes absolutely, you can leave this lumber in your garage to dry out for a couple of months.

    Nice work! One pro tip - never set your stock on the garage floor. That's where it will pick up tiny little pieces of stone or grit that gets embedded in the wood and then puts a groove in your joiner and planer blades. You could use the same joinery principle to do a shelf part way down.

      @@lobendinonicole Yes, I milled these 2x6 down to 2x3's. If you dont have a table saw I would just buy 2x3's x 8ft prime stud. They are cheaper than 2x4s. Good luck on the build. hope this helps.

    To all those complaining about not having the tools, the only uncommon tool they used was the jointer and maybe the planner. There are alternatives you can use, like a $20 handplane or a $30 electric hand plane from harbor freight. There are plenty of those videos on youtube. The video is more about the materials and the design.

    nothing infuriates me more than some Jack, that tells me a table only cost $50 to make, but requires, $10,000 in tools in equiptment. Dude if you are using joiner, a stable saw and other $1000 tools, don't tell people it cost $50 to make this table, It does not, not even close. You would have far more credibility if you tell people it cost $50 in wood but requires the following tools which cost thousands.

      I mean you weren’t wrong in your above comment. Who goes on someone’s page and blasts them for doing something creative and positive? People need to stick to the dollar store diy if it’s not a serious passion. 🤷🏼‍♀️

      You can typically do all the things that I show here with a table saw. I am putting out a new video showing how to build things with less equipment. I might add this one to the list and do it again.
