Wow, Donatello truly is a bad ass to have died, revived, taken over by cybernetic ai, die again, only to revive and heal underneath the flimsy metal that comes off like dead skin. Donatello is practically a god-tier. XD
He didn't actually die though just ended up with a robot body basically the guy that fell out of the helicopter with him had robotic armor that works like a parasite. It looked like the rats got him but it was the guys skeleton not Donnie. Though if it hadn't he woukd be paralyzed as his shell is both his backbone and ribs. His shell was smashed. Oh and Leo was meditating when Donnie contacted him as he was close to death. I have the old black and white comics of this entire thing. Also Karai was in the hospital visiting her brain dead daughter when her body became a host and she killed Karai. It was weird cause the turtles just....leave the room awkardly. Lol
Damn, Donatello seems to get the least love in every series. This is why I lean toward him even though I love all 4. Thanks for the video, it was relatively quiet which made the ad super loud in comparison
My thinking is they sense Donnie is the one who is best suited for this kinda stuff to happen to. He has the mental defense that the other lack, thus allowing him to take the mental torture, kinda like how Raph gets the physical torture most often.
My exposure to the Image comics Turtles was from the burgeoning online scene back in the late 90's, right as the series reached its cancellation after issue 23 or so. I couldn't buy the comics because the local 7-Eleven stopped selling comics years ago and there were no nearby comic shops around that I knew about so all I had were bits and pieces of quickly thrown up websites from Turtle webrings. I remember reading about how all the Turtles except Michelangelo underwent major changes, and I think I was shocked and upset at how everything happened. I bought some of the issues of the comic years later while in college, and I don't remember being impressed by it. And now, as an older fan, all I can think of is how much of Erik Larsen's Savage Dragon aesthetic was all over the comic, even if he didn't write it. Donatello's "deaths" would fit in within the Savage Dragon universe, and I think that's the most damning part about the the book and the plotline. None of the Turtle magic, whether from Mirage or the Cartoon, was in those pages. Watching this video reminded me of how gratuitous it was and while the Mirage line didn't shy away from violence and death, the Mirage comics were better in how it handled those moments.

First in Image Comics, then in the IDW comics (he was revealed to have been comatose in both versions but they still technically count), and finally in the 2012 cartoon series because placing your consciousness into a non living robot body after losing your original, organic one also counts as dying ("Raphael: Mutant Apocalypse").
But he did die in an alternate universe of tmnt 2012 in the 3 episode mutant apocalypse series, when the mutagen bomb went off, his body died but his spirit was put inside of metalhead model 2, basically his body died and he became a turtle in a robot turtle body
If this was reality the “Ooze” would be perfect for burn & amputee victims. Just enough to cause one to heal back to normal, but could be used for “Super Soldier” projects.
DAMN! Donnie in like every incarnation gets hurt the most or nearly killed for some reason XD! He gets stabbed/burned and even almost completely paralyzed. In Batman vs TMNT Ra's Al Ghul breaks his arm and u hear the bone crunch and break too :O

The Big ones are: Mirage TMNT Comics Archie TMNT Comics Image TMNT Comics IDW TMNT Comics and now The Last Ronin Comics (which are made by IDW but their own separate thing) All these versions are their own universes. This video in particular is of Don dying in the Image Comics version.
