I was born in ‘02 so I never experienced this in real time, but it seems like networks were more willing to appreciate black art back then. I feel like everything is only on BET and the like now. we’re not celebrated like this anymore in popular culture - our art is consumed and cheaply redone. idk tho since I wasn’t around to see this era first hand.
This is super rare. If this show did nothing else, they definitely put on for the musical guests during that era.
